The diff of the cardigans and the KW's is the period of making ... KW made music in the bad 80's, which reflected the pessimism at that time with bad economy, high unenployment, possible atomic war and ecological catastrophy. Personally I have just falled in love with KW's Das Model. The dark, melancholic way of the sounds just gave me the creeps.

But for the Cardigans, the original is almost every time better, but the Cardigans made quite the effort though. It just isn't melancholic enough ...

the main problem with covering any Kraftwerk song is there is nothing to cover - KW7s originals are so pristine and minimal-disciplined, there is no space left for other people's studies. Rarely a group managed to deal with some of their originals... Balanescu Quartet is one such fine example. The Cardigans are a great pop group so this cover of theirs was quite unecessary for they had nothing to prove with it...
