I was thinking of getting this Zoom H4N for recording with my T2i Canon. I was wondering if you could just run an XLR/mini adapter into the camera itself to avoid having to sync the audio and video in post?

@msz16 possible but it's gonna make you crazy.. no audio monitoring, no levels adjustments, sub par preamps, syncing is much easier.

Yeah, this video did it for me. I just ordered one. Great video--as soon as I saw the redhead go on the zoom I googled redhead and saw that Philip Bloom recommended it and that was good enough for me. Can't wait to get it.

the h4n can only pick up the sound few inches away?? compare to shotgun mic which can pick up moren than 20 feet away

@michelle1920 the h4n will do very well at 3 feet or less.. Shotgun mics will never be used for picking up dialogue at 20ft.. They'll use the close up's recording if the shot is wide : ) For people yelling maybe...

@scrow9 I would not spend the money on the 7D , i own the T2i and I love it . Now if photo is your main and Film your secondary then do go with the 7D , but if it's the other way .... hands down T2i is your best bet. Manual control over lots of aspects in the movie panel , and the stereo jack input , make it a better candidate ( and price ) for examples feel free to take a look at what i made .

as far as the H4N i'm sold ..

Do you have problems synching the audio to the video track in post? I've read some reviews where the synching was a problem. Btw i love how u make a simple audio/product test vid so beautiful. Nicely done!

The one that comes with it is ok..well, not really. Its alright for close up speech but in conditions like in this video it wouldn't really help..that redhead looks solid as hell :)
