  • shit i was my moms remote control till we got cable in 83 i nearly cried when the remote came with cable box lol

  • They should put that on TV just before a movie just to mess with people.

  • Kind of reminds me of Superman...

  • second best behind ABC i think

  • Wow , now this was the Hay Day of T.V. I just don't know why Television station's don't have this kind of Razzle Dazzle anymore.

  • @jayce79 ain't that the truth.

  • Ah, so that's where Channel Seven in Australia nicked the early 1980s movie intro from - makes a change from the wholesale lifting from NBC that they're better known for.

  • Those are still some badass title effects to this day.

  • this almost gets you dancing!

  • Back when we had good movies and tv.

  • So true....

  • I think this was from the late 1970's, 1977/78 although it could have been in use up to the early 1980's. I remember summer vacations, after the 11 PM News, CBS switched back to the network and showed late night movies and they used the old intro bumpers well into the 1980's.

  • My god, Im having flash backs! LOL. I feel like im on an acid kick!!!! i was born in 74!

  • 75 here. I just know my parents are about to watch something boring.

  • Or Richard Kiel's teeth are going to freak the shit out of me.

  • Oh man, how I miss those days. Having all the technology today is great and all, but I miss those simple days. And publica74 We had the exact same problem, only the knob broke off but we were able to stick it on and still change the channel if we held it there. HA-HA! Too funny.

  • Somehow, we managed to get by not having everything "on demand" How was this possible?

A primitive world where humans walking upright weren't texting each other all day?

We had to actually utter the stupid $hit we text now!

    Unthinkable! Lol!

  • Don't forget that you might have had a set that had to warm up. We have a 1970 Zenith where it took at least 30 seconds for the sound to come up and then a minute later, the picture. Thar was our first color TV and I still have it. I know she needs a tube and then she should work although I have to diddle with the convergence.

  • Awesome

  • Back in the early 80's my bedtime was ALWAYS 9'o clock. I saw the intro but never the movie used to piss me the f*ck off

  • Well, if you go on a shooting spree, you can blame your parents that you never got to see the late night movie b/c your bedtime was 9 o'clock and as a result, you had a lousy upbringing. That's what everyone else uses as a defense in court.

  • Heh, I was planning to use the "Big Wheel Defense" if I ever had to, my parents never got me a "Big Wheel." Everyone else had one. B-)

  • AHHHHHHHHH memories!

  • It is good, to have those memories. Thanks for putting these up!

  • A lot of CBS' movie and sports packages sounded very similar. Listen to the football music and NBA music packages of the era and you'll agree. But they all were great!!

  • You saw this and knew you were about to watch something good. I always loved the cutting of the film and the cameras and lights. This was when you had to wait for a movie instead of having them on demand 24/7.

  • Very powerful intro.

  • THIS is where the G4 movies that don't suck intro is from..It was escaping me in being so....familiar!

  • we all had something in common to talk about the next day at the office

  • This remind me of going out into the yard and turning the antenna until my dad would yell "OK THAT GOOD"

  • reminds me of superman: the movie (1978)

  • It doesn't go the whole way!!!!!!! bad.

  • OMG...I so remember this now. Does anyone remember the ABC After School Special? Supposed to be doing homework, but sat in front of the TV instead. Remember when TV's had to "warm up" because of "tubes" and you had to adjust the vertical and horizontal "scrolls"? LOL...I feel so old.

  • I remember the channel knob broke and I had to use pliers to change the channel on our old RCA 19' color T.V.... before remote controls...:-)

  • That happened to us too!!!

  • ,,should have bought a Magnavox or Zenith,,,lol

  • @publica74 Everytime I ask people over 40 if they ever had to use pliers to change stations on the old sets, everyone always says yes!

  • @publica74 you had color?!

    13" B&W baby

  • @publica74 I did the same thing.

  • @publica74 I can still hear my mom telling us kids not to "rip the TV". When you had to get out the pliers, you'd ripped the TV.

  • @publica74 Hehe, you too, huh

  • Well said, I was thinking the same thing. :)

  • The human mind is an amazing thing. All the little things that are stored way back in your brain, and you don't even realize it until you see it again.

  • I love the colorful neon and effects against the black backdrop.

  • Great memories. I loved the way they would roll right into the best movie scene teasers right after this like a good DJ. In particular I think of it rolling into audio cuts from Rocky. Burgess Meredith chiding him to go on from the corner etc....

  • crud, you cut the ending short. ???

  • this ran from late 1979 to 1983 and then a hiatus and then back again from sept 1985-march 1986 and then they retired it

  • I was always excited to see this because it meant it was almost time to leave grandma's house and I could go home!!! :)

  • I'm 9 years old again! Excellent!

  • I know me too! With my feet pajamas. LOL

  • Ha! Feet pajamas..!

  • Jesus! I hadn't seen this since way back!!! Thanx for posting it!

  • this was from 1979 til about the summer of 1983 rite?

  • OMG, I remember humming to this when it would come on back then. Thanks for the memories. GOOD days back then.

  • Fantastic Intro!!

  • I feel so old! LOL
