It is because of people like Clarke that the south has as bad of a reputation that it does. I'm not saying that it is a walk in the park to be different than the bible belt mold here but the people are maturing and there are more and more accepting people each day, month, and year.

I was reading student-audience responses to a panel of glbt students we had on my campus. We have a couple female-to-male transgender students on campus. One of them has finished transition and passes easily as a man, one of them has just begun transition, and the third (me) is about to begin transition. Someone wrote "Get a better woman. She made me uncomfortable. Maybe you could get the woman "John" on it, instead." How deliberately rude and evil. Chills my bones.
