Excellent film; you can just feel the cold. Great music; 1971 was a good year for British films; Get Carter also springs to mind. I have just ordered the film on DVD. Thanks for posting and reminding me of this film.
philip calvert doesnt sound like a secret agent. but he can save the day. he drinks scotch, fools around with exotic women, and slinks about in wet suits. hes the norths james bond! probably would turn his nose up to caviar for a good pie. and beat you at darts instead of bacharrat. and bitches about 007's latest foreign assignement. and his secretary is called mrs duckworth.
Strange. I knew I remember him in this movie, but I didn't realize I remember the music well, too, till I see this clip. In any case, I love his style.
In this film, I wouldn't say Sir Anthony Hopkins is an aspiring James Bond, he's really the Milk Tray Man. In this scene though, the tagline should be "And all because the lady loves gold bullion".

in this movie, Sir Anthony was an aspiring actor then, perhaps a little wooden in his acting when he was young.
but he had matured into one of the best actors in the world.

Agreed I've always loved the score, and the way the camera zooms up at Hopkins shadow, very late 60s.
