Like many other folks I couldn't find the "loop" behind the tie either. However, I discovered if i made the first half of the bow in the opposite direction... poof, there was a loop behind the tie. I thought it was a fluke so did the whole thing again trying the first half of the loop in both directions and it really does make a difference. Not sure why at all but it did. This excellent narration and demonstration are the best I have seen. Though I would prefer the demo be done with a lighter colored tie for easy viewing of the intricate action when stuffing the near-end through the loop, this model/narrator team are excellent. Elsewhere in YouTubethere is a superb demo of a formal white tie being tied in the mirror for easy repeating by us tying our own. Thanks for being so very instructive!

@aliG313 If you can tie a bow tie knot (normal way to tie your shoes) in your shoe strings, this isn't any different than doing that except keeping the wide part of the tie straight, and that shouldn't be hard to do at all. Just keep it straight up and down. You might have to adjust the knot a little when you get it tied, but you should be able to get it. Like I said, don't think about tying a tie, think about tying your shoe strings. More/less anyway.
