I think, even if it serves it's practical purpose, that is goes absolutely against the principle of participating on environmental conservation based on science, ethics and of course, foresight. The religious population worldwide is already causing trouble, specially fundamentalists in America who stimulate poor evolutionary instruction in schools, please don't make it worse. New technology is not enough to make ppl realize the importance of nature. Nor will the anthropocentric religions and the philosophy of materialism (which most westerners follow) help nature. Things are simple: You need on average 1 square kilometer to feed 1 human being for one year on a sustainable way. Technologie can not change this simple truth: limited water/ air/ space/ natural resources. Now we have the choice: 1.limit and control the population (according to the earth capacity)/ or 2.let everyone have his "human rights"= having as many children as one wants. And end up killing each other for space/ air/ water/ food... We can choose or we can let the nature choose for us.

I agree with some of what you mentioned. A child policy should be implemented, but maybe a two-child policy. The current population of 6 billion isn't too bad, and a two-child policy should be sufficient. China is actually doing a pretty good job in implementing its one-child policy, but on the downside, the male to female ratio in China is now unbalanced...cultural reasons.

Any child policy is wrong. It shouldnt be a forceful law, its ok if a countrys in dire need but not in the free world, your forgetting that a lot of people die every day too and the higher amount of births is only slight.

I think we need to pay more attention to some facts. In case you haven't noticed, the global food supply is out of line right now. Sure, there's still enough food in the world to feed the current, global human population, but the fact remainds that a lot of that food simply isn't available to some of the population. They don't have access to it.

That's why you see images of starving children suffering from nutritional disorders and poverty stricken families who have multiple children (in the hopes that one of them will live) in news stories and magazines.

So, are you saying it's ok to watch people suffer and not do enough to help them as opposed to effecting policies to curb the population and help those that you can? Think about it. Plenty of people talk about helping those sick and hungry and so forth. But when it comes down to reality, how much is done? How much is willing to be done by those that can help?

Maybe things are all warm and cheery in your nation and mine (even though many overlook the fact that the destitute in first-world nations are on par with those in the third-world), but not so in those countries where it is a daily struggle to survive, grapple with life, and feed those whom you love most.

The point that I was trying to make is that the current generations(as the men in the video stated) have been expending Earth's resources very quickly. In developed nations, materialism is viral thanks to capitalism & the media.

Countries in Asia and Africa will continue to develop. It can't be stopped, and it shouldn't be stopped. By all means, the purpose of development around the world is to improve the standard of living of other human beings.

The Earth can't sustain such expensive use of its limited resources. But right now, when people think of development they imagine populations consuming and living as luxuriously as Americans do. The idea of curbing the human population is nothing new. I merely advocate that idea with the intention and hope that those most developed nations additionally and unconditionally(which is doubtful) provide those developing nations with the technology and education necessary to enjoy a better and sustainable standard of living so that the indigenous peoples will have no need to have numerous offspring just to fight for survival(which is the case in most of the "third-world").

It will take time to educate our underprivileged brethren and sisters in the third world and even more time to widely distribute more sustainable technologies. Measures need to be implemented now. Just as more Green technologies and modes of living neeed to be adopted now in modernized nations around the world(in fact, I believe that child-policies should be enacted in modern nations too).

Countries that really need to get down on population control are India, most Malay-states (esp. Indonesia), and less so, some African states. Those are the countries that are still showing some frightening population growth figures and that need control.

However, I disagree on shutting down borders. Shutting down borders will only fuel racial divide and state enmity. What needs to be done to promote global economies is increased regulation and diplomatic activity between all sovereignties.

Every part of your body came from materials of the Earth. We, as humans, ARE the Earth (in its most evolved form).

Mother Earth has been very patient with us. But, if we start threatening its existance as we are now it will, quite simply, wipe us out. It has only to "belch" loudly, a huge plate collapse and resulting 2 mile high tidal wave would wipe out our civilisation. Would take a few hours.

But politics, capitalism, greed, and lust stand in their way.
