When I went to jail one time the majority of the guys there were 1. black and 2. put in jail for selling or using drugs. I don't associate with people using hard drugs and wouldn't buy marijuana from anyone selling any harder drugs. I think they ought they get there statistics correct before officially announcing that marijuana is a gateway drug and their clinical evidence correct before officially stating it's harmful to the health!

Here in Australia they test drivers for cannabis and ecstacy along with alcohol. There are kits to do this. But clearly alcohol is the main scurge of society among those who abuse it. Baldwin was high on pain killers. cuz its ok to eat pills in the usa. the got a pill for everything now in days, head hurt? here take pill, got a cold? here take a pill. you take a pill that only been tested for (lets say) 100 years (give or take 95 years, lol :) ) and its have side effect that your doc dont even no about but yet we eat the pill. ummm i feel ok but now my head hurt o no its my face lol but forreal weed never killed no one and if it did alcohol reaps people every day as well

Why pay billions of dollars in law enforcement for something that is less dangerous than aspirin and has many qualities that are very useful that we've been missing out on since prohibition in 1937. It's been a failed war because the war has been based on myths about marijuana. The war has been a failure since 1937 when will we stop wasting money on a failed war?

The myths about the danger of marijuana, if you believe them, can lead you to using harder more dangerous prescription drugs. It's all a gimmick to keep the profit's for the more dangerous prescription drugs. I think since it has been proven that marijuana is no more dangerous than taking an aspirin it should be sold in the market place next to it competitor, right next to the aspirin..

No wonder the government is fighting a losing drug war over marijuana. It's a very useful drug that can help many people. All the lies government says against marijuana, just goes to show how much they visit or care for the sick to find out how helpful marijuana is to them with less or none side effects than prescription's and much more helpful. I personally think we need to stay above the influence of those who want us to be on the more dangerous prescription's than safer marijuana.

America’s ‘War on Drugs’ is an utter failure, stripping citizens of their Constitutional Rights, illegaly seizing private property, and destroying families. Regardles of your values, you cannot deny the fact that prohibition does not, and has not ever worked.
I’m surprised more Democrats aren’t upset about this waste of resources, and it’s impact on the common citizen, compared to National security expenditures.

We have medical evidence to prove the marijuana is no more harmful than an aspirin and there is no evidence to support that its a gateway drug and that it is actually therapeutic for some who need it, they still chose to be brain washed. Were not trying to convince you to use marijuana, we're just saying it's ridiculous to keep it as a crime against those who chose to smoke. People love spending hundreds of billions of dollars on a failed prohibition. Just keep it Illegal to Smoke pot and drive.

@Blue2011ful I think that "if" marijuana is a gateway drug it is because it is illegal and you have access to the other illegal drugs through the person you buy the marijuana from. It would be like if you could only buy cigarettes illegally from the same person who sells cocaine then cigarettes would in the long run seen as a gateway drug to cocaine.

@jt8025 Ok then in the grocery store the sell cigarettes and alcohol do cigarettes lead to using alcohol? I've used marijuana for 27years since I was 14 years old and I don't use any other drugs... I don't consider A natural plant a drug. Only the drugs made with man made chemicals like pharmaceuticals. Marijuana seems keep me healthy, according to my doctor I am in perfect Health and that's after 27years of marijuana use. I have a dozen sources to get it none of them sell other drugs.

@Blue2011ful It would be a better comparison at a liquor store that also sold cigarettes instead of a grocery store that sold thousands of items. And the comparison would have to look at habits before it became illegal to smoke many places. Bars do tend to be full of smoke where it is allowed. That being said I am in favor of legalizing marijuana I was making an argument against people saying it was a gateway drug. Do you purchase your marijuana from someone that also sells hard drugs?

@jt8025 It is kind of ridiculous any way you look at it to think that marijuana is a gateway drug. None of the people I know who sell marijuana do not sell any other drugs. I don't associate with people using hard drugs and wouldn't buy marijuana from anyone selling any harder drugs. I think they ought they get there statistics correct before officially announcing that marijuana is a gateway drug and their clinical evidence correct before officially stating it's harmful to the health!
