Nice Clawman, really like the TONE of your guitar, great stuff!! When you get better at the technicalities you will be awesome ;-D. Thanks, your vid gave some insights of how to play these cool riffs. Thanks man! Jonas
Did a LOT better than what I can do (but then I just started). Your description makes it sound worse than you really do. I left the room for about a minute and couldn't tell the difference. Keep it up!
Well I'm not a real guitar player yet because I still don't know chords or scales. Once I actually do know chords and scales I will consider myself an apprentice-level player and stop being so tough on myself. I do try and make what I play sound the very best that I can, and am fairly successful at it, but that doesn't make me a real player. Only when I know the language of guitar will I be one and I'll never claim to be one until that point :)
I'm pretty good, people say I'm really really good, but I don't think I am and I never will think that. I know I can play, I have been for 4 years now, but I'm not GREAT, but in my opinion, I'm pretty good. I know what you're going through, I've been there lol
@MrClawman lol you dont have to know lots of chords and scales to call yourself a guitar player there are severel famous guitar players who dont know more then 3 chords and only a few scales... if you practise and really have the soul that a guitar player have to put in it to make it sound good you dont need the scales (alltough it can help you to learn the scales)
That's all true however I strive for perfection in all I do. So I will never consider myself a real player until I know the language of guitar. BUT the main goal is simply to have a ton of fun learning and playing AC/DC, so even though I am not a true guitar player I'm still having a kick ass time messing with it as a hobby. Fun is the driving force. My career doesn't allow enough time to devote to becoming an expert guitar player so it remains a hobby. A very fun one :)
hey does malcolm play the intro bit through out the verse? or does the riff change when angus and the drum come in??..im a drummer and the tabs are confussing me lol! i figured out the opening riff buh then I get lost when angus does those long sustained notes!
And I've never heard someone say "Angus sucks", if anyone does just say this, "Really...angus sucks? I bet you could ask anyone who ACDC is and they'll know" I mean honestly, why do you think they're famous? Besides their singer, angus basically made the band famous with his crazy antics on stage and amazing guitar solos that were out of this world.
...Your great though =D I might play this on my SG. Keep rockin bro
Thanks for the compliment slowly but surely getting better.
It's not hearing that he sucks. It's hearing that he's not good because they think he's not technical. From my point of view, basically, their ears are not fast enough to actually hear what he does so it just sounds like a bunch of notes smashed together maybe I don't know that's just a guess. Without the brothers there'd be no band, and without their perfect tones and skills complimenting the other...terrible thought! LONG LIVE ACDC
But seriously I think Angus is utterly and totally under rated by way to many people. I see a lot of statements by NON AC/DC freaks that he's not very good and technically terrible etc etc shit like that. However anyone that -successfully- plays exactly like him, with perfect muting, timing and 'soul' always have years of practice and are exceptional guitar players... so if it takes someone like that to play like he does, then... doesn't that mean Angus is exceptional? :)
i would put the 9's on now so u can get used to them, and i woulndnt put a full pickguard on that i did it on my gibson 62 reissue and i had to cut the pickgaurd to make it fit and it doesnt cover up some of the holes from the old pickgaurd. it just doesnt fit.and it would make the value go way down.keep up the good work, something different for once not that many videos of shake your foundations on youtube.
Been using 9's for awhile now and I defintiely like them. EB super slinky. And THANKS for that info about the pickguard! I'm doing 'decent' so far at not just shredding the shit out of the unprotected areas still would like a real guard. If a full guard supposedly design to fit a SG doesn't fit, either the manufacter of the guard did it wrong or the SG reissues we have deviate from the physical size or layout of an original.
Very, very nice. I used to be a crazy AC/DC fan and I still am, just not as much. I would suggest tunes such as Crazy Train (Ozzy), Cat Scratch Fever (Ted Nugent), and Panama (Van Halen) if you want some great simple tunes with easy solos! Those were pretty easy for me when i was starting out ; )
Thanks! It's funny you mention Ozzy... there's a ton of their stuff I dig and I would L O V E to eventually be able to play Bark At The Moon. I f'kn love the rhythm and muted grind speed picking in that tune. My fingers are still to much like bricks, but I am definitely improving slowly when I get time to play. I'll be extremely happy when the day arrives that I can play BATM properly. AC/DC is perfect for learning and getting loose. Simple but excellent rhythm in everything. Favorite band.
Thanks was a fun one. I'll probably be redoing or reposting this in Stereo soon. This is the only 'solo' I've tried so far because it's so simple. It's about the simplest I'm aware of.
Hey cool man! I love it too. One of their simplest but coolest in my book. I love the entire Fly on the Wall album. Totally underrated maybe the crappy too-80's like video they made (and regretted later) for it turned folks off. But who gives a f'k about a crappy video to love a song or an album. All I know is, when I'm crankin AC/DC in the house or the Jeep, it sounds goooood.
yep.. I will second that, flick of the switch is another over looked album, can`t wait to hear the new one, I loved Bon and never got to see him he was awesome, but seen Brian 6 times and shook his hand the last time they played in the UK at sheffield arena...a real top bloke, keep rocking out dude...you can`t beat the dc..
Very true fots is another good example. Currently have every studio CD they've released. Slowly pickin up live versions here and there but I'm partial to studio because it's super clean and consistent. I look now and then in local stores, cc, frys, just to see what the 'big chains' actually carry for them. Pathetic... really pathetic. Glad I've been collecting so long couldn't get them from those turds. Would have to get them online. Anyway slam out your version and post it lets have a listen!
I think most were turned off from FOTS and FOTW because they were self-produced by AC/DC, so the recordings aren't as good, or mixed as well as Mutt Lange did them, and Brian's voice had tons of reverb. The songs were great though. The chords for Send For the Man are so powerful sounding, don't you think?
Yep that's one of the songs I'll be redoing very soon with the SG actually. sftm is one of my absolute favorites, precisely because it's raw blasting power. But fotw has so many great ones. I actually like the difference in recording for that album. It's totally raw and wide open. Didn't know it was self-produced but that does explain it.
Thanks! Hey cool good luck with it! My progress is very slow on solo. Don't have enough time to grind scales until my hands fall off. BUT.. that's definitely the key. I figure as soon as I can go up and down every minor pent scale (at-least) extremely fast and smooth, while using alternate picking, I should be able to start nailing some of the simpler solo I would think. Looking forward to it! :)
Cool thanks! Yeah I wound up buying a number of stompboxes + a double tube overdrive over time trying to get closer to AC/DC sound. But then while I was getting the Gibson I saw the X3 and started lookin at it. Threw down some green for sure, but the thing is pretty impressive. Provides some really nice cabinet models + just a ton of other stuff and options. It's one flexible black slab there's no question about it. If you do get it, read manual so you can take full advantage. 2Tone rocks :)
Wow that wuz pretty good. I actually want to watch it til the end. Awesome
