Lest we forget..what we're listening to here was an acoustic recording on shellac, not vinyl. Even if they've been cleaned up the sound quality is amazing. We are talking about 85 years ago for some of this stuff. Unbelievable!
I guess I'm especialy partial to th Andrews Sisters; but it's impossible to read anything about them that doesnt mention th Boswell Sisters, whom I'd nevr heard till I found these vids on YT. What a delight! I am totally charmed!
It's a shame we'll never know how they would have sounded on modern-day recordings.
According to the info I read at the major Bozzie web site, this song made it to number 3 on the US pop chart in the spring of 1935. It was one of four top ten songs that the sisters had between late 1934 and early 1935, to include "The Object of My Affection," which was their only number one song. Interestingly, only a year later the group disbanded. A victum of their own success?? Sibling rivalries?? Anyone with any ideas?
What is known for certain is that they all married. Vet, the youngest, secretly got married to a man she met on a ship coming back from England, sometime in 1935. Martha was next, marrying one of the founders of Decca Records. And Connie married the group's manager, Harry Leedy. The sisters had been performing together since they were very young, and when they parted, they apparently weren't comfortable that they could regain the synergy that had made them successful.
Good job, thank for posting your records, I think I'll do same. I like Boswell Sisters. I have a Brunswick record of the Mills Brothers where they sing during a minute.
You really are doing a great job. Brunswicks of this period don't usually don't sound this good. Where are the comments for the best vocal group of all time?
I agree, the best singing trio ever. Love it.

Keep reading. Vet and Martha married and Connie kept it going. They were definitely family-oriented...no fuss', feudin', or fightin'!!!!

This video had over 5000 views but I deleted it to re-post this one. It should start getting more comments sooner or later.
