my mom grew up with a saying that goes something like "men: left hand, women: right hand"

that being said though-- in daily life, i don't often see rings worn at all. i really only see couples take out their rings for special events, especially weddings. but even then, people wear the ring or wedding band on whatever hand they feel comfortable with.

all in all though, no matter what different cultural meanings are attached-- the one thing that's always been the same over the centuries is that a ring is a circle that has no beginning or end, representing eternity
