  • Interesting video. Thumbs up! :)

  • 5:15 he says dick

  • @Alpha8264 That's the guys name.

  • @AliguzKnight

    ohhh soz then

  • Sheet cork is expensive so I used cork tack tiles which you can get in bundles for like $5.

  • 6:59 sex face!

  • thanks for this vid it has really helped me with my train layout :)

  • 6:55 that how u look at ur mother?! lol

  • Your vid is a favorite on Dominica

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is 1 ugly long-haired rotten-teeth old-looking hippie bastard but he seems to know how to build a layout. So keep up the good work but put on a mask next time so we don't get ill looking at you, dude.

  • @sigzor302620

    Wow... what a douche.

  • @cme1ca WHO?

  • This video is a favorite on Podgorica

  • Work that cork, Dick!

  • This is the same Michael Gross from Family Ties and Tremors. Whodathunkit? Model Railroader or paid spokeman?

  • @HNewton48 He was damned cool in Tremors, so I would like to think he's a hobbyist.

  • @HNewton48 he is an actual model railroad enthusiast, but I'm sure he got some cash for doing this.

  • @HNewton48 Id bet spokesman, woulda been cool to have him in the video tho

  • nice layout, however, i do prefer atlas code 100 , more realistic.

  • very nice...

  • @greatestHobby As the foam is called?

  • Does anyone know the name of the music played at 5:54?

This 'How to' video really is quite impressive and enjoying to watch. Again good choice of music, very fitting.

  • Where do you get the foam? The only one I have found has aluminum covering on both sides. I haven't seen this blue one anywhere.

  • Do you have to have foam board down to make the scenery. Like painting and etc? or can you do to straight on the wood?

  • My dad used to bring me to model train shows. He constructed the table when he was younger, and since then we have run out of room in our house. (It's considerably bigger than the one in the video.) Hopefully someday when I find a place on my own I can put it and build a layout, and hopefully YouTube will still be around then. I'll probably refer back to this video.

  • @dwarrren9 Your dad used to take you not bring you !!!

  • @dfutli Thank you, grammar nazi.

  • that benchwork is gonna be loud. the plastic roadbed attached directly to the foam is asking for extra noise. vibration absorbing roadbed like woodland scenics. floor silencing foam available at good hardware stores, it works bitchin. foam sheets from craft stores, too. best quieting substrate is a thick layer of RTV silicone. prep with care- the ammonia can eat foam.

  • Great video, but when it's all done it is going to be the most boring layout ever. It's just a loop of track with a passing track and a spur. You lose interest real fast. I know because that's what happened to me.

  • great how to video

  • how much was the final price im wanting to build but not gonna spend a fortune

  • @816hondarider about $1,500 for it, including track and trains, scenery, and everything

  • @816hondarider I seen a article in "Modelrailroader" magazine they made a 4'x8' for $500. One thing you can do to save money make things like building out of trash (building/details/benchwork). Use meal dirt/sand/stone for scenery. Use toy cars like hotwheels for car (a little out of scale but they work) they are more cheap. I know many other ways I can PM you and tell you more.

  • i can't find foam board that big. where did you get yours.

  • @LEON13858 home depot is a great place, or lowes, possibly, i got mine from home depot

  • @terrorrname keep in mind i live in the uk i don't know where i can find home depo here. thanks anyway

  • @LEON13858 oops! srry, do you have a home supply store?

  • ooh i almost forgot maybe if you know how much will it cost

  • thanks a lot!! vary helpful!!

  • Hi I like the way you made it easy for people like me how don't know how ho make a good hill or layout thank u

  • That is a cool layout, bought a Life-Like Super City Elevated Rails train set and I have tried to make my 8x4 train table layout interesting by making a 4 tunnel mountain on one side of the table. You can see what I have done so far after a year on my video titled 8x4 Ho Scale Train Layout.

  • Roughly how long do you think it will take to finesh all of part 1 & 2? And do you lay out the tracks first then the hills & things?

  • HE SAID COCK !!!!!!!!!!

  • HIS NAME IS DICK !!!!!!!!

  • thanks for the vid! i building a godzilla monster island

  • Where did you fget the foam sheets? Home depot only had the foiled covered sheets with a regular styrafoam.

  • Absolutely first class - If anybody is still too scared to make a start for themselves after watching this set of videos then they are interested in the wrong hobby. I know that the only thing which will limit my efforts from now on will be finances.

  • im gonna make this layout in trainz gonna be awesome might post outcome in youtube woot!!! great video!!!!

  • err where can i find electric train models?? please reply ASAP!

  • @kelvin9918 ebay

  • @kelvin9918 they should have them at your local hobby shop

  • sooooooooooo much better than expertville :D

  • Today most people buy computer games such as RailWorks 2 and build their railway of derams. This is the real deal, I hope to do something like this in the future. :)

  • These vidios are so helpfull for my set. Thanks again greatest hobbies, where do you get that foam from?

  • cool i love this layout that has a model train in it and im going to start building it when im 14 and it will be easy to build when im grown up but for now im just 8 years old so im seeing videos how to build model train layouts to know how to build one when im grown up.

  • i have your set couldnt ask for a better set!

  • nice sized track some are to big

  • nice job dick

  • When shaping the foam I noticed quite a bit got into the tracks etc. and is quite difficult to get out which you didnt show. Wouldnt it be better to cover the tracks beforehand as you did in the following step? Just a thought.

  • @beachnikk yeah it would probably be smart. what i do is mark the track and take it off and then make the hills

  • this really helps thx :)

  • @jacobfain9... I got my foam from Lowe's... it should be back by roofing and insulation type stuff. I'm sure that you can find it at any similar store.

  • @atturner6 cool thanks for the help

  • @supermiigalaxy thanks for the help

  • wow i watch this video when we work on my lay out 5 stars

  • @94amtrak lol me too

  • I love these kinds of videos. Really gives me good ideas and directions on ways to build. Really a lot better than finished layouts and "Heres what I did".

  • @sestren2503 what do you mean whats the vid

  • where do you get the phome because ive been looking every where for some

  • One can get usually obtain the Dow blue, extruded polystrene foam from wholesale and retail stores that also supply lumber. I saw a large selection of Dow extruded foam at a Home Depot Store.

If your timing is right you could get some of the blue foam left-over from building or rebuilding structures in your area.
