NAFTA had its positive effects, but it seems as if it was only written to benefit large distributors and manufacturers who can afford to sell much larger quantities than small businesses. The secondary effect is more freight traffic through border areas, and a lot of people started customs brokerage businesses. But like you said, NAFTA caused even more deindustrialization. The real benefits were only for big business, and fuck the rest.

Do you even know who is being taxed? Medical equipment industry (who has prfited off our sicknesses for a long time) An add on 3.8% tax for wealthy individuals medicare. And the mandate in and of itself is the largest tax hike in our history. Who do you think is going to pay for such a mandate? Whose pocket is it coming out of? EVERYONE will suffer. Has Obama himself even claimed that he didn't raise taxes? If he made such a claim then it is another bold faced lie coming from Barack Obama, a bigger liar even than Bill Clinton.

The money is coming from taxing medical equipment companies (who have overcharged and made billions costing our insurance to go up every fucking year). Adding 3.8% to rich peoples medicare. This benefits the whole country and only costs rich people and companies a few dollars.

The tax rate for the wealthy use to be 91% now its 38% (which is fine), but a lot of wealthy people have off shore accounts and don't even pay their current tax rate. Opening a company use to be a gift from the people and the government in allowing somebody to make a profit based company and with that came responsibilities.I'm not a communist even though your god beck says so.

@ancientastronomer My parents had an electronics store near the Mexican border and most of their revenue came from wholesale. NAFTA made it easier for their clients to simply order from distributors and have entire pallets trucked into Mexico through customs brokers.
Needless to say, my father had to cut his losses when he couldn't make payroll, lease, etc. with only retail revenue. They closed shop and laid off ~20 workers. At least we agree on one thing.

NAFTA had its positive effects, but it seems as if it was only written to benefit large distributors and manufacturers who can afford to sell much larger quantities than small businesses. The secondary effect is more freight traffic through border areas, and a lot of people started customs brokerage businesses. But like you said, NAFTA caused even more deindustrialization. The real benefits were only for big business, and fuck the rest.
