My college in Secunderabad, DBPM College for Women, adapted this song during the period 1990-92. This was the welcome song in almost very event that took place in our college and our NSS volunteers continued at the State-level camp held at OU Campus during the end of 1991.

I remember very well how this song used to ring in our ears around Asiad and for some reason. I had heard that some colleges and schools used this song for years after Asiad and looks like yours is one of them. I am trying to bring back all the nostalgic songs of yesteryears.

Great conduction and orchestration. The presentation is professional. The quality of audio in this video fantastic. Though the tabla was used more, the  mridangam sound comes across beautifully. I think I can recognize atleast one person in the above group singers....nostalgic.

@gumnamish Thanks for posting devnagri lyrics. I think there is a slight difference from the version I had. My source had the lyrics as " प्रमुदित बंधु भावनाएं " instead of "प्रमुदित नई भावनाएं". I am not sure which is correct. If you are sure of yours, probably when we perform next, we will use your version of lyrics.

@ibadni It means you don't understand meaning of the lyrics. There is no reference to any religion nor there are religious sounding words. Unless you are saying "Mangalam", is a religious word but it'[s used in a totally different context.

the original soundtrack is available with VIVIdh Bharathi Mumbai kendra and they use the first 2 line for one of their weekly programe. If any one from DD or AIR can be kind enough to upload it for fan like me .we all would be higly obliged.

alas! if A.R.Rahman would have once seen this before composing the theam song for CWG 2010, he has miserably failed to give his own magical touch to the song.The current Song may be remembered for 5 crores he has charged for composing it and the kalmaaadi effect to it.

@srinikishore dear srinikishore, of course its my best compliments to your entire team. the current song i mean with the one composed by ARA for Cwg games. being out of India you may not be aware that rs.5 crors were paid to ARA for composing theam song and you must be aware of the news about the huge curruption involved.

@pbalankhe I tried to listen to Rahman's composition and turned it off, it was so bad. They should have requested greater composer than Rahman to write the lyrics and compose the song. If I remember right, the opening tune was played by Ustad Bismillah Khan saheb and the song was composed by Pt Ravi Shankar.

Awesome to hear this wonderful song. Nostalgia strikes....I danced on this song way back in 1985...I have been looking for the original soundtrack for ever. I had it recorded from DD onto a tape that died :-(
