speaking of the altered takes of zappa tunes. i've also heard this between the cd version and original lp version. now unless it was by some bizarre chance, the cd i got from russia, is a totally different version then the lp. i got my cd->minidisc version on right now, as i sit here at work watching the paint dry
Am I hearing post-post-production with the addition of a short delay or does this just sound a little different when I'm not stoned? I swear that some uploaders are uploading stuff with their own additions to the post-production...
@Jok3r115 OK, OK! I have found dozens of videos with all sorts of delays, reverbs, flanges, and in one case, a guitar track overdub(!) added..... I just didn't recall hearing a short delay on this track... But then - it had been quite some time since I'd put on my cherry slabs of vinyl of this fantastic album. I stand corrected. Things change when you quit weed! They sound very different... Hey, at least I left it open and didn't declare it HAD been done period, right? I could go for a bonghit..
@jazzliscious13 delays, reverbs, flanges can be also caused by lousy encoding (or, when Frank remixed his material for CD, sometimes he used too much digital reverb compared to original mix), additional guitar solo can be also "alternate mix" of the song, also thing not uncommon for Frank
The bulk of the monologue comes from one of the original Mothers band members taped by Frank, and included, I think, in the midst of the Lumpy Gravy album....one of few I've never bought.
Great stuff
