The security guy's name is ELWYN PIERCE. he is NOT a security guard, rather a civilian once entrusted with the keys to Denbigh, although that is much more of a metaphorical description these days as the keys are redundant now. He is pretty well known among the Urbex community for threatening people with his alsatian and occasionally being accompanied by a guy who carries a gun. He has made threatening remarks to many explorers at Denbigh, and needs to be reported by everyone he has threatened!

We got in via the sheepfields and came in by a weighing-station and the church. Spent about 2 hours wandering around inside, found a courtyard completely covered in loose bricks, a dead Owl in the Turkish baths and plenty of other stuff
Then we moved closer to the front entrance and found a more modern block added to the front, inside we found a walk in safe. Me and a mate got inside, my mate started screaming. The Guard found us cos of the noise, escorted us out after the dog tried to bite me.
I've never been in the grounds but I've been photographing things for my art projects outside the gate (on the road side, no trespassing) and the guard has even been rude and accusing about that. He does not say hello, just "what are you doing?" in an accusing voice. He is rude. He lets some people in, and not others, which is stupid. People want to document it, its being left to ruin... in general people don't want to cause trouble, just photograph. Shouldn't be a problem.
@MushroomMai i shoot on the denbigh mental grounds with a shooting buddy and am very friendly with the guard,he`s only like that to people because of dangers of the place,only a couple a weeks ago a man fell through the floors stealing lead
@johnwelshmorris5 Fair enough if people are entering the building...but we weren't even on the grounds, and had no intention of entering the grounds. He needs to give some people the benefit of the doubt, he is always rude to us when we are simply stood outside the gate. He has even followed us around the back when I was filming on the foot path for a college film. People may respect him and his job more if he was a little less rude towards us who aren't doing anything wrong.
@johnwelshmorris5 I understand the building is dangerous, and entering it is a very silly idea, but when your only outside the gate... it's a bit out of order to start accusing you. Everyone isn't there to go inside, or even go on the grounds.

Im only 13 and i nearly crapped myself! when we were in one of the corridors, i saw something walking into another room at the end of the corridor, i told my dad and he didnt believe me so he looked and two people who were also trespassing walk towards us! then we met 7 chavs in the corner saying oh shit we've been caught! but then we walked out with them and saw the other two people on thw way out, the the patroller came....

I was here on my own yesterday (I was supposed to meet someone who never turned up) and was chased up the road by him after being caught in a field by the nurses residence and was threatened with assault from him and his dog. Since I was on my own I was fucking so I filed a police report against him for forcing me to delete my pics and the above. What a cunt.
The police say they've taken the incident down as a crime and they'll try to remove him.
@theprodigyfan when you trespass onto private land but have not done any damage you cannot be prosecuted all they can do is ask you to leave , he was definitely in the wrong to threaten you , and if i was you i would have gone to the police as well !
@theprodigyfan also i`d just like to add that he has no rights whatsoever to either confiscate your camera or force you to delete your pics , you would have been well within your rights to refuse !
A bit unfair man. The old guy's been around a while, and I'm sure he loves the place as much as everyone else does. Unfortunately, he's had to watch the place get torn apart by vandals, so I can understand why he's so defensive.

@SicSociety1 the law states that you CANNOT be prosecuted for trespassing on private land UNLESS you have done some damage , even if the police are involved all they can do is ask you to leave , if you refuse or become argumentative then you probably WILL be arrested but very unlikely to be charged with anything
