@garuda330 actually, not all Airbus aircraft have always had winglets. The A300-600A and -600B didn't have them, and it wasn't until the -600R (they skipped CDEFGHIJKLMNOP and Q - LOL) that they added the small wing fences currently being used. Also, the A320 didn't always have winglets. If you look at the movies of the A320's back when they first came out, they didn't have them. And the A350XWB has sort of blended winglets.
Can anyone explain why Hawaiian is switching to an Airbus fleet? They've been Boeing loyal, and a fleet of 787's and 777's could have worked just as well. I doubt Boeing's 777 line is backed up, and the A350's EIS will be much later than the 787's.
@scaremenga They did say they wanted fuel efficiency as a top priority, and I assume they picked the A332 because they could get them on their fleet a lot quicker than the 787. As for the A350's generally most airlines choosing the A350 are choosing it for the bigger capacity, like how United is using it to replace their 747s while using the 787 to replace their 757 and 767 fleet.
@ChainChomp2 The choice for A330's makes sense, as it's a more than capable replacement to the 767, and is obviously ready before the 787. On the other hand, a 777 would be an equal or better choice for an airline wanting to increase their capacity, more range, more passengers. That being said, I've thought about this matter. And Airbus does have a better offer.. for a small-ish airline like HA, it makes sense to go one way or the other. Clearly, they've chosen Airbus.
It seems all Airbus fleet have a winglet...
except the A350XWB

@garuda330 A350 XWB does have winglets, they're just blended rather than the current A330/340 angled ones.

it decreases the effect of negative drag saving fuel and making it less turbulent.

more range greater effiency less fuel= more money

saves fuel and drag so it saves money
