  • what website is that?! How do you go there? I just started youtube, PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!

  • When i post the video and check if its working on my iphone, It says that the video does not support the Iphone, and it doesnt let me watch it.

  • Thanks very much!!

    You're a life saver!

  • How do you split up an hour long movie into 10 min parts to upload to YouTube?

  • How can you change it so one can upload more than 10 minutes for ones youtube movies with imovie now that we can do up to 15 min videos?

  • dfg

  • I've got an eight minute movie that looks great in imovie, but in quicktime, the video freezes two and half minutes in while the audio continues to the end. I've tried removing the clip, but the video freezes about four minutes in and the audio continues to the end. What can I do?

  • can you not just save it to desktop and then upload as usual!?!?!?!?!

  • You have to export it as a Quicktime movie to your desktop after your project is complete. Use either .mp4 or.mov. Things have changed a bit since I made this clip. You can't load your iMovie project directly to youtube, it is too large. Is this what you were asking?

  • Thankyou so much this was so helpful!

  • mine didnt work

  • dude my video got its audio removed by copy right

im using a macosx lepard and i used i movie to put the audio on but my audio got removed because of the copy right

please help me so i can put a video with music without getting it removed by copy right

  • Can't help you with that

If you use a mix of some sort it might not get caught but if it is the original song, it probably won't last. It really depends on the artist/label. Some don't seem to care and others are all over it immediately'

  • wtf my video only shows the first 14 seconds and not the rest of the two full minutes!! Why is this? I followed ur steps! What the heck did I do wrong?

  • What does it do after the 14 seconds? Have you watched the video on your computer before you upload it to make sure you are not uploading a faulty video?

  • Let me try first, i'll thanks if it works...

  • thankks soo much!

  • Thank u!

  • I did it but towards the end of my video the sound starts to get off track. Listen to the sounds towards the end of my last vid. Can you or anyone help me?

  • Thanks so much!

  • It didnt work. Damn. Why doesn't my comp have 'ACC' on the settings? I think this is what is making it not work. :( Why is this happening? ACC WHERE ARE YOU. Lol Please help x

  • I am glad that I took time watching this. Lets just cross my fingers hoping that once it is compressed, my video should be proudly sitting on my video page. Thankyou very much for your time. :)

  • Thanks!

  • Thank you soooo much for this info!!!! I couldn't figure out why my movie sound quality and video settings were so messed up! This fixed my problem!!!!!

  • thanks so much for this! It's so helpful!

  • thanks for the help!

  • Thank you so much, really.

  • how do u post it from windows movie maker

  • Click on "Save to computer" on

the left side of the program. Once you click on it, you can save it in

whatever format you want (it's usually .wmv but it has pretty bad

quality, other formats might work such as .mov, DivX, XviD). Fill the

remaining steps and let it make the video. Once the video is done and

saved into your computer, go to the uploader and find the file then

click "Upload" and let it upload and process.

  • Thanks alot. Your a youtube hero.

  • great tutorial

however, what about if your video is widescreen dv??

  • THANKS!!!! :D

  • This has to be the most useful vid well done 5*!

  • YouTube videos can now be 1 GB (actually 1024 MB) but still must be under 10 minutes long.

  • thanks so much! this helped a lot. I was ready to buy Stomp, a compression software, but you saved me money!

  • Why is H.264 ghosted? And why is Fit Within Size ghosted as well on iMovie '06? Those are the only two I can't rig on the settings. Does anyone know why this is?

  • Im not sure about that. It has not happened to me before.

  • Yay! Now I can post a video! Thank you so much!

  • thank you so much please sub

  • thank you so much please subscribe

  • thank you so much! This is so helpful! If you have iLife you just hit share and youtube then type in the stuff. So I've got to get that! Until then I'll refer to this every time I post!

  • thank you muchas grascias

  • thanks! this was super helpful!

  • how do you download this?

  • when i press size in my options menu, it has an option for deinterlace source video. should i check the box or no? thanks!

  • Not sure what that is, but I do not recall ever having checked it so I would just leave it as whatever the default setting is.

  • ya deinterlace it helps the quality a lot.

  • thank you sir!

  • Thank you very much for the info. I have not yet downloaded a video but i had trouble with the format is there mp3 on one of the settings in imovie? I need to upload in audio codec: mp3.@128 bk/s bitrate are those settings possable in imovie thanks again for your video.

  • It shouldn't be a problem if you are trying to import it into your movie. If you are trying to export it for youtube, I always stick to the settings I mentioned. They haven't failed me yet.

  • DCskate instead of file u can click on share and it will say share at the bottom, that will work

  • hey i have the same imovie as you i think but mine doesnt have the share option under file. Do you know why that is?

  • I am not sure why you wouldn't have a share option. Different versions have it in a different place, but it is always there. Let me know

  • this video is the best! it makes my videos more active and live. thank you 5 stars!

  • Make sure the file is not over 100 MB if you have a regular account. It will not give you an error message if it is over, it will just load forever. If it is under 100 MB, try a different machine to upload the file from a pen drive. It can even be a PC. Let me know how it goes,

  • i have imovie 06 i used to have the good imovie on my g4

The version is iMovie HD 6.0.3

    The options are very limited

  • wahhh! you got the good version of imovie i got the shitty watered down version. good guide tho

  • thank you very helpful!

  • your a life saver man thanks 5 stars~!

  • Thanks, this helped alot :)

  • thank you soo much this helps a million!

  • I found your tutorial very good, simple , easy to follow, and especially no blabla ! I strongly recommend it for everybody who are not picky on the quality of the videos. Thanks !

  • Gotta question.

Can you use a regular digital camera to post videos on YouTube if it has a video camera?

I've always wanted to post a video but do not know what kinda camera to use, where to get it, what kinda supplies to get, etc.

    It seems really hard.

    Is it?

  • If you have never edited an iMovie before, I would start by just bring in still pictures and basically just make a slide show. You can still put music, transitions, title, etc. and then upload that for practice. If you take short videos with your camera you can use those too but the quality is usually a bit lower but you could get started with what you have. As for being hard, the iMovie program can seem daunting at first but it is very user friendly. Just youtube for some tutorials,

  • There are also tutorials on the Apple website.

  • Thanks so mush for posting this!!! I was having a lot of trouble with uploading until i saw this

  • Thank U very much sir!!!

  • Thank you!

My slide show should be up shortly! :)

(it's of the pictures I drew)

  • thanks man, it helped A LOT!!!

  • Ditto! Nice job dude

  • Thanks, I didn't know that. I founf this from the help center

We recommend the following settings: * MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format * 640x480 resolution (* most updated recommendation) * MP3 audio * 30 frames per second

  • However, if you increase the size you must have a shorter video or lower the quality to stay under 100MB

  • When I export my I-movie, the short cuts jump and ruin the flow. Any ideas how to overcome this?

  • Not sure what you mean by short cuts?

  • thanks, but I've worked it out.

I meant short edits, as in one second

  • Thank-you, should have looked here first.

  • omg thank you SOOOOO much!

  • love you thank you!@!@!@!@!@

  • ok nvm

  • hey im havin some problms now when i go to share when im at the quicktime thing it just skips the improtant part

  • Dude your awesome i just learned

  • OMG thank you so much for makin this i finally did it thankyou soooo much

  • SOOOO helpful! Thanks!

  • can you have imovie on dell

  • nope, exclusive for MAC

  • how do u download imovie or can u

  • iMovie is for Mac based machines and is included with the bundled software when the computer is purchased. If you have a Mac without iMovie, it is probably too old to purchase iMovie and put it on there.

  • I have been use i-movie to editting video.... Good Software and stable !!

  • I sware if this solves my problems uploading on a mac you guys are heros!

  • gracias mexico lo dice

  • how come you dont have a cam on your laptop?

  • he is only using prolly an iBook cause he is also using like iMovie 4 or sumthing and the iBooks dont have cameras they are pretty old.

  • Thanks, that really helped

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I knew it should have been possible to upload videos to YouTube from iMovie, I just didn't know how. THANK YOU!

  • imovie should be updated so it will save an imovie of under or exactly 10 minutes into a perfect YouTube format. There is no downloadable software for this and the decrease in quality from the imovie format in YouTube is shocking. I mean if the project is 120MB you just want it to go down to 99MB not 9MB which is the usual result of compression.

  • woo thnk god its all over for me if ya get wat i mean cozz thats taken me like weeks to figure that out then i remembered utube! thanks!!!!! =)!!!

  • yeah, ive already tried that, and of course it didnt work. i have two videos up. One i actually uploaded from this apple computer, it took like a day. The other one i uploaded from my Digital camera to my PC and it uploaded fast and easyy. seriously this video is less of a size then the last one and it has been running for a week and a day.

  • THANK YOU! this helps so much you have no idea!

  • Are you sure it is less than 100 MB? Remember to check, hit file then get info while your file is highlighted. If it is a .mov (which it should be) transfer it to a pen drive and try a different computer, even a PC will work because the .mov file will be read and uploaded just fine. If it uploads on a differrent computer, then the issue is with your current computer. It should not be this difficult

  • i have an apple computer...i need help please.

  • What Mac system do you have? It should only take less than a minute with a movie like that.

  • my hero

  • k well i already have it on quicktime and its perfect, it has the effects and the size and everything i have a vieeo posting that i started 3:00 on monday.. it is now 3:40 on wednesday.. one of my videos took a day but idk what is happening with this one, its only 4 minutes, and no music, yet it still may never upload, i really need help.

  • yes please help me please... i did all your steps (about 8 times by now) and after if hit upload it says uploading...it keeps uploading and uploading yesterday it had been uploading 4 hours for a 3 minute video... i need help please please please help me.

  • Are you sure the file is under 100 MB? Once I tried to upload a 105 MB file and it did exactly what you are describing without an error message. Give me some more details

  • ok thank you i'll do that.

  • Also make sure your video is under 100MB, if it is and you have just a basic youtube account, it will not post but there is no error message to let you know. To check the file size, click on the .mov file you want to upload once and then go to the file menu and select "get info". Let me know how it goes

  • I have a problem...when I go to upload my video safaria won't open the page. Can you help me?

  • First of all, Download the Mozilla Firefox browser from Mozilladotcom (written this way because you can't post URL addresses), a far superior browser in many respect when compared to Safari. You may need to update your flash player, which is free as well.

  • Firefox also has a nice feature that you can add called Video Downloader which allows you to save youtube videos permanently on your computer. You also need iSquint software to convert the downloaded file but both are free. Send me a note if you want more detailed directions. I am assuming you are on a MAC with OSX.

  • Oh, one more question. The camcorder I usually use records in widescreen, do you know how to import video from the camcorder so that the image does not stretch into full screen. I don't know how to import widescreen as widescreen or how to convert the stretched out imported version of the widescreen video into widescreen. Hopefully that made sense. Any ideas? Thanks

  • Hi, I uploaded my first video onto youtube yesterday and found that the quality was terrible. After watching this, I removed my video and uploaded it again using your tips. Though the quality is perfect on my pc, after uploading it onto youtube, once again it looks horrible, highly pixellated. Any idea as to how I can fix this?? My video is called cycling through hinduism. Please help

  • I watched your video and thought it was about average or better for quality compared to most youtube videos. You said you were using a PC but I only know Macs but either way you can try increasing the quality at the export stage but to tell you the truth it looks fine for youtube and increased quality takes up more MBs and you only can upload 100MB with a regular account.

  • Thanks, and sorry I actually meant mac not pc. I even exported the video at full quality, which was about 60 MB and then uploaded it to youtube, but there was almost no noticeable change in quality. I guess you're right about the quality being alright for youtube, but it's just frustrating not being able to upload at a better quality when there are so many videos with much higher resolution on youtube than the one I put up. Thanks anyways.

  • thanks! um also i have question: How do you import clips from what you downloaded on safari [internet] to the shelf on the clips tab?

  • Now when you are in iMovie, click on the photos tab and find your image. Make sure you set the time for the image to appear and any other modifications before you drag it into your timeline.

Note: You can bypass iPhoto altogether and import the image directly from wherever you saved it. I prefer the iPhoto method however because I like all my images in the iPhoto program.

  • thanks but i meant how do u import the videos not pictures

  • Ok but I am assuming you already know how to download a video from a YouTube or Metacafe etc. If not, let me know and I will explain, but it is a multi-step process. Once you have a video saved on your computer, it needs to be a .mov file which it will be if it is quicktime file. Under the file menu click import and you can bring it in. It may take a while.

  • thanks!

  • thanks

  • Thanks - Nice job!

  • thanks alot man
