Sadly, your kind is a dominant kind. Merely because they are not as popular as the likes of Metallica (and Slayer) as far as media coverage goes, doesn't necessarily mean that many don't know about them. Their cult status has gained them a plethora of fans over the years and they're certainly less apt to raise the eyebrow (that bands such as Forgotten Woods and Azrael achieve on a daily basis).

I'm glad you included Razor in your list, as a Canadian I wondered if Razor ever got much international or even play within North America. Malicious Intent and Evil Invaders are two of my favorite albums. A band missing from this list however is Sacrifice. Check out "Soldiers of Misfortune" by Sacrifice.

Tech thrash you mean?

Heathen, Forbidden, Voivod, Toxik, Xentrix, Wrath, Realm, Watchtower, Coroner, Artillery, etc.

Tech thrash is basically thrash bands that play a little faster and have more complicated riffs or solos. Hell, even Overkill's Years of Decay album could be considered tech thrash. Tech thrash usually doesn't follow the hardcore mosh type riffing done by typical thrash bands, and it has a lot in common with speed metal.

None of this is research, it's all based on what I hear.

The way I see it, thrash falls into 4 categories.

SPEED METAL (the lighter stuff with more traditional vocals), BRUTAL THRASH (most of the faster heavier bands like Kreator, Dark Angel, Slayer fall under this, and so do bands that people call death/thrash), TECH THRASH (what I just described), and just thrash metal (everything else).

Then there's crossover but let's not get into that.

Good explanation, though I don't consider (true) Speed metal to be thrash at all. The plain "thrash metal" that you've mentioned is perhaps the most prominent kind there is (or that exists). It's very hard (and almost pointless) to attempt to avoid oversimplification when classifying thrash 'genres'. This isn't to say that thrash itself isn't an original genre, it just isn't used to it's full potential by many of it's compatriots. It gets to a point where 'drawing the line' becomes redundant.
