Those sound perfect. Loud pipes suck. They're so fucking annoying. They sound great....for 5 minutes. Then they drive you nuts and annoy the rest of the world with the obnoxious decibels. Don't listen to the idiots who say you need louder pipes.

I installed the street legal SE slip-ons recently on my 2010 Iron. Much better than the stock HD mufflers. I'm not getting the same sound as a set of Rineharts, but at least I won't have the local authorities busting my chops.

Also, they do sound much better off-camera(like most other muffs). My camera mic didn't pick-up the lower deeper tone of the muffs.

The dealership sells paint pens of various colors to do the same to your tires. They have orange seen here, white and Goodyear Nascar yellow.

I used to have a buell S1W (wish i didn't sell it now), and that had a screamin eagle short shot on it. any of the short shot screamin eagle kits will make your presence known, but if you ride long distance you might wanna get the slightly longer ones so they're not right in your ear for 13 hours straight (not nice on a v-twin. numb hands and deaf for 2 days afterwards)

Just doing slip-ons doesn't require a remap. If you get the stage 1 air cleaner kit, then get a dynojet power commander. They have a map for the HD slip-ons and stage 1 kit. Could still be fine tuned after that.

No one had them at the time. There weren't many Nightster's rolling around when I got mine. Hell, HD didn't have any black accessories whatsoever when it was released.

They stand for the options on the bike from the factory. If you go to Wikipedia they have what they individually stand for on the HD page.

Not bad, but I've never liked the Nightsters. They just look cheap with the black painted items. I put a set of Samsons on my 08 1200C and they are bad ass. Loud pipes save lives! To hell with the bastards in Denver...if you know, you know. If not, google Denver noise limits.

HD sells three different color paint pens for this purpose. I went with orange for obvious reasons. Cost was about $15 for two pens and about three hours of work; it's incredibly tedious.

drag pipes usually are bad for street use, better use a slip on replacement, or leave the SE SP

drag style pipes are fine but you loose low end by them selves use torque cones or baffles with them.....

Yes, the slip ons and stage 1 air cleaner kit add HP and torque. You can view the specs on the HD website. There was a distinct difference in throttle response when I put the pipes, air cleaner and power commander on.

Several reasons. Main reason is the SE's are 50 state street legal so no tickets, next is my neighbors always complained about my last Sporty being too loud (straight shots on it) and tried to get the condo association on my ass. Cost is another reason and also there was a map available from Dynojet that matched my setup exactly so I really had a bolt on deal with no trip to the dyno for tuning. Last but not least, the performance gains on the SE's is really unbeatable for the money.

Keep an eye out on eBay. I got the entire exhaust (heat shields and all) for $175 shipped, I was expecting just the slip ons. So I have a full stock exhaust sitting in the garage. I can easily turn around and sell it for what I have invested.

Awesome Sporty, Man! I love the new nightster. The only thing I'd change besides the stock exhaust, would be to install the black mini ape-hangers that are available. I think they're either 9" or 12", and they look wicked on this bike.

I have had two harleys that leaked. The only reason they leaked was because the jackass that had them before me put too much oil in the primary. When I drained it and put the correct amount in... no more leaky.

Love that Nightster. I got an '04 XL1200R. Don't see too many around. Nightster's the only XL that has the classic tank (WTF!?) anymore. My Roadster has mid-controls, highway pegs, SE pipes/filter. Pity the posers who tell me, "Girl's bike...when you gonna trade up?...you need forward controls, more chrome...blah, blah." XL's are fun, fast, nimble, versatile. Buy an XL and you're putting your money into the BIKE, not your ego! Ride on...

That is fucking SWEET. I want a 1200r bad, those things are fuckin sweet. Odd hearing that fuel pump when you turn it on though! haha Harley's really upgrading their bikes. I still like my old carburated '00 though. If the battery dies, I can still give it a push start. One thing you can't do with these new bikes unfortunately.

Great video, They aren't real loud but they do have a nice sound. I have a set of these I picked up used just in case the Rines were too loud. I'll have to put them on and post a video.

Thanks, I made a few noticeable changes. I lettered the tires orange, painted the air cleaner Harley Vivid Black and wrapped the headers in black exhaust wrap (sealed in black) and painted the heat shields with 1500 degree black silicone paint..really changed the looks.

I will say I am very pleased with the SE slips. Considering how loud my old bike was, there was an adjustment but they really do sound good, just not loud as hell.

I had a '03 883 with drag pipes and after getting to work it took me 20-30 mins to get my hearing back to normal...haha. I wanted good sound without the bleeding ears and these are a nice mix. When you roll on the throttle these definitely sound nice.

I am going to make a new video and get some better sound clips of these pipes. All around though, I like them...like the perfomance gains more than anything.
