Will Obama lift embargo on Cuba?

Cuba stopped being a nation in 1958 to become a communist SECT-CAMP in '59/60. COMMUNISTS DESTROYED CUBA for their fraudulent and egotistical control. USA has nothing to do with all of the internal restrictions seen in the Stalinist state.

If communism produced misery in Europe and Asia (where one half of Germany and Korea stagnated under slavish repression while the capitalist halves of those countries thrived in economic and political freedom) why would the result be different in the Cuba?

First, before revolution average life expectancy of cubans was less than 60 years, and workers were basically slaves of american corporations and Batistas corrupted government. There was no freedom of speech before revolution either, thats why Castro got into power by revolution instead of politics. Castro has given Cuba amazing healthcare which has risen life expectancy to 78, more than any other Caribbean island state and same that USA has with much of more money

@MilkTrafficker And that healthcare is free to everyone, and Cuba has highest amount of doctors to amount of population when before Castro there was only very few doctors, and they mostly for rich people only. Without Castro corrupted capitalist dictators would have ruined Cuba together with american corporations. If you want to see what Cuba would be without Castro look at Haiti. Thats exactly what happens when US supported corrupted capitalist dictators keep rule.

You cant have democracy if you are neighbor of evil superpower that is willing to use any method to destroy the system and bring capitalism & slavery back to Cuba. Its all fault of americans. In any EMBARGO the people at the TOP never suffer. They always reserve the best food, best clothing, best lifestyle for themselves.

It's the people at the bottom that get deprived of everything.

50 years prove that the Cuban Embargo didn't achieve anything. We are doing business with China ... so why not Cuba.

Because of our trade with China we have an open dialogue line with their government.

Changes may be slow yes ... BUT are moving forward. It's better than no dialogue at all.

Jorge Ponce and those who left in 1959 expect that the US will force Cuba to pay them billions for their confiscated lands. For 50 years Castro has used that and other fear to control the people of Cuba. Take away the threat that you will put Cubans out of their homes for Batista loyalists and Castro's house of cards will crumble. Everybody who cares about Cuba wants a soft landing there except the hard liners in Miami.

The embargo should end NOW! It was as effectless almost from the start. First of all, Cuba 's economy progressed throughout most of embargo years thanks to trade from socialist countries. Secondly, the embargo lost its purpose around the early 1970s when Cuba no longer promoted exportation of revolutions into Latin America to focus more on consolodating its economic programme.

Cuba is amazing, the people are so nice. The western world is so scared of communism just because the western media tells us to be,we see what they want us to see and that's it. you go there and talk to the people and they are all happy with health care and a roof over there heads and food. everyone is equal!!!! open your eyes north America!!!

this embargo is non-sense, it was somewhat justified by the fear of US from the communist, it's a double morale, they say its because they seek democracy for cuba, but US supports several tirannic governments around the world, what is gonna do Fidel, throw sticks to US troops? train suicide dolphins for terrorist attacks?? just a bunch of bullshit, i hope Obama will be more open. The embargo is in place because Castro took all American properties with no compensation. Then brought Soviet nuclear weapons, exported guerrillas around the world, etc. The same people that did this is still in power so the embargo must be kept in place. Cuba has not changed, still support Chavez, Morales, Correa and the rest of the Socialist that hate and want the US to collapse. When Cuba is a Democracy, then the embargo should be lifted, not before to give Castro a prize for work.

Actually Castro and the Cubans offered compensation early--John Foster Dulles said no deal.

I think the embargo is good for nature. Cuba is still a mostly undeveloped island with hardly any pollution, if the USA lifts the embargo Cuba will be a polluted as China is today in just 10 years. We should send all our Scientists down there to study the wildlife before its gone forever

The embargo should definately end , it only hurts the average Cuban. I hope that stupid travel ban to Cuba gets lifited as well, so I can visit there as a tourist.

Why doesn't the US lift it's embargo on Cuba? It doesn't make sense. Maybe the US is still upset over Castro throwing out all of those mob-owned casinos back in '59. I think it's high time to bury the hatchet.
