My roommate has a newfoundland and he is just the CUTEST, sweetest, most gentle dogs I have ever seen. And even though he is so sweet he never forgets he is big either so he can play and kiss the baby and still be so gentle. I lived with bloodhounds before and newfoundlands and SO MUCH BETTER

Newfoundland's do not need training.They got so much love for everybody and everything they are naturals in behaving good.

This is so true its not even close to funny.Just ask anyone who had other dogs before a newfoundland ^^

Newfies are the best dog with children so it stands to reason why the nursemaid in Peter Pan is a Newfie.  Another great dog is the Hovawart. I have one, he is now 12. They are rare in the US . They are almost as big without the drool but if you love your dog..WHO CARES.

I loved this video! I have always loved this breed. After being licked to death when I was only nine at a park & sharing my ice cream cone. The owner said, he would remember me till he passed away. So to my surprise when I returned to the park with my son after 13 years I seen the dog only he was much older and sharing a ice cream cone with my son, there was a dog that came up to me & I thought it was going to attack my son & it started to wine and wag it's tail . I found out it was old terry.

I can't remember the name, but I got it from a free use site, I searched for a perfect one, you can also get them from youtube for free as long as you alllow ads to be placed, which isn't a bad idea at all :)

there are a lot of free places so I would advise you to use free songs or you will need permission from the song writer.

I got my newfoundland when I was 17 years old and I had her for 11 years. She was the most loving loyal dog anyone could ask for. When in my 20s I had 2 kids and she was wonderful with them. It was a sad day when I finally had to say goodbye. RIP Lili <3

Thank you-that's nice of you. It has been around 15 years now, but she is still alive in my memories. :-) She was such a good dog. I have a couple of pet rats now. They are like little mini-dogs. I never knew rats could be so sweet and they are really smart!

@clockmouse I can relate. we had a beagle for 16 years, He would tuck in my daughter(youngest) then tuck in my son, once our son was asleep, he would tuck us in. He did that his whole life. What a nightmare, when he died! RIP ralphy!

@clockmouse It's amazing just what they end up becoming to us.  They're far more than mere pets. They become human parts of the family in many ways. The only reason I haven't gotten a dog yet is the lifespan. I've finally broken down and given in. I'm researching out the ears everything I can about newfies, including proper care and disease identification, so on. I'm in love with them. I really like the Landseer look.

Wow, I came to comment about the beautiful Newfies ya had on here and apparently there's some sort of a venomous argument going on. Who cares what others think about the kind of dogs we love? Does the fact that others dislike Newfounland Dogs diminish our love for them? Not at all. The best thing to do is be adults and treat the senseless self serving individuals like the insignificant annoyances they are by simply ignoring them. Its hard to seperate our selves from those who want a reaction :)

It depends on the dog they have a personality they are not all the same. you can get a dog that is known to be very smart and it can be dumb lazy and drools just depends on the dog its like a human with 4 legs
