  • @Xolette Ok sounds kool should I dull my sharp set then and thanks for the advice :]

  • welcome to the "No Spin Zone" lol

  • Xolette u have some pretty dece videos . I have some throwing knives I got from my friend but their not that sharp or pointy what is the best way u recomend to get the point back and what tool should I use ?

  • @shadowman6264 Knives don't need to be sharp to throw-- just a flat end and a point. Try a grinder to get the point back.

  • do your neighbors give you any trouble about you throwing knives in your apartment or are they afraid your going to filet them hahaha ps. great videos, good information, and verry helpfull

  • @Bull0612 Haha, no, I don't think they even know I have throwing knives. Thank you for the comment!

  • Do u have any SOG throwing knives? If so r they any good. PS I have the fusion axe by SOG wich I love 4 utility. I want that SOG spirit spear. It looks awesome.

  • @0123456what Nope-- tried the adjustable SOG throwing knife and I found the adjustable function unecessary

  • hey great videos ur one of the best no spin throwers ive seen.

some day could u make a video of how to throw spike shuriken? my brother prefers to throw those but he doesnt know... could u help us out please?

  • 10:33 zombies!!

  • Hi, I have recently started throwing knives and taken a liking to the 'no-spin' throw. I've been using real cheap knives and they don't hold up real well. The knives that your showing look really nice and I especially Like the shur-knife, but jeez do I really have to pay $40 per knife just to get something decent?!? :(

  • @redwood1011 I'd have to say yes. Most good quality knives are in that range. I've had some good $20 knives, but it's more maintenance as they chip or bend because the steel isn't so great. You also can't beat Flying Steel's quality policy. In my opinion, Flying Steel also has the best design for no spin throwing. If you're worried about price, try the 528 spikes-- they're awesome. Good luck!

  • i love you so much gorgeous and good with a gun and knives

  • Hey @xollette i was wondering if you know if it is legal to have double edged throwing knives in california? do you need a permit? I bought some throwing knives but i dont wanna get them taken away or worse, get in trouble :D

  • @Ohsnapitzj0rdan23 Any knife that is double-edged, over 2 inches long (I think) are illegal. Look up the 12020 laws. If they are throwing knives, and you are using them for training in your "dojo", you should be fine. However, carrying throwing knives around with you concealed for self-defense, is a no go.

  • @Xolette thats good to know! so throwing knives are fine as long as they dont leave my house? i think you might have the ones i bought. they are called silver wings (i think?) are those fine to have? i should have bought better ones but i was too excited to look at reviews XD

  • @Ohsnapitzj0rdan23 Most knives, as long as they're used for training non-violent purposes, not carried on you in a concealed manner, should be fine. Once again, I'd review the 12020 laws to make sure.

  • I have a knife fetish..just spent some dough on a Fitzen Frankenstein..now I found another extension of my love for steel. never wanted to throw knives because it seems difficult..but now I can't want to get started..thank you!

  • @xlasvegan7x Great and welcome!

  • what flying steel knife is the best for no spin throwing?

  • @jjd81726354 I like the Small Ralph Shuri Knife and the Northwind. I haven't tried the other knives they have though. The Northwind is nice, because it has a dip in the middle so you know where your hand is approximately when you grab the knife.

  • @Xolette thanks for the help

  • great video i can across here. Just wondering what state do you reside in?

  • @MASTERNCS Thanks, CA

  • @Xolette Interesting, I am also in Cali and every law officer according to DOJ regulations and local law here in Los Angeles county tells me that it is prohibited for me to own these items which are classified as Shuriken in CA.

Have you had any issues with them here?

  • @MASTERNCS Look up the 12020 laws in California. Shuriken is legal in some instances and a felony in some instances. For sure, do not carry them around concealed. Having them in your house or dojo for training reasons should be fine.

  • @Xolette Great, Glad im talking to someone who mentions DOJ code 12020 and knows what they are talking about. thank you very much. Love ur vids btw, wondering if you are into firearms as well.

  • @Xolette Yup, check out my Firearms Playlist!

  • Very informative! I'm guessing your students don't give you many discipline issues lol

  • @1dducks Nah, I have problems like any other teacher. :) But thanks.

  • I want to try spin and no spin throwing. Do no spin knives work well for spin throwing? I'm tight on money so I would prefer to buy one quality knife to try both techniques on.

  • @chaos1267 Yup, they work for spin and no spin throwing

  • Nice video as always Xolette, any chance you know of a site that sells them with a low international shipping cost? Very hard to find quality items in Sweden.

  • @Dravorath I'd say that Flying Steel is just one of the companies I know of with high quality products. If you look at... big name brands, their products are made in China and the steel isn't so good. Flying Steel's made in America and has a really great quality policy-- so I'd stick with them and their shipping cost. But it doesn't hurt to look around and ask other knife throwers, maybe some in your area. :)

  • @theamazingjoeytv Haha, sweet :)

  • I just forged several Bo shuriken the other day. but I dont understand the mechanics of the no spin throw. do u have any instructional videos?

  • @MrArmystrong85 I have a knife throwing playlist which you might want to check out. In particular, watch the video called "No Spin Throwing" and the video called "Spin vs. No Spin"

  • @Xolette Thanks got it down now

  • You just gave me the project Im gonna work on for my blacksmithing demonstration.

  • @MrArmystrong85 great!

  • Great videos! Enjoy them a lot. I'm looking to get into knife throwing... What would be a good start set that's cheap but strong?

  • @jwalburg10 I don't recommend cheap sets-- but Flying Steel sells spikes, the JA528 for $15 apiece (and great quality!). The bailey boker ziel knive is $20 apiece. You can get a set of Gil Hibbe for $30 a think. But beware, cheap sets tend to bend and chip easily

  • @jwalburg10

  • @ROFLdudes you will find that the quality of these, surpass the cold steel knives by a far margin.

  • Amazing zombie killing arsenal :P And I am so getting into Spikes!!! and thanx for the RC tips :)

  • @neverspade Excellent-- I think spikes are underrated and perfect for beginners and indoor throwing. Let me know how you like the spikes when you get them

  • I don't know why I haven't discovered your channel until now, but I'm glad I finally did. Flying Steel has great products. I'm a friend of Houzan Suzuki and his designs are well tested and demonstrated in his videos here on YouTube. I'm looking forward to more great demos and reviews.

  • @erniesbudolab Yes, I think Flying Steel has some of the best products out there and I refer Houzan's channel whenever someone asks me about long distance no spin throwing. Hope to post up more videos soon!

  • I was trying to learn the thorw you learnt its is the over hand no rotation and I cant seem to get it I need some advice I would love to talk to you if you can I would love some advice give me a call if you can 17574083916 thanks for everything I learned a lot from u keep it up

  • @pinoythrower I suggest doing a google search Ralph Thorn-- he does a great job show how to throw no spin. In addition. There is also the "Fedin System" so check out those videos as well. Good luck.

  • hey I love your videos im sixteen and have won fourteen knife and ax throwing competions I have one vid posted and im gona post more but I need subscribers can u help premote me!? thanks

  • I ordered a knife from Flying Steel today. I went with "Mumyou-Ryu" designed by Houzan Suzuki. I'm just a beginner but I can't wait to practice with it. I'll definitely order his dvd as well to learn proper technique. Thanks for reviewing this company.

  • @betif00 Excellent! I didn't try that knife, nor, have I watched his DVD (but I've seen his videos on YouTube). He definitely is a master at no-spin. Post a video of his knives-- I'd be interested in seeing them!

  • @Xolette Ok. Can't say exactly when but soon!

  • @betif00 when you get it tell me how it is cause i was looking into that one, thanks ;D

  • @thehiddenblade1 I've been throwing it for 2 weeks. I wanted to use it a bit first before putting up a video. I've gathered raw footage but I still need to edit it. The video will be up by the end of the week hopefully. Apologies if it's taking forever!

  • Hey I've tried throwing butter knives but they bend if they stick to hard any other types of non throwinmg specific knives

  • @MaurizioGarzia Agreed-- which is why a good quality set of knives is necessary made out of a decent metal. That's why I recommend Flying Steel's knives.

  • Awwwww you have a green cheeked conure! I have a yellow sided Green cheek, love him to death! :) btw awesome throwing and thanks for the website link and tips. When I get some extra money i'll have to check out those spikes.

  • @MrMrspy1 Great! The spikes are great, esp. for getting into no spin throwing. Glad to hear from another conure lover :)

  • Any advice or recommended resources for learning to throw shuriken and/or spikes? Or better yet make an instructional video :)

  • @swalhovd I'm not qualified to teach shuriken. If you google California MSR you can contact my friend who teaches and see if anyone teaches in your area. Throwing spikes though is like throwing a knife using the no-spin technique. Just the grip is different.

  • Hi Xolette, Thanks you. I have watched all your videos and they were very entertaining. I will pick up some north wind and try them out.

  • @ljl787 Yay! I hope you enjoy them.

  • Great video! I would love to get some Shuriken spikes..

  • if i had to fight a person , wat would be more effective as a thrown weapon? spike or knife?

  • good review! a girl who loves throwing knives.. i love it!

  • damn shes hot

  • Subscribed. I got hooked to knife throwing today. I was just walking back home from taking the garbage out and found an old knife on the ground I had put to trash a week before. I am not sure why I picked it up but as I walked back I threw it at a tree from about 5 meters, no-spin and it stuck (beginner's luck maybe?). Fascinated, I must have spent the next hour practicing. I modified the knife by removing the old handle and making a new one out of cotton twine. I can't wait to practice again.

  • sheesh when the zombie apocolypse happens im tagging along with you lol...dibbs on the machete ;)

  • Ninja zombie hunter pirate?

  • Great video, excellent job, your videos are all entertaining and informative, thanks!

I'm just wondering what your opinion is on the Ralph Thorn shureknife. I'm thinking

about getting some and would love your opinion on them...

  • @paramedia161 Thank you. I think he has a great knife-- I like the smaller size in particular. Great design, and it will last forever with flying steel's quality policy.

  • @Xolette Cool thank you! I'm gonna be getting some of them soon, I'm hoping I can get Patrick at Flying Steel to custom make me some of my prototype throwers I've been making myself.. I made something similar to the Shure Knife, and they work really well.. I'd love a 1/4" thick 12 1/2" Shure Knife that weighs around 360 grams..

    Keep on throwing! Cheers!

  • @paramedia161 Yes, I know he makes customized sets (I haven't asked though). But excellent-- post a video when you get your knives!

  • Where do you get your knives?

  • @RandomServerStudios Check the description for the link to Flying Steel's webpage.

  • @Xolette

Okay, but is Budk . com a good place to buy my throwing knives? They are very inexpensive so i wanted to be careful about buying them.

  • I've got to say, I'm intrigued. I might have to try some of those Shurikens. I like the concept of no spin throwing.

  • @Photo314159 Great! I personally like the JA 528.

  • What am I watching here... Flying steel? Carbon? Penetration depth of an indentor under a large load? Heat treated? Smaller than what you're used to? Pretty smile? And she throws knives?

    Subscribed.

  • @absolutebob Thanks for subbing!

  • I am going to scramble to find you if there is a zombie invasion. no doubt at all that you wouldn't be alive. you are my new favorite person... EVER. You must be the focal point of allot of mens dreams. Believe it or not:)

  • @TheWillOfTheNeedles Thanks Although, I wouldn't want guys dreaming of me :)

  • I knew i heard a green cheek conure in the background

  • @GhillieShooter08 I think that was most likely our Meyer's parrot-- but close! :) The Meyer's makes a surprise appearance in my "How to Choose a Throwing Knife" video towards the end, if you're interested.

  • I really enjoy your vids. It's great to see a girl who's into blades, guns and martial arts.

Have you tried archery? Should do an EDC video. I'm sure everyone would like to see what you are packing. Aloha, from Hawaii.

  • @stikbohunta When I was young I tried archery, and would like to try again. Thank you for the video recommendation. I was thinking of doing an EDC video-- I think I might mix that into a "FAQ" type of video. Aloha!

  • Hey I had you for 8th grade science like 5 years ago, I thought you were going to be a cop.

  • @shroomguyali Really? I was 5 months in, but didn't make it through the academy. Doesn't bother me though. Sac PD is laying off 80 cops this year. Is your name Ali? Were you the one with the online games? :)

  • @Xolette That's me, although I don't recall playing very many online games back then. I do remember this martial arts video you showed the class where you stomped on a guy's testicles. That had a lot of the guys rattled up for a while.

  • @shroomguyali I remember you telling me that you made a game online, and placed an ad on the website, and was earning money for it. But in any case, great to hear from you! Hope... Laguna's treating you well? Funny you remember my black belt test. Glad I could scare some of you :)

  • Just got to say even if your gay have a nd or hub your still beautiful and deadly and that at least to me is awesome...thrower for 2 years

  • when are you going to make a new vid? >.<

  • @myslimusik Soon! I've taken some footage at the SoCal renaissance Faire of my friend, Jack Dagger throwing knives... I also have a new stock for my shotgun I want to film-- but that'll most likely be taped/edited in June. Very busy with this last month of school. Thanks for asking. :)

  • Great vid! It's been added to the Resource Playlist on The Tactical Forum!

  • @TheTacticalForum Wow! Thanks :)

  • @SaschaHeylik Force = Mass x Acceleration. Knives usually have a larger mass than bo shuriken, thus, more force. However, the boshuriken also has small surface area at the point, so all the force generated by a boshuriken is being concentrated in that small SA, unlike the flat edge of a knife. Overall, you would usually side with a large knife for more range and penetration power. Bo shuriken I believe are meant to be a stealth weapon, but they can be thrown long distances as well.

  • just a quick aside, I've thrown no sping, underhand, for maybe thirty years now and what I love about it is that it works with almost all knives, not just throwers. I'm a big bowie knife fan, picked them up in the infantry and carry little else. I agree BTW that those who design throwers have little clue. My personal fav for no spin is eithe the GH silver shadow, or the CS laredo bowie. NS is a short range combat throw, which is why I was taught it in the rangers.

    Love your stuff. you inspire

  • @sidiagung Thank you for the input! I did breeze through some of your videos and it'll work great for a woman looking for information on self defense. In general though, I'd look to shorten your videos for next time. I find that short videos seem to work best on YouTube. Some of my shortest videos get the most hits. Maybe break a video down into several videos. Good luck!

  • @Xolette Thanks, love your stuff...exp the bloopers. I've been teaching a few decades now, but this video lark is a new deal. Mostly I'm looking to put forwrd legal WSD ( a lot of stuff isn't), and something that the solo practitioner can learn from so that they may benefit from the wealth of great instructors here on you tube and elsewhere. I will take your adivse though.

    Thank you very much.

    Blessings,

    David

  • Hi, I had hoped to send an email, but I can't figure out how to do so. I was hoping you'd look through my womens self defense stuff and comment. I am trying to put forward a WSD striking system, free. And I'll do so in any case. But I've been a subscriber for a while and would like your input.

    Blessings,

    David

Hope they aren't union bashing you...love your stuff btw...

  • How come the don't use a nitronic 60 steel? You can get comparable corrosion resistance to a 300 series but a much higher yield strength...

  • @fizzicks1 I do not know.:)

  • Thanks

  • Xoleete

Is the cold steel true flight a good throwing knife because in the video they had it looked good but it has a sharp blade and a strap handle which you said wasn't good for throwing

  • @MrMclovin354 My friend, wingzero7x loves the True Flight. You can ask what he thinks and check his vids. It works find for throwing, however, I'm not so into it because of the heavy handle and plus it's sharp. I'm used to evenly balanced knives, in which this one is not. If you're looking for a good all around knife that you could use to cut as well as throw, sure, go for it. But for me, it's not a true throwing knife, which are usualy evenly balanced and don't come sharp.

  • i have to make my own knives because, for one i get paid for it, and two theres no knife stores around here and i can't order from online. It's okay though because i think knife making is fun.

  • I was wondering... Is there a technique for throwing spikes or will the no spin tech for knives work?

  • @Archbishop53 No spin technique would work for spikes as well.

  • Are the knives for Kali?

  • @huntermax04 They are meant for no spin throwing. I don't know if that applies to Kali-- if kali uses the no spin technique, then yes.

  • In my search for a good review of knives I wasn't expecting the best review

to come from a girl. And even more unusual was that after this I was

supposed to search for good throwing weapons and brands of shotguns

    for a zombie apocalipse.

  • @organtheif Thanks! Best comment yet. Much appreciated. :) Now all I need is a sling for my shotgun and holsters for my throwing weapons. :)

  • Wow. I'm impressed. You are a walking encyclopedia. Edgedweapon88 suggested your site. I'm glad I found it. I really had a good time watching your vid and I learned something. I'll have to watch it a few times to remember everything, but I learn hard.

  • @thenrylee I'm glad he sent you! Thanks-- there's still tons about steel I don't know, but I definitely know what a knife made out of poorly heated steel does after throwing the last few years.

  • u cud use some chopsticks as bo shurikens i have a vid of me doin it its on my channel page

  • u cud use some chopsticks as bo shuriken

  • velocity i just backed up twice the distance and threw it twice as hard.. and voila! 2/3 sticks from 61 feet.

  • @retx101 Very nice. I'll have to try that next time I throw. I haven't practice no spin from that far, but yes... no spin is a quarter spin throw-- it spins but very slowly. Thanks for the advice.

  • i must share some knowlegde i figured out. ive been trying to find the best way to throw the long distances, and i think ive found it. i use the no spin technique. though i think it needs to be renamed now. reduced spin technique maybe? :P.. anyway i figured the best way to throw long was to control the amount of rotations of the knife and the only way i could figure was that technique. it turns out the distance for 1 rotation was about 30 feet for me. and sence rotations are affected by...

  • Holy crap. I'm looking up throwing knife vids and find you on here. How are you these days? And why aren't you a cop?

    Doran

  • i was just wondering if you have ever looked into any SOG knives. before you think, no im not a SOG rep but i was just wondering if you might put out a vid, of SOG because they actually have a set of Throwing knives and i would love to hear your take of them. If you do a vid please let me know! also awesome vid!

  • @Fatalshot24 Personally, I don't like the SOG design so I'm not interested in buying a set. They look a bit too complicated for me and I like simpler knives like the ones you see in this video. I have thrown the SOG knife with the adjustable weight, but it's too expensive for 1, and the adjustable weight's unnecessary in my opinion. But thank you for the recommendation.

  • luv ur vids :)

  • I am new to the throwing knives community and I am just wondering should we apply the dagger standard to it? Like Aug 8 steel and all those ....

  • You Rock TY :)

  • HEHEHE ,,, i got a spike,,, psshhhh ???

  • Thank you, for posting this information. It is something that I would like to learn.

  • Good review! Thanks for posting. Keep up the great work and keep sharing the knowledge!!!

  • You wouldn't want to mess with this lady.

  • I am impressed, you know your stuff, props. If I were to make a suggestion is to display the weight along with information of the thrower's name and cost. Beside that great review. Thumbs up.

  • Thanks for the review. I just got a pack of Flying steel in a lot of knives I bought. I'm looking forward to "throwing" them. That's going to make a hilarious vid. Aloha, J.

  • honestly this was the first throwing knife vid I've watched. Got me interested all ready.

  • nice review, .

  • I would like to date this girl lol

  • Great to see your throwing videos again. Thanks for the reviews, very helpful. Going to add throwing to my skill set. Keep up the good work beautiful.

  • i swear if someone makes a sex joke with RC i'm gonna die XD

  • 5160 spring steel. OCS (Old Chevy Spring). Go to the junkyard and get some old leaf springs. Get a ghetto ass grinder and go to work. Heat them up in your oven for about 3 hours on the highest setting. Then quench in 30 or 40 weight motor oil. After you're done cleaning them up, wipe them with Tuff Cloth dry film lubricant. 5160 rusts like a bitch. Cheers and happy targets.

  • You're a versatile weapon expert, miss you alot.

If I ever became a zombie, please don't kill me.

  • More great info, thanks Xolette.

  • I was never really into throwing knives but I think you changed my mind!

  • Outstanding review. You covered a lot of great information and taught me a lot of new stuff! Thanks so much for sharing.

  • Good steel matters in that art........and good balance. Nice vid and info. #FTW

  • Flying Steel rocks!!!!!!!

  • do a 360 jump to a board stick in next vid

  • WOW nice Machete, where can I get that ? IT'LL MAKE A GREAT BIRTHDAY GIFTS FOR MY DAUGHTERS.

  • 5:43 I realize that I like this size alot better lol, this just felt alot more natural compared to this I think it's be better for someone with larger hands omgomgomg I want to try the 10" are you still talking about knife or did we get lost somewhere.

  • i've said it before, but i can't help it. i LOVE your reviews!!

as for the zombie apocalypse... why the bird? lol

  • you got me at a 70 RC...lol jk...being a creeper

  • @clap5 Haha, that made me laugh. :)

  • It happens the same to me with the noise (KLAANNG!)!! Have you tried to cover the handle with tape? It works. You can also make a "tsuka" with paracord, it's fine with the noise also. :)

  • @solnegrolunaroja I wouldn't want to mess with the balance of the knives, but that's a good idea! Yah, hate that sound!

  • @Xolette Don't worry. With that size of knives and no spin, it's ok. My best regards!

  • @solnegrolunaroja if your doing no spin will also affect the throw when it leaves your hand it will tilt the blade down a bit

  • @MrLoveslittlekids I train with different blades at the same time. It forces me to not be mechanical, I adjust a little to every blade; if you plan to use them in defense, it's not advisable to rely on the blade balance, one should be able to adjust movements of the hand on the go, and with anything available, a nail, a tool, a kitchen knife. Tape should not affect your accuracy or range judgement, one should be able to make real time adjustments any time :) My best regards!

  • I was wondering about this company. It's good to hear a positive review of them. Hell, I might even get a set if I ever get some cash.

    Thanks for sharing Xolette.

  • @TheRenaissanceReborn No prob! Glad you'll check out their site :)

  • Great Video Young Lady , You Go Girl !

  • @tracycolorado Yah! Thanks!

  • how bout i bring my throwing knives next time i'm climbing buildings?

that'd be so assassins creed! :p

  • @nephildevil Haha, wish I could live in a videogame.

  • great review !! absolutely thumbed and faved !! look foward for more ! :)

  • @hatsan38 Ah, thanks!

  • Nice video, have a great day and take care.

  • @ewtoutdoors Thank you-- same to you as well.

  • Good stuff!!

  • Actually, you can case harden 1018 steel up to a hardness of about 50. I consistently get results around 45 using a product called "Cherry Red".

This allows for a hard durable outside with a softer core. Plus, 1018 is really easy to machine and work with. A little on the soft side for a knife, but great for Bo Shuriken.
