Ah, so that's where Channel Seven in Australia nicked the early 1980s movie intro from - makes a change from the wholesale lifting from NBC that they're better known for.
I think this was from the late 1970's, 1977/78 although it could have been in use up to the early 1980's. I remember summer vacations, after the 11 PM News, CBS switched back to the network and showed late night movies and they used the old intro bumpers well into the 1980's.
Oh man, how I miss those days. Having all the technology today is great and all, but I miss those simple days. And publica74 We had the exact same problem, only the knob broke off but we were able to stick it on and still change the channel if we held it there. HA-HA! Too funny.
Don't forget that you might have had a set that had to warm up. We have a 1970 Zenith where it took at least 30 seconds for the sound to come up and then a minute later, the picture. Thar was our first color TV and I still have it. I know she needs a tube and then she should work although I have to diddle with the convergence.
Well, if you go on a shooting spree, you can blame your parents that you never got to see the late night movie b/c your bedtime was 9 o'clock and as a result, you had a lousy upbringing. That's what everyone else uses as a defense in court.
A lot of CBS' movie and sports packages sounded very similar. Listen to the football music and NBA music packages of the era and you'll agree. But they all were great!!
You saw this and knew you were about to watch something good. I always loved the cutting of the film and the cameras and lights. This was when you had to wait for a movie instead of having them on demand 24/7.
OMG...I so remember this now. Does anyone remember the ABC After School Special? Supposed to be doing homework, but sat in front of the TV instead. Remember when TV's had to "warm up" because of "tubes" and you had to adjust the vertical and horizontal "scrolls"? LOL...I feel so old.
Great memories. I loved the way they would roll right into the best movie scene teasers right after this like a good DJ. In particular I think of it rolling into audio cuts from Rocky. Burgess Meredith chiding him to go on from the corner etc....
shit i was my moms remote control till we got cable in 83 i nearly cried when the remote came with cable box lol

They should put that on TV just before a movie just to mess with people.

Somehow, we managed to get by not having everything "on demand" How was this possible?
A primitive world where humans walking upright weren't texting each other all day?
We had to actually utter the stupid $hit we text now!
Unthinkable! Lol!
