  • B.Obamas Health Care Attempt, Will you trust this administration's policy?? See my youtube channel to Know exactly why your points of view are valued !

  • Hope her Son gets the help he needs

  • The main reason that the costs of the premiums of the medical insurance companies are so high is the regulation stranglehold imposed by the very government that seeks to offer the solution.

  • For sure, some insurance companies have been disingenuous, but this wide paint stroke president O and left leaning propagandists keep using is but a mock urgency to exacerbate the fear and anger to push a much bigger political agenda, a means to have the disenfranchised feel pressed to run by emotions and not take the time to think it through. If one actually reads the genuine bill(s) without manipulating the context it reveals their true intent.

  • The TEETH! Are they so ugly because of bad insurance policy? I'll have nightmares of them tonight...

  • Lady, why didn't you get it together and get your own talk show?

Then you'd be rich and you could afford health care.

    Teacher?

Jeeze, lady, what were you thinking?

  • Welcome to the real world lady. A lot of us have been through hell with medical problems, the government will not take care of you. This bill that will be law, how much will it cost us? I have no job or health coverage they will will get no cash out of me forcing me to get coverage.

Its better just to die and take something to ease the pain, rather then go into debt. This will cost us through higher taxes on things the middle class and poor people consume every day items, bet on it!

  • Coming up this week, August 28th on PBS, Money Driven Medicine ...watch it!

  • We need the public option. The insurance companies will screw us without it.

The Republicans want to help the rich and screw the poor. They dont care about the majority of people.

They want to cut taxes for the rich, but then there is less money for social programs for the poor and middle class. Republicans don't want a public option, because there insurance buddies wouldn't be able to make as much money.

To the blue dog democrats, dont be traitors. Get back to your democratic roots.

  • I have been seeing a lot vids on health care reform. I see a lot of people against the reform due to fear of the govt completely taking over the private sector in the medical industry, thus fears of stopping innovation. That's simply NOT true. The health insurers are out for profits--pure and simple.

Cathy, make sure you get the HIPPA certificate from your old insurance/CORBA should you decided to move to a cheaper insurance. Just read about the HIPPA certificate, then you know.

  • Oh please....it will give us a choice:

huge and expanded profits for the health insurance companies and the drug companies while continuing this pay-or-die system that has plagued this country for decades, a system that takes 20,000 lives a year, according to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. Thats about fifty to sixty people who die every day. OR nationalized healthcare where the CEO and his greed are cut out of the equation.

  • This is really funny. I've never had health insurance, especially not from an employer. I never went to college. I never lived in a house. And If I ever had a retarded baby, I'd have an abortion.

...why do stupid people always have more money than me?

  • Piscivorus,

Maybe you fall under the category of a subhuman stupid

  • better read the bill folks before you start thinking mr obama is gonna save us all

  • In this country if you have a serious illness watch out, you got to sell your home to pay the bill...

  • suziwyo,

Nice schill page assclown, did you get a copy of the bill from Ron Paul?

  • my daughter looses her coverage at 18, and I am scared for her for the same reasons...

  • Cathy, thank you for telling your story so we can see the real people behind the problems with our current health insurance system.

  • Hey lady, they will let you die because you cost the government to much money.

  • The Bill States "such consultation shall include the following An explanation by the practitioner of advance care planning including key questions and considerations important steps and suggested people to talk to an explanation by the practitioner of advance directives including living wills and durable powers of attorney and their uses an explanation by the practitioner of the role and responsibilities of a health care proxy" I will post a link to an explanation of lie being circulated

  • mbsells77, this is the second time you have made the same heartless statement to an honest American telling their predicament. What you are saying is untrue. A public health insurance option would give this family good, affordable health insurance.

  • 1. where's the kid's father? How come he isn't paying for his healthcare or insurance?

    2. Sorry, there are struggles in life. Going to college, etc., used to be earned, but now it's seen as an entitlement. I want my kid to have everything, too, but I'm not asking anyone else to pay for it. And he has medical challenges too.

You can't give better health care coverage to everyone for less money!!!

More govt health care will guaranteed cause more problems than it solves. Guaranteed.

  • Consevativo where is your heart? According to the CIA Life expectancy in the US is 50th 2 years lower than in Burmuda! Our health system ranks 37th, lower than Colombia! Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate than we do ! Don't you wonder why? Don't you care? The US became #1 by building up a strong economic base of middle class consumers Let's see how fast we make it to the bottom by ignoring what must be changed. Use logic!!

  • Yeah, people are lining up to go to Colombia and Bermuda for healthcare. Do you really believe statistics from countries run by corrupt dictators? Which country has the highest quality of life of those you mentioned? Have you considered that our life expectancy average is lowered by our high obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, which are products of higher standards of living?

Don't ask me where my heart is and then say use logic. Our system does need change, but not bankruptcy!

  • Conservativo, I used less developed countries to prove a point The statistics came from the Central Intelligence Agency Many of the countries listed above ours have as high of or higher quality of life Many other factors go into life expectancy: Knowing one's numbers Understanding the effects of high blood sugar Preventive health care

Bush left us w/ 11.8 TRIL debt 260 BIL interest per year And you complain about 60 Bil per year to save lives?

Empathy and logic are not antithetical!

  • I go to Mexico to get my dental work done, and it's cheaper to get dental work there than it is in the US with insurance. Overhead for doctors and dentist in this country is so high, because of the cost of malpractise insurance, which is another private insurance company, it's about time they got checked. And if my Government did nothing to protect consumers, I would be pissed, but they are doing something finally.

  • Seems like the GOP's only real healthcare proposal is "let's scare the population to death so that we can hand Obama a crushing defeat." Do you honestly see many of them trying to help the many American families and small businesses facing ridiculous healthcare costs, much less the 40+ million uninsured Americans? Stop eating up their rhetoric, they're manipulating you successfully. Get some facts and perspective that aren't RNC talking points and THEN make up your OWN mind. PLEASE

  • the argument is not free healthcare, it is affordable healthcare. We are still very far away from socialism. Just like helping food clothing, which you should be able to afford if you work, healthcare should be the same way.

  • What cannot be maintained in the context of an American Republic--premised on Rights endowed by God and held against Government--is the acceptability of ANY Socialist decreed rights. The student can search the Constitution from top to bottom, and not find one phrase which could suggest a Federal role in civilian health. You can scan the writings of the Founding Fathers and not find one sentence that proposes such a role. Calling a universal system American just illustrates your misunderstanding.

  • There are a lot of things in place right now that aren't in the constitution that you probably embrace wholeheartedly. This is something for the American people living right now decided by the American people living right now and that the founding fathers didn't write about it is irrelevant.

  • Tyler, you mention God? 18000 moms, dads, siblings, grandparents, babies die per yr due to no insurance. According to CIA, US infant mortality is higher than Cuba's! Canada, England Australia all have public funded health ins Are they commies? Is it justice to let a young mother die of breast cancer which could have been cured by a simple lumpectomy? Is it just for the Health insurance CEO to make 20 Million per year while children die of treatable diseases? For goodness sake THINK about it!

  • Maybe America is evolving, it's called progress, and you can save your psychobable diatribe and Ron Paul can kiss my Universal American Ass.

  • Comment removed

  • We in America have benefited because, in our belief in the individual, in our resistance (until recently) to the urge to make men equal, to make all men similar--to centrally plan and centrally control the lives of others--we have maximized our creative forces; while our would-be enemies have decimated theirs.

  • What color was your cool-aid.

boo..hoo. maybe you can get free everything.

then again maybe i would sell out your family for free stuff for mine.

  • If it is proper that a Central Authority guarantee health care, why not the more immediate essentials for life, food and shelter; why not clothing?

No one who supports this can answer this question.

  • Most can answer it but you wouldn't care for their arguments. Food, shelter and clothing can be easily serviced by simply getting out and getting any job you can find. Healthcare and healthcare insurance is something that might not be manageable with a lot of jobs and depending on the care you need you might not even be able to work. Healthcare should be seen as police and defense. It isn't free and you should contribute given your means but it shouldn't be that people are left out.

  • Bullshit.

How does a guarantee of meeting soociety's basic needs constitute communism? Do you want big business to control our schools? Our highway system? Health care? Social Security? Police and fire departments? The military? The criminal courts? Are you that happy with the way big business ran AIG?

  • HEALTH CARE IS NOT A RIGHT. You have the rights to life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness. That's all. Observe that all legitimate rights have one thing in common: they are rights to action, not rewards from other people. The American rights impose no obligations on other people, merely the negative obligation to leave you alone.

You protect the same people you are decrying. Had the capitalist system not been influenced AIG would be dust.

  • It's that kind of thinking that got the US so far down on the global scale. Go team you.

  • you are such an idiot , do you really think the new communist president cares,, not ,you can die just like everyone else once he has control over your life and your death... hey by the way the commy is providing all these great jobs with the stimulus how is your job..and now he wants to run healthcare!! he has never run anything in his life .He was handed everything in his life buit he sure talks good ,don't he... hope you like communism.. jeez how many czars do we have now...soviet union

  • Ajack, don't be such a retard. The Bushreich was the fascist regime that took away our rights, not Obama. The right wing sucking up to big business created this economic meltdown, not Obama.

The US is the ONLY developed country that doesn't have universal health care.

You have no idea what communism is.

  • Hey, BO, where is the birth certificate?

  • Cathy.. go and become an Illegal in the USA and you kid will get Great and FREE CARE

  • What we spent in Iraq and gave to Halliburton would have paid for universal health care.

  • lol, you can dream that.

  • Allowing insurance and pharmaceutical lobbyists to write the health care laws over the past several decades hasn't helped, either.

  • yea but they dont care about the people. They wanna kill all the people who are not suitable for the new world order they are trying to erect, sad to say, but this country is being destroyed by design, we are in serious trouble

  • What are you on?

  • Uh, check your facts again. The cost of the Iraq war cost about 600 billion to date. That includes Haliburton. Obama's Health plan is projected to cost $1 Trillion buckaroos. And thats just for starters. Now you do you think has to pay that $1trillion buckaroos? Ha!! You, Me, Every AMERICAN that pays taxes!! There is no free ride.

  • How much do we pay for health care at work? Health care that doesn't pay 100%, that refuses to pay for pre-existing conditions, that drops clients or raises rates every time a claim is made?

It's six of one, half a dozen of the other as far as paying for it goes.

  • Thats two different issues. Do I think some sort of reform is needed. Yes, of course. But to have it government ran, is not only wrong but a real idea.

You said the cost of the Iraq war and Haliburton could pay for this. Where did you get those numbers? I just checked, its almost 700 billion not 600 like i said before. But that was since 2003. This will cost 1 trillion just to start with. And who pays that 1 trillion? We do. I don't mind paying for a war to free a country.

  • I very much mind paying for a war to give oil to the rich. Anyone that thinks the Iraqi Occupation involved America's freedom is a fool.

Yes, we pay the trillion, but we're already paying private insurance at our jobs. I'd rather pay for something that works better, and IMO, the government's plan works better. So it's not like the entirety of the bill will be "new" money, just we're paying D.C. instead of Blue Cross.

  • Oil? Really? Where's the oil? Remember gas hitting 4 bucks a gallon last year? We get 70% of our oil from the middle East supply. And our government doesn't buy it. The greedy oil companies like Exxon/Mobil buy it. Bring it over hear then refine it, then sell it us. you don't even know what your talking about. And Iraq was about Iraq's freedom and our safety. And Bush was just finishing what Clinton said he would do. FREE IRAQ!! Clinton asked for regemi change in Iraq. Ha!!!

  • And as far as Obama's health Plan. Take a look at Canada. The waiting list. The average waiting time for a knee replacement is 2 years, here its 3 weeks, a MRI is 6 months, here its 3 DAYS!!! How bout a Cardiac Ablation, in Canada 3 years, here 1 week!!! Does it really work better?

And I'm happy with my insurance, why should I pay more in taxes so that some lazy ass who can't hold a job have insurance. That 47 million number the dems and libs keep pushing is such a scam. Do you know why?

  • Here we sit in the dr.'s office waiting room for hours.

As for Canada, my friends in Canada, England, and other parts of the world tell me they don't have any such wait times, you have been misinformed. In fact, they're shocked at how slow and incomplete our health care is here.

I had coworkers that couldn't afford insurance on their crappy wages, they worked very hard and weren't at all lazy.

  • And also your friends may not be lazy. But why do they have crappy wages. Instead of waiting on the government to save them, why don't they work on their careers? Anyhow, they are not the majority. You want revamp our hole system for 15 million Americans who can't legitimately get Health Care? Less than 5% of our population. Life is not fair, and shouldn't be fair. Buts thats Obama's policy. Fairness right? Well taxing me more because I make good money is not fair to me. Fairness is a myth!

  • The underemployed are not the majority? How disconnected are you?

    You're a right-wing plant.

We already pay for those that can't or won't pay their medical bills through taxes for medicaid and through higher prices for our own treatment. You didn't know that?

  • what do you consider underemployed? 9 of 10 people still have a job. 95% of the country have Health Care. 70%+ like their health care. where's the emergancy? There is now. Its just so-called Americans like you feel entitled to so-called free Health Care.

All that aside. How do you propose to pay for this Health Plan Obama wants? If we have to pay higher taxes, then it aint free.

  • Don't refer to me as a so-called American. EVER. Everyone knows you are nothing but a right-wing lunatic fringe mouthpiece. Instead of lying, you must accept that your fascist ilk is a very tiny minority and now the real Amaericans are back in control.

  • A corporate bureaucrat dispensing heath care payments...when the monetary interest of private insurance is to limit payments...is worse than a government bureaucrat doing the same thing. Private medical insurers, in their own words, term medical pay outs as "medical losses". Add to this, that US medical costs have doubled in the last nine years; that 50 million have no coverage; that 25% have inadequate coverage; and that the USA has among the worse longevity results for advanced nations.

  • Sorry to hurt your feeling but you obviously haven't read all the pages of the health insurance, because your son is not going to be on that health insurance.

  • I truly believe the health care insurance companies have actually caused a disservice to the United States of America. The lobbying campaign they have is amazing... ask any Canadian if they would change their Universal Coverage for what we have here in the United States... and you will get a HELL NO!... We have a shitty feedback loop fed by greed and unethical behavior between hospitals and health care insurance companies has driven costs up in an exponential manner.

  • UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE!!!

  • GOD BLESS CANADA

I HAVE NEVER PAID FOR TREATMENT.

health care in Canada is run by the government , you just simply show your government health card, get checked, and the government receives the BILL.

this concept of, whenever you lose your job you lose your health care plan is STRANGE.

  • You are LUCKY!!

I'm a college student and I stopped seeing my cardiologist because I can't afford health insurance and I can't afford the office visits. It's $100 for every visit and I'm not even going to mention how expensive the tests are that he wants to have done. The majority of people in America want health care reform but the republicans in government and FOX news channel won't let that happen without a fight. They constantly make outlandish and absurd lies about Health care reform.

  • chrispollock

what you have to say about this issue, i think just about hits the nail on its head...good to read positive comments like yours, as opposed to the fearmongering and scare tactics of the obstructionists.

  • Comment removed

  • no one should e put into a life of debt for getting sick. Health is communal, we get sick often from each other. We owe each other the best that we can do for one another. We are one family and need to take care of each other.

  • My poor special ed. Child!!!! Wine, Wine, WineCan someone please tell me where in the Constitution of the United States it says health care should be free to all citizens? If she thinks Nathans insurance is expensive now, just wait until Obama gets his dirty hands into the health care system. My advice to this broad is to sell her house or let it go into foreclosure. Move into a smaller house or go live with family. This way she can save money for her sons insurance. NEXT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • obama might acctually do something sensible, like decrease our bloated defense budget and provide the universal health care that any moral nation is obligated to provide its citizens in this day in age where people live longer and thus need more help in the healthcare sector. plus its the right thing to do anyway, yknow, not letting people die in the streets because they can't afford treatment or deny them medication because it interferes with the greedy bottom line of the profit based industry

  • Cmon Obama kick some ass lol

  • They are not showing the solutions because they don't want to show you. The government solution will force you to give up some of your freedom to achieve "equality".

Someone has said that the society that puts equality before freedom will end up with neither. The society that puts freedom before equality will end up with a great measure of both

You see no matter how bad the plan is, I am sure congress and the super rich will be able to keep the plan they have.

  • equality means getting fucking treated when i have sickness and can't pay the bills for it? fine with me! the republicans pretend this is bad, but if they just took a little money from the bloated defense budget, we'd have enough and more to cover everyone and be a fucking civilized society instead of one that allows its people to die in the street if they don't large amounts of money to keep their treatments. go OBAMA!!

  • Government is half as efficient as the private the sector at best. Look up East Germany. If you want to see people die in the street try Cuba's health care system. Its time to grow up and take care of ourselves again. government CANT DO IT! And they wont give a damn what happens to you. They have already created a health board to decide what treatments will be allowed.

  • this isn't about efficiency, this is about doing the right thing. you don't let people die because they don't have money for treatement, that is the mark of a society gone wrong. you also don't understand that the most responsible, middle class people can be ruined by just one disease that resists treatment long enough to bankrupt them and their loved ones. you believe in the myth that private health care gives a damn more than govt. when that is not the case.

  • You cant legally turn people away who need treatment TODAY. Its a law on the books now.

No better method than the free market has been found that will give the largest benefit to the most people. Its the reason we have life saving drugs. The power you want to give government to do "good" is also power for them to do harm.

  • yes you can't turn them away. but the hospital bills them into oblivion and they become financially ruined and bankrupt as a result. and all for what. because of your sacred yet non existent free market. if we had a free market, big business wouldn't survive the way it has, with govt. bailouts, bailouts from the same govt. you fear. bottom line, you deny free medical care to people, you are doing harm in many ways. you hurt people, families and small business bottom lines. face it.

  • Exactly. We need a free market. No company should ever be bailed out. Why should I pay for their failures? There is no such thing as "free" care. Someone still has to pay. Under a government system it will be much more due to the inefficiency. Its really about the government getting more power over the middle class.

Remember that the power to do good is also the power to do harm.

  • dude, the free market doesn't exist in the usa or anywhere else far as i know. the least we can do is give healthcare coverage to people so they don't get sick, and complications that end being more expensive for small businesses and people alike. then, apart from the profit benefits of universal care, its the humane, right thing to do! everyone can have their private ventures, but everyone can still know, both business owner and worker, that even if they have bad luck, they'll be ok

  • Its not humane to kill one person so someone else can be treated.

  • If its proven then why does the US have the highest cancer survival rate? Just compare it to the UK survival rate. The only thing the federal government does well is, nothing really. There is no blockade in Cuba. The US is one of the only countries that doesn't do business there. Also East Germany is gone. That should be a hint. This socialized method of distribution DOES NOT WORK.

  • then why are canada and scandanavia doing quite well? nearly the rest of the civilized world treats their citizens with the decency they deserve. perhaps the usa should join?

  • Even with a smaller population, Canada is not doing quite well as you say. watch?v=_vNQFa_4S80 If Canada jumps off a bridge should we? The government is not your Mom. If you want it to be, then this isn't the place for you.

  • Colon Cancer is the worst. JAPAN was 1st with their GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH SYSTEM. here is the breakdown (Japan 17%-93% US 8%-93%).

Also, they live longer, are healthier overall and don't file bankruptcies anywhere near as often as we do (reduced stress).

Overall, a Government system save $ and lives, unless you want to pay 3x's. Also, the study did not breakdown the patients by $ spent in any country, but like everything else here $ talks.

  • Japan has been in a recession for over 15 years and is in massive debt. The MHW is even more insane than our FDA and products get delayed by years. The US government already has too much control over health care which drives prices up.

  • what does recession have to do with cancer rates? their health system did not cause the recession. We are also in massive debt. FDA should maintain safety of products & drugs. prices were low in health care before Nixon decided to get with the insurance companies and introduce HMO-PPO's. this drove up cost. It also limited access. The insurance industry has virtually all the control of our system. They stand between the doc and patient at all times. and make decisions based on $.

  • the quote is "security before freedom, will end up with neither." is the jest of it --nothing to do with equality.

our health system ranks 35th. Behind all industrialized nations w/ government run health systems. they outlive us by 3-5 years. we pay far more and get less. This does not include the uninsured. 60% of bankruptcies occur because of health care.

  • No actually. Friedman said a society that puts equality before freedom will end up with neither. I submit any communist country as an example.

The WHO ranking favors socialized systems. That is why the higher ranked UK where less than half who get cancer survive, is ahead of the US that has a survival rate of about 66%

Rankings are bogus because they reflect the criteria of the author.

  • oh! thank for the quote. actually you should put our country in that because equality is 1st in our constitution.

who says the WHO ranking favor socialized systems? you? again your looking at 1 aspect. Prevention, diabetes, outcomes etc also s/b factored in. Not just cancer because the US got a good grade. I am looking at the whole picture, esp the fact the focus is on prevention and life expectancy. Our system focuses on market Greed.

  • The US Constitution is all about equality of opportunity under the law, not equal outcomes.

Since the WHO rankings were done by a socialist who used economic "fairness" to judge, I think its a valid conclusion that it favors more socialist countries.

And every system runs on greed. People look out for their own interests. A free market system is the best way to protect the people from greed. History has shown political greed to be much bloodier.

  • Constitution is a system of governing.

WHO rankings are valid. They have been out and reviewed by multiple organizations. Just because you don't like the conclusion, don't try to replace fact with your opinion.

actually the free market system has failed on multiple occasions. Government has had to come in to save the capitalist system or the US citizens on many occasions. government regulations on business normally are put in place because of abuses caused by the greed of the market.

  • A weighted ranking is based on what the author believes is important. Its not fact, it is opinion. I can base my health care rankings on vending machine availability in the waiting room, that doesn't mean anything. Maybe Zimbabwe is first in my ranking. The free market has not failed, Government mishandling fails the free market.

  • you undermine your own argument. in your argument everything is opinion with no facts, so nothing is better. government or market its all opinion anyway according to you right? so, we shall keep our own opinions. have a nice life.

  • I don't think so. a ranking based on someone's criteria is essentially opinion. Facts are facts. Like water is wet or the life expectancy of US males = X. I didn't understand the rest of the question sorry.

  • opinion is opinion. since, all facts will be manipulated by opinion. your opinion is market greed has no failings and government will forever fail the market & people. you grab a couple facts and use them as support. I do the same in for my opinions. therefore, there are facts, but never any truth (fact). neither of us has truth. but we have manipulated facts, so both of us are wrong or right depending on our own opinions. so, everything is opinion.

  • My opinion is that capitalism limits the amount of harm one's greed can do. One man or corporation has a limited effect on the rest of society. A government has an effect on all of society. So the political greed of a government can affect the entire world. An insurance company will only affect a group of people. The federal government will affect the entire country.

Facts are facts. You can use facts to support your opinion. That doesn't mean everything is opinion. A = A

  • capitalism effects all society also, and government's purpose is to effect all society. constitution gives federal government priority over defense and welfare of the people. through laws we limit capitalism's harm, when the market refuses to (clean environment, mkt regulation, FDA, court systems, meat inspection, etc.., are examples of needed control.

we all use facts to support and cement our opinions. except in extreme circumstance, people present their version of facts A = A.

  • What about the harms of the "needed control"? What about the 12,000 people who die every year because the FDA won't approve needed drugs? What about the hundreds of farms in California turned to dust because of small fish?

"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government. "

    -Thomas Jefferson

  • R.I.P. to Neda...

  • This video is useless and boring, just like the first time you uploaded it...

Do not show us the PROBLEMS of the actual health care system, we know it is broke...We want to hear about the SOLUTIONS to the problem...

  • Bielocke - This video is meant to influence public opinion toward the need for an improved healthcare policy. They believe they have the solutions, they now require the public support necessary to implement it. Remember, this is a democracy, we are the ones who and should decide.

  • I see...But shouldn't they explain the way they want to change the system instead of telling us the problems it causes...I mean, we do know it is not working, right?

  • Agree, Why can't these people govern based on reason and logic instead of faith and emotion.

  • I find it amusing that we have an obsession with health care in the US and are so negligent in our provision of it. We are the only country in the world that doesn't mandate and provide child inoculations; only 5% of the population have access to the highest quality of health care; most HMO's don't allow you to choose your professional. We pump billions every year into Israel and they have a very strict national health care infrastructure - which everyone (Jewish people) have to belong.

  • Do you really think American are so obsessive with health care? I am impress that the richest country in the world don't give to their own citizens something that is natural in other countries. Health Care is something every government should se it as it own responsibility as well as education. This 2 are an investment to the whole nation.

  • that's how u explane why is the American infant mortality so high , specially cause its higher than others nations in the region that are very poor . So USA claim the overwhelming power that they had in the 90, but wait a minute , look inside your country and tell me how bad is your system working, that's the deal , USA have the right to call anyone terrorist or dictator, or communist but no one have the right to say "FIX UR OWN COUNTRY FIRST!". Capitalism is sick in the USA.

  • what do you mean by richest country in the world? because you can't mean the USA. they are like 7th place or something...

  • chaomonga's right,

USA is not the richest. It USED to be, but instead is now the most involved in foreign affairs and the most militarily invested.

  • I will have to respectfully disagree. Other countries that provide health care do as good of a job as they do with education: crap. Since our education system in America is so messed up, why do you think the government would do any better with health care? People are obsessed about health care here because we want to keep our system that works better than most other places, and could work even better if we removed some regulations on insurance and prescription drugs.

  • Health Care Now! ! !

I was sick 6 years ago. I couldn't stop burping for about a year. I went from 165lbs. to 128 lbs. Not to good for a 26year old male.

After I began blacking out, I went to the ER and financed my $6,000 bill. I served a lot of coney dogs for that one. People get sick, I accept this. But what burned me most was when I tried to find follow up care and Gastro doctors refused to treat me without insurance. They need their licences pulled.

  • PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA 2012 !

  • public insurance will just mean other people will subsidize it thru their taxes. that's how they'll lower the costs to make it 'affordable'. people with private insurance will ultimately subsidize those with the public plan. so why don't the Dems start a private insurance company that would aim to help the people they want to help so much? because it won't work. even all those celebs who I'm sure would chip in with their millions, that still wouldn't keep them out of the deep red.

  • 1) I would like to recomend "Frontline: sick around the world" It's a documentary that goes over other country's health systems that are working. We should learn from other countries.

    2) we are already paying for healthcare for the poor (medicaid, and people who never pay their medical bills), it is the working middle class that we are leaving out.

  • regarding #2, do you think forcing everyone to pay for the poor, for non-citizens, etc is a good thing? I refuse to classify anyone as the middle class. we have no class system in America. I can accept that you refer to a range of income, but how many kids do they have? or cars? do they go on vacation? maybe if these people weren't having to pay for the medical services of the 'poor' they'd be able to afford their own insurance. a public plan will just mean they're taxed to subsidize themselves.

  • Sounds to me like losing your job is the problem. Remember that candidate for president who wanted to remove the employer tax credit/whatever for health insurance and instead give it to the individual? you know, so the market might move to individuals buying their own plans rather than relying on employment ...

  • i thought we lived in a free country. . .not one where our taxes are sifted through the government, with fractions of it returned to the citizens. Everyone is always talking about how we need the government to take care of us and not how we should be taking care of ourselves. No one considers how the government takes large portions of people's money through sales tax, income tax, property tax, DEATH tax etc. Come on people. . .

  • The vast majority of the people would be unable to afford medical care if they suffer from a severe illness. This is why it is so essential that everyone has medical insurance even though its benefits are uncertain.

It would be unethical to see people die because they skipped their insurance so we must make it mandatory at a affordable price.

The vast majority? Where's that statistic from? And when did the good for the majority outway the good for the each individual man, woman, and child? Last time I checked we live in a republic, not a democracy.

  • Holdem, i took it for granted that people having less than a million dollars (cost of a severe illness/accident) qualify as the vast majority.

The good for the majority indeed outways the good of the indivual. Just think of taxes, infrastructure or security.

  • Come on people!? You come on.

It's our government. And our taxes pay for our roads, our utility access, police, fire and ambulance service. Our military and many of the technologies and medicines that we depend on today were developed through our funding or our government.

  • Roads: necessary

    Utility access: questionable

    Police: necessary

    Fire and Ambulance service: necessary

    Military: Should be vastly reduced

    Health Care: NO

Our government was simply designed to protect people's freedoms. Not baby them.

  • Well said Holdempro09...

You are one of the few smart ones left!!!

  • In a country as great as ours, no one should have to go without health care. That is wrong.

  • i haz no health care :(.

  • I hope Obama doesn't screw with my health care. I don't want the feds making any of my medical decisions. I hope Cathy gets coverage soon. Cobra sucks but it is optional. You aren't forced into the program like we are all forced into social security and will be forced into obamacare.

  • Uh, some people with preexisting conditions can't get coverage.

Besides, it is insurance companies make the medical decisions now.

  • Why would a company want to take on the liablility of someone with a pre-existing condition?

The proponents of a system that would force companies to cover those with pre-existing conditions .... why haven't any of them started a health insurance company that accepts them?

  • That's right - we don't want to decide how our care is managed ourselves. As it is now you're just limited to care and payment based on what is profitable to CEOs and shareholders that are making so much money in one year that not only do they not need your business but they know that you don't have a better alternative because every other insurance company is doing the same thing.

  • I posted a few comments with the Libertarian approach to health care, and they deleate the video then re-post it (without the past comments)? I guess they arn't open to people knowing other options of reform, huh?

  • They already posted this. WTH?

  • Come on, pull yourself up by your bootstraps...

Work hard and never ever get sick....

She must not have a health savings account...

Who can't swing 1400 a month for insurance?

Isn't that what they say to us? I was in that boat for a couple of years, it ain't fun.

We do need a responsible solution to the healthcare issue...

But, what does that mean though?

  • where are your savings? a new acura? Jag? what's gonna happen with who?

  • What the United States needs, deserves and wants is a single payer system with everyone in and no one left out.

  • You racist pig.

  • hehe my name is cathy and waasnt this loaded up like 5 days ago?

  • GOBAMA !!

  • Nice vid
