  • DAMN WHY DOES LOOK CARS ALWAYS THE SAME!!!!!!

  • I will keep my 03 Honda Civic with 45 MPG on the Hwy and 38 on my 75 mile commute. Its all paid for and looks so much better then a Prius or Insight. Plug in cars are dumb........where does most of the power come from? Diesel, natural gas, coal? In Oregon there trying to shut down our dams that provide much of our power.......Wish i had oil well...

  • If I was rich, I wouldn't care about economy or the planet. But because I'm poor, I'll buy old small engined cars and use as little fuel as possible. I can get 50 mpg, local driving, 60 on the mortorway, from a 1.7 deisel that only cost £500 to buy. An Insight costs £17400. Where's the economy in that????

  • Yeah- Toyota is so far ahead. They are even the first automaker to mass produce the latest Plug In Hybrid(Prius) technology(soon to be released) which allows Prius owners the choice to plug into a regular 110v wall outlet- for approximately 35cents per charge- to drive in all electric mode for the first 35miles. Not one drop of gas :-)

  • You know, I confess to being befuddled. *Why* is it that the Prius is the only car on the road with the kind of EPA rating it has? Many manufacturers are releasing hybrids, but Toyota has the hybrid market so locked that the Prius is synonymous with the term.

With 275,000+ hybrids sold in the US each year and Toyota having almost *60%* of those sales, one would think someone else would aim for the exact same market by having the same stats.

Meh, I guess they're number one for a reason.

  • Does this so called editor has a Honda dealership or what?

  • Their asses look kinda the same but I prefer the Prius's new look.

  • and why is this a "prius killer"?

  • Toyota has a better millage than Honda, but Honda is a lot cheaper which will cover the gap for long run

  • Toyota Prius Awsome

  • The Prius is Truely a winer even though the MPG is not as good as the insight but it seats 4 fullsize adults comfortly than the insight, the the backseat of the insight is too small because there less hedroom and legroom, and I wouldn't ride in the insight unless I'm driving it or riding shotgun. the prius is lot roomier than the civic, I can sit in the back seat of the prius confortable than the civic, so Toyota wins.

  • if i am rich, i would buy loads of supercars, and then buy a prius, to park it on my driveway, u know, just for fucks sake.. :)

  • It cheaper n looks better than Prius

  • who cares which gas saver you buy as long as the middle east is selling less oil!!!!

  • Yeah the Insight is nothing more than a Welfare poor mans Prius. Funny how they compare it to the old 2nd gen model.

  • @DarkhorseMarine

The electric assist is nice because replacing the flywheel with a motor is cheap and very simple compared to what the Prius offers. The Prius gets about 10 mpg better but it costs $5,000 more base. That's an aweful lot of driving to close that gap and sorry if this is out of line but they are both gayass soccer mom hybrids as far as I am concerned. My $5000 would go towards something like bumping a Mustang V6 to a GT, not gay hybrid A to gay hybrid B but to each their own.

  • It doesn't matter which one you choose, you'll still end up looking like a fag.

  • Does it matter which one is the best? Both of them are still some of the most un-environmental cars in the world what with the ungodly heavy-pollution production process.

I could drive a 1980's car for my entire life and not create the same polution that goes into the production process and single-lifetime polution a Prius causes.

  • i tell u frankly... toyota prius sure beat Honda insight..... trust me..if u buy HONDA u will regret forever....i've been testing so many honda car..accord, civic, crv, prelude, crx, odyssey... their car just like shit... !!! dun believe ??? just try it and compare!!!

  • @antakyusilo

I own a 1994 Civic with 166,000 miles on it. I put less than $5,000 during the close to seven years that I have owned it and that includes everything other than gas and insurance. Yes, it includes the cost of the car too. I clocked it at 36 MPG on a long highway trip despite having the "sport" engine for that year.

Independent publications with much more credibility than you also test Hondas and Toyotas and they both get very good reliability ratings.

  • you fools. the greedy execs are making a profit off your conscious. driving electric makes no difference. the world is overpopulated and we are becoming a global plague. wake up and take the media blind-fold off!

  • Did he say 18k for a hybrid? Thats impressive!

  • If we talk about luxurious vehicle, I'd say that Hyundai is much more luxurious than Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen and anything else for that price ....

  • @ToughMan91

VW has a whole other level of luxury that even Hyundai can't touch IMHO but you are so right about Honda and Toyota. They have been cost cutting like crazy, especially Toyota. I swear becoming #1 is actually a curse. GM did the same thing before they went bankrupt.

  • @GarrettKeetley Yea but i dont like vw all the models look the Same and it's not that luxe as Toyota. But you might be thinking the opposite.

  • I've sat in a 2nd generation prius, a third generation prius, and the new insight. The two priuses were more comfortable, easier to get in and out of, and had a less intimidating dashboard than the insight. My local Honda dealer has a lot full of insights, but you can't find a prius for sale to save your life. All the priuses are on the road, getting 55 mpg, outdoing Camaros from red lights.

  • eh they used an old toyota prius..

the prius 2010 is 10 times better than the older 2009 version. witch is 1800 cc instead of 1500. and 130 horse power.

I live in a big city and it's perfect for that. but on the highway it's also comfortable.

    anyways i love my toyota.

  • why did they use the old prius? The old prius still has a nicer interior than the in sight.

  • "Hole" is spelled with a "W" and the Landrover is a terrible vehicle. SUVs are a threat to others, they are not safe for the occupants unlike what their owners believe, and they consume gas and pollute. But if you drive one you most likely don't care about others or the environment.

Anyone who lives for a car whether a 1970 Dodge or anything else has a sad and limited conception of human life.

  • my suv will kill both of them. Cause the drivers of them suck.

  • I will never drive a hybrid in my life. Ill stick with my 1970 Dodge. About 8 mpg and I am extremely happy with it. Before I get yelled at understand this, some people love their cars and love driving their cars. I enjoy driving to drive, not just to get where I'm going. My car is not just a mode of transportation... Its my life, its my hobby, and its my passion. So before you scold someone for driving a gas guzzler think about that...

  • @msbaugh440 im with u. im happy with my landrover v8 20mpg and also my hole life.

  • Honda wants the driver to be economical. While Toyota wants the engine to the economical. I respect Honda's way even more than Toyota. We need an economical driver, not an economical engine because there is no way everyone can buy Hybrids.

  • I consistently get 45-50 mpg with minimal effort in my Insight LX 2010 model without any "hyper-miling" what-so-ever. The EPA ratings are largely underrated on this vehicle.

  • Both cars are good and you all bought them for mainly the same reason. Stop bickering like a bunch of school girls!

  • you're better off in a diesel!!!!

  • I have to agree, for hybrids don't work well in all areas of the country; hybrids are more for "metro urban areas," such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, D.C., and other large cities with lots of traffic. Between the Prius and "new Insight," I'd take the Honda, for it's less like a kitchen appliance, and it just seems to be a better car overall. It's too bad that Honda won't bring its fine diesels here to the US, for they would sell well, but it could "cut" into the Hybrid sales, just my guess.

  • Unlike Prius, Insight is more user friendly; it doesn’t have variety of throttle programmes. Just, a single feature carries out all the jobs together via the ECON mode. The indicator of ECON mode shows two types of lights – green & blue by symbolizing the fuel efficiency of the car. This is easier to comprehend and hence more favourable than Prius.

  • priuses r gay

  • Why did Honda copy the Prius body?

  • @tomgoral, look at the FIRST generation isight, then look at the first generation prius, Honda kept the relatively same design as it had with previous models when it brought the first hybrid to north america, Toyota was the one to copy the design.

  • @tomgoral Wrong, Toyota Prius copied Honda CR-X and the 1st gen Insight's body.

  • Why did Honda copy the Prius body?

  • Die Prius

  • Does no one know that neither of these cars are good for the environment.

Everyone is such a retard who buys these pieces of crap.

  • My 1996 Toyota Tercel is 40mpg and offers adequate headroom unlike the Honda Insight, and costs under $3000 in beautiful metallic blue no less too! Amazing what having reasonably well enough horsepower does for ya...

    Less is more.

  • i go and buy an H3 hahaha

  • @MrHectorAnderson UR A FAGGET! HONDA 4 THE WIN!

  • Compared to when Motor Trend was sucking GM and Chrysler's big dicks.. of course, you didn't give a shit because they are American cars. But Japanese cars are 'teh suck' to a racist moron like you

  • It amazes me SO many people sit on a youtube video arguing back and forth.. Toyta THE BEST... Honda THE BEST.. Toyota SUCKS!!.. Honda SUCKS!!!... why are you wasting your time you are not accomplishing anything you are not going to agree on ANYTHING but yet you sit here and try to ACT like you know so much about cars like your the king of everything automotive from the engines to the suspensions ect... If your this smart put it to use... otherwise... find something better to do

  • @smalltownkid2004 agreed, but if you want a hybrid that is reliable and get some decent mileage, get the ford fusion noobs, and stop arguing.

  • @smalltownkid2004 I know in the end Nissan is better lol

  • I thought the Prius killer was the Hummer.

  • Hahaha! Don´t you know there´s a new Prius built since 2009, - no chance for puppy-Insight!!

  • 1st gen insight got like 70mpg i think,,, what happened?

  • Tesla S or Fiscker Karma will kill bouth of them :))))

  • I have the older 3 cylinder Insight. That model beat Prius in highway mileage and retained a sporty nature in the 5-speed manual transmission option. I took a look at the new Insight recently. It's got 4 cylinders (less mpg), is made of steel and can carry more passengers (heavier), and is not available in a stick (less responsive). While, in my opinion, the Insight still looks better than the Prius, I think I'll wait for the Leaf.

  • actually it really doesnt matter if you spell it wrong dickhead fagget, faggot same shit you stupid mexican! =)

  • @siarheicka UR A FAGGET UR PRABABLY SAYING THAT CUZ UR A TOYOTA FAN! BTW HONDA AND TOYOTA ARE THE SAME!YEAH ITS TRUE TOYOTA IS BETTER BUT HONDA LOOKS BETTER AND THE INTERIOR LOOKS BETTER 2! HONDAS MOVING 1 STEP FOWARD WILE THE TOYOTAS MOVING 1 STEP BACK!

  • Next time, spell faggot right.

  • they both japaneese cars sooooo W.E dude thats ur opinion but im a huge fan of HONDA! im not saying toyota is trash they both good cars but the honda looks better!

  • I agree with you, Honda looks cool

  • Honda is 10X better then Toyota. in everything

  • Toyota is more reliable and they sold 2.5 times more than Honda last year 2009 (this is an accurate numbers).

  • more reliable. i work at a Honda dealer and we got a trade in. it's a 2001 Accord. 200,000 miles. i drove it. drives great, shifts great. my brother's 01 Toyota Camry has alot of problems, from Cat's to O2's. not really bad problems just it was a nickel and dime you to death kinda car. i talked the the lady with the Accord. she never had to do anything to it but oil changes and regular things that are not high cost fixes. Honda is 10x better then Toyota.

  • @Abojaafaribrahim Honda was consumer guides #1 ranking automaker in 2009.....toyota came #2 place..

  • toyotas like a little brother to Honda!

  • what...!!!!

Toyota is 4 times bigger than Honda..

Google it if you don't know

  • I used to drive Prius (my wife's car) and test drove insight, I can say confidently Priuse is better for sure.

  • the insight doesn't look as gay, thats for sure

  • who cares gay or not gay.

Try to drive both of them then came to talk.

Insight sucks and noisy and got lots of fucking lights in the dashboard like stupid (blue, green, red), and has baddddddd performance

  • i already have, the prius is definitely gay

  • i like it

  • EPA, fueleconomy(dot)gov City/Hwy/Combined Prius 2010 - 51/48/50 Prius 2004 - 48/45/46 Insight 2010 - 40/43/41 Fusion 2010- 41/36/39 HS 250 2010- 35/34/35 Jetta Tdi 2010- 30/42/34 Fit 2009- 28/35/31 RX 450h 2010- 32/28/30 Touareg TDI 2010-18/25/20 Veyron 2010- 8/14/10 All of them but the last two use very little gas! Pick the one you like the best, and don't hate the rest!
  • That's nice.

  • How would you know what I can and can not do?

  • I don't feel a need to prove anything to you. I never did, so enjoy your life and speak German as if you are the only one that can read and speak 3 other languages.

  • goodo for you

i can speak english spanish and some french

  • Prius killer! LOL - you're havin' a laugh! 40mpg.. what a joke.

  • You don't!

The batteries last the life of the Prius. It is a myth that haters say.

  • Queensland fleet of Black and White Taxis, owner Graham Boundy knows the truth about high-mileage Hybrids - and it's surprisingly good. His oldest Prius has managed a life span of 341,000 before needing replacement of their nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. The only problem even at the end of their battery pack service life was a low voltage reading. So which means the Battery started to wear out around 341,000 miles. At 15,000 miles a year, it would take u 22 years to wear the battery out

  • The Prius has AM & FM, but who uses that anymore. The Prius also comes with Satellite Radio.

  • Life of the car, not you!

  • What the hell are you talking about? What is wrong with you people, with these dumb ass statements, that mean nothing. It is just as easy if not easier to replace the battery where they have put it. It's right next to the spare tire. You have no idea what you are talking about. The battery is 3 times the size of a normal car battery, but instead of a max voltage output of 12 volts, It has a constant output of 210 volts with a max of 500.

  • For the simple minded. Nobody even replaces the battery. If they did it is right next the spare tire you moron. It is easier to replace it where it is, then under the hood. Next time you comment on something, maybe you should no wtf you are talking about. It wouldn't even fit under the hood. Go drive your VW and be happy with it. Why would you worry about something you are never going to buy. Maybe they should put the spare tire under the hood, since you think everything should be under the hood

  • You are a moron. You're telling me that you are going to buy a car the you talk shit about. You not be a very smart mechanical engineering when there is no advantage in having the battery under the hood.

  • I don't have to do research, you can tell just how smart or dumb someone is just by reading what they post. Tell me Mr. Mechanical Engineering... exactly what advantage would someone gain by putting the battery under the hood. Because you won't take it out any faster, then where it is. To tell you the truth it would be dumb to put it under the hood next to the engine. Engines get hot. You wouldn't want the battery to get hot. Also by having it in the car, it keeps it dry from the outside.

  • yes fior those types of cars that the huge battery thats ehavy has to be in the back for balance so that good for ntht particular car but not all cars. and do you ever look under your hood, the batteries on gas cars ot hybrids just regular gas cars the batteries are always, ALWAYS under the hood right there next to the engine.

  • No they are not. You are wrong yet again. Different Automakers place them in different spots. BMW puts there battery under the back seat. Some Dodge cars put their battery in the front bumper, where you can't reach it without taking the car apart. So they are not ALWAYS under the hood next to the engine.

By the way, I can see you are trying to cover for your misspelled word, by misspelling words on purpose. Nice try I see right through you.

  • By the way, Mr. I'm majoring in mechanical engineering. Research is not spelled with two a's in it.

  • The battery pack weighs 117.47 pounds. How front heavy do you want a car to be Mr. Mechanical Engineering. By having it in the back, it gives the car better balance.

  • I know that. I was making fun of your dumb statement. There is no reason to put a 117 pound battery under the hood. You made that dumb statement, trying to say that it would be easier to get to. People who own a Prius will never have to get to it in the first place. It will last the life of the car, with no maintenance. Besides, it is easier to get to right where it is, and it is kept dry and cool where it is. Plus it would make the car front heavy.

  • Who cares where your mother's and sister's car batteries are. WTF! You're a moron!

  • Well then what would be the advantage of putting it in the front of the car in stood of the back?

  • I'm not trying to make you mad. I could careless about your state of mind. You made a stupid point about the Prius because you hate it. Your point made no since because there was nothing to gain by putting it under the hood. You just want it there for no good reason.

  • Toyota is the largest automaker in the world. They sold 50,000 Priuses last month. VW on the other hand sold 5,000 Jetta TDi's. I called you a loser because you are. You hate the Prius because you like VW. It is the dumbest thing in the world to hate something just because it is not what you like. Kids do dumb shit like that. So if you want to be mature you need to start acting like it, but if you want to be a loser the hates. Well... just keep doing what you are doing.

  • Its as easy to get to as the battery as it is the spare tire. Besides if you were smart, you would realize that it wouldnt fit under the hood anyway and even if it could, there would be no advantage to putting it there anyway. You are a hater, plane and simple, trying to make some dumb ass point, that is clearly wrong and stupid.

  • I guess the tires on a car aren't meant to be changed either, since the spare is way in the back of a car next to the battery and you would have to lift the carpet up to get to it. They should put the spare tire under the hood too.

  • in curb your enthusiasm larry drives a prius

  • Prius killer my ass. Nothing is out selling the Prius! It kills everything. Toyota is trying to keep up with demand. They have deposits for more then 120,000 of them. They are trying to make 15,000 Priuses a month. 1.3 million sold and counting.

  • hellz ya

  • the prius woud win if they had tacken the 3 genration prius.

man are those gys thick or what?

  • No, they are just biased.

  • ok wth. don't call me a dumb ass cause im only 15. y does every hybrid car look so slow in videos? ok let's say a regular gas car gets 25 mpg highway and goes atleast 65mph. while a prius gets whatever, i haven't seen a prius go over 75 mph yet, if these cars get any slower, it wouldn't matter how much mpg it gets cause it would use more power than a gas car to get you to a place. right? so please can someone clear up this crap for me?!?

  • Prius-600+ miles for $25

    Normal car-300+ miles for $50

Go twice as far for half the money.

By the way, the 2004 Prius has a top speed of 108mph. That's enough speed to put you in jail.

  • pruis rocks Insight fucks

  • it fucks you?

Hmm... I need to see some footage before deciding.

  • more stupid comments from this reviewer, "very car like"? haha, the car u drive today for ppl in 1920 would be very not car like, and what is ur point? what's wrong with ur logic??

  • This car has Forced Lighting, that unnecessarily damages the environment. They are like daytime running lights but these CANNOT be turned off, even on a hot sunny day!

Daytime Running Lights cost US drivers 1.2 Billion per year in lower gas mileage.

  • KrellLab you have to be the queerest person I have ever heard in my life lmao, liberals are killing this country!!!!

  • the insight is only beating the prius cuz its comparing it to the 09 prius ... if it were 2010 insight vs. the 2010 prius, prius would be the more fuel efficient car

  • The Honda cant even touch the Prius. The Prius has soo much more innovative technology than any other car on the road today.

  • At least the Honda will stop when you want it. With the recent Toyota "cost and safety cutting" measures. I wouldn't trust Toyota.

Not only that look at the design aesthetics. The Insight is sleek and cutting edge inside and out and the Prius looks like an over-sized odd shaped piece of plastic, and, it is over priced in terms of the cheap parts Toyota is putting in its vehicles to cut cost and maximize profits. At their customer's some time "death" expense. Toyota is over-rated hype.

  • @Hiteminthewallet

    110% AGREED!

  • @LexusISF2009

Like what? Oh yeah thats right Toyota Prius has a innovative technology called Unintentional Accleration that killed over 115 people. Your right Honda cant even compare...

  • your mom said that about you when you were born

  • Ouch.

  • so...you're saying you're gay?

    To admit that...on youtube..wow!

  • He's just a loser.

    He can't help it.

I mean look at him. He's 42 years old, posting like he was 16, going to videos of things he hates.

Something tells me he has an unhappy life.

  • Hes Not Gay Hes Just Saying How The Insight Is Better Than The Prius So If You Think Hes Gay Than Dont Watch It ( And P.S. i Know Yr Gonna Write Something Rude Back Dont Waste You Energy I'm Not Gonna Care) : )

  • Why do you capitalize the first letter of every word you write?

  • Idk Habit

  • The Insight has the same emissions rating as a tundra 5.7! The Insights AC will not work without running the gas engine! The Insight is not even a REAL Hybrid nor does it have even a third of the torque of the Prius, and the Insight is better? 1.3l sohc < 1.8l dohc vvti and almost no emissions. Owned!

  • o......... thats what he said i hate insight

  • insight is a mix of a lot of hondas

    front: jdm honda odyssey

    rear: honda accord/insight(old)

    inside: civic

    Doors: FCX

    Wheels: CRV

  • You left out Jazz/Fit...thats the platform it's built on

  • excellent presentation. It's like your a salesperson for the product.

  • wow it looks so well strange i dont like it one bit

  • Another load of ECO crap from the Wall Street junk pedalers. The production of this hybrid junk is based on a short life time car creating a need to replace the expensive battery system, thus profit. The current production is a loss leader propped up on the fossile fuel powered models profits. Give these models 10 years and see what bargain to your finances and the enviroment is. Do you think electricity is clean. Hydroelectric yes. Wind ,yes solar yes. Diesel, and coal no. Where do U get volts

  • The Prius has a warranty of 8year/100,000 kms on it's battery pack in all states, and 10 year/150,000 in many. How many companies are offering warranties like that on conventional engine parts? The out of warranty failure rate of Prius Battery packs is 1 in 40,000. Many cab drivers in Vancouver B.C. are using the Prius both for it's fuel economy, and HIGH reliability. Replacement of Battery packs is about $3000 parts, $900 labor. You'd be hard pressed to find a conventional vehicle (con't)

  • (from previous) wher you could replace major drive train components (engine or transmission) this cheaply. I was skeptical of these things and the battery packs when they first came out, but they've been out for over ten years, and they've proven themselves. Prius is often rated one of the top 10 most reliable family cars out there, and that's not just in a hybrid comparison, but up against conventional vehicles. These vehicles are set up as primarily gas vehicles with electric power (con't)

  • (from previous) assistance. Thus they can utilize the electric motor to substancially increase fuel economy, while at the same time, draw from the battery in such away that they can assure maximum battery life. The battery is charged/discharged, optimally for the life battery.

  • Oh wow, the exact same cars. Clever.

  • it's the same shape because that specific shapes gets a car good mileage

  • yea, i agree with CircusFreakGRITZ.

  • fuck

  • I have yet to drive the new Prius, but I drove the Honda yesterday and here are my impressions:

The car feels like a tin can: the doors close with an awful cheap sound, the interior materials look and feel cheap, and the car is terribly slow (I think it's even slower than my wife's 95 Jetta).

I can't argue the ergonomics and MPGs, but I would never buy it new. "Maybe it's good for my friend" kind of car.

  • now thats smarter idea than even the new prius...but i can see cops giving tickets for dricing too slow because they want to drive GREEN.

  • ugliest cars ever made

  • agreed

  • hi5!!! :D

  • Let us not forget the 1992 Honda Civic VX

this car was rated at 55 mpg and had performance with its v-tec engine.

It also had lots of room with its hatchback and sold for a whopping 11000 dollars

  • People should stop claiming that the the Prius is "totally better" than the insight. It's true that the 2010 Prius is more fuel efficient, has a more sophisticated powertrain, has more room, and it's more upscale. The Insight is cheaper (and better looking according to many), and has less golf cart like handling characteristics. It's a good car regardless of how it compare to other or whether or not it's a hybrid.

  • I'm not sure. From what I've heard, the new Prius is actually better in pretty much every measurable aspect, and I've actually not heard a single person tell me the Insight looks better. The Prius does not handle like a golf cart -- check out other reviews which compared it to a more upscale Toyota/Lex. All that combined with an MSRP difference that is far less than the $3000 initially speculated, and I don't see how the Insight wins.

  • Traditionally, Toyotas tend to provide better ride quality and refinement as far as comfort is concerned, while Hondas tend to be sportier and have better (firmer/less spongy) handling characteristics (which's harsh and uncomfortable to some). The 2010 Prius has its chassis based on the chassis of the Corolla, which's almost universally regarded as a reliable, solid but unathletic conventional compact car, while the 2010 Insight features a suspension design drived from the very athletic Fit.

  • what about the crash test ratings?

  • he HAD to compare the 2010 insight with an earlier model of prius. -___-

it should be 2010 honda and 2010 prius!

  • the interior is sexy in that honda..

  • i love the insight too. love hondas even though the prius is hard to beat.

  • 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid Goes 1445 Miles on a Single Tank of Gas Way Better than Prius

  • Apples to Oranges. Although the Fusion Hybrid is my favorite Hybrid.

  • Where do you think that technology came from? Thats Toyotas old Technology, You will soon find out that the 2010 Prius will own all.

  • insight cannot compete with the prius. nice try honda.
