  • He is normal, Aspergers just think different.

  • hey i just watched ur vidoe and i have asperger's to..u seen to act like any normal person...i dont seem to have many problems with mine now but i wud love to talk to u about asperger's and wateva else but yeah i wud like 2 get in contact with u

  • Wow.. I just watched your video and my story is absolutely the same. I am just a college student with Asperger's Syndrome and I enjoyed watching your video. I experience the same emotional, motor skills, and social symptoms of Asperger's. I am very intrigued with your video.

  • Great job on your video - you are very well spoken and obviously skilled. Great insight - thank you for sharing your life experience as an Aspie. You rock!

  • You Act like any normal person ^^

  • its abt what goes inside ur mind...

  • Hey, I have Asperger Syndrome, too. Thanks for posting this.

  • Thank you for sharing your story. My 8 year old son has Asperger's Syndrome and he exhibits a lot of the same symptoms you do. Hearing it from someone who has lived through their school years and found a niche for themeselves, really makes me more hopefull for my own son. I hope he learns how to cope and accept his diagnoses as you did. Thanks.

  • questions: How often do you feel like you are going to die? I think that quite often but never been diagnosed. I have alot of anxiety attacks and take medicine but not sufficient at times. Also, do you receive any benefits from the government for this problem or is it possible? I also for a while am unable to sleep without medication for about a year now. Did that happen to you? Thanx Tony

  • That's "syndrome", Einstein.

  • Hey there i also have Asperger's i was diagnosed when i was six it was noticed due to compusiveness of putting things in patterns. i dont take no medication atool but im slowly learning to adapt to my problems. i know what you mean by when you was saying about the social anxiety i found it hard to talk to new people w/b

  • My bro has Aspergers and I have ADD. (The non-hyper one)

My mum had loads of trouble getting my bro diagnosed. She saw about 100 doctors trying to get a diagnosis.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. My 8 year old son was diagnosed with Asperger's 2 years ago and I often worry about how it will affect him when he is older. You seem like a great guy who is successfully coping with Asperger's. I hope my son does as well as you have. Thanks for sharing!

  • Hey, great that you can speak so over your syndrome like that. I was learning about ASS/PDD and I wanted to hear more about it, so I searched youtube and found you :) you quite named all the symptoms that I've just learned about asperger. Your vid is a good backup for me to learn about ASS/PDD!

    Greets from belgium

  • I know just how you feel man. I dont have aspergers but i have PPD which is another form of autism. And I too only have it slightly. I used to have anxiety problems. Like, i would melt down over the littlest things. and i would drift off in school. and i still do. And in public. Like its kind of embarassing when ure just standing there staring at nothing. So, thanks for posting this. I think it helped alot of ppl understand. :]

  • Thank you for so openly sharing about Aspergers. Please ignore the access to this video by the mean and stupid.I know a ten year old with Aspergers and she displays the same speech frustrations you do. She is very smart and I look forward to seeing what she teaches me next. Her unique view of the world makes her one of the best human beings I have ever met.

  • Thankyou for your explanation of your aspergers syndrome I was wondering how someone would explain what its like to live with AS good luck and good health to you please keep us informed of your progress.

  • the dumbass over there ( the gay in the video) is the most redicilous fool ever added a video on youtube. he think he has asperger. lol, what a shame. he look normal to me. i dont think he has a girlfriend. i think he is too mutch of a gaylord to even speak to a lady. he look stupid. i talked too a friend of mine which also have asperger and iq of 130+ he answered with documentation. and on official pages too like INTERNET u stupid gaylord of an idiot which think he look cool wearing red shirt.

  • hay crap for brains. you do know that aspergers is not a thing where you look funny like down sindrom. i know this because i have aspergers and i look and act just as normaly as...whel not like you because you are a retard but like any other normal person.

  • i have aspergers and i hate. i mean hate when people call it assburgers.

  • i have asbergers i kinda out of it lke hyper and cant think right

  • umm im kind of like you i guess... i just wanted to know have there ever been times where you can be doing something and just like for no reason whatsoever start laughing or crying or something? leave me a comment if you like.. on my yt account... im kind of concerned because i have problems talking to people too.

  • he seems kinda normal to me...

  • Hello there i was wondering if i can ask you a big favoure, iam going a autism awareness photohournalism project and uni and i need people with autism/AS or there familys to viedo themslves talking about AUTISM and AS, about there strenths talents, fears that sort of stuff, i will be playing it along with my images so that people can uinderstand autism and get an idea or what i am trying to achive. do yo think you can help? please e-mail me if you can or and one elese thank you.

  • hi kid, i have also aspergers. i have a photographic memory. i can read a whole chapter and remember anything i read or see a look at some places and redraw it on a big piece of paper. do u have photographic memory? if noy u must have an iq of 130 + because aspergers are often mutch more smarter than average people without any syndroms of autism

  • To wex5: No, people with Asperger's are not just 'smarter' or higher in IQ, there just appears to be a recurring pattern that 'Aspies' are good at problem solving and memory based skills, but often lack in 'common sense' and perceptions of a more abstract nature. Whether 'Aspie' or not, intelligence is genetically and environmentally determined.

Now, for the other people who think they are being polite saying things like "he seems normal" ..is only actually derogatory, don't be so insensitive.

  • By watching your video, I now know what my son will be like in 6 years. He was diagnosed last year and is now in 6th grade.

I'm not sure I have a question, I know I have anxiety. He will be leaving a teacher that understands Asperger's and going to 6 different teachers when he goes to middle school. How did you handle the 'emotional' stress of having more than 1 teacher?

  • Great insight you articulated very well, find your passion and follow it help others go forward thank you

  • I am told that I attempt to put three or four ideas into the same sentence when speaking. This confuses listeners.

However, I make much of my living writing. My written communication is of a professional level.

Write a script. Then read it into the camera. See if this works for you.

  • Thanks for sharing your experiences, I have an 11 year old boy with aspergers and I know exactly what you are going through. Don't let those stupid negative comments get to you. Videos like yours help mothers like me understand our kids with Aspergers better. Is there anything that your folks did with you or for you besides taking you to counseling and to doctors that you feel helped you get to where you are? Congratulations on your placement scores and good luck. Wish you the best:)

  • i pretty sure i have it too i aslo took med such as citalopram and prozak and eveyone say i have anxity...but i never was complte with it...cos it's more deep that just "anxity"...

  • I have Asperger's,too, and I, as many other Aspergers people do, have specialized interests, my interests are in 1960's machinery. Even the Motel I got my username from is built in the 1960's, the sign out front is original

  • Having a psychiatrist has been a nightmare. I did consider paying as much as possible to get one private but as I am out of work due to bullying and stress in the workplace this was not an option. Don't get me wrong I have worked and tried various jobs. If I had the support I could get far. However that has never been the case. I only got diagnosed after a long ongoing battle for recognition in 2004. Since then at least I know what I have. But I have hardly had access to any help.

  • I feel I am mild and brave to come on and make a video. You are lucky because with the right help I think that you can acheive great things. I have been in a number of relationships and due to the Aspergers it has destroyed a lot of my chances of Happiness. Help in the UK is just not here. Pyschiatrists just do not get it around here in the Midlands in the UK. Nobody really understand the condition much. We are pretty behind in the UK. I have seen a Psychiatrist every 6 months :(

  • i understand everything you talking about...good video,i understand about that mind leaving the body ect

  • well done shadow and its admirable that you give as good re some rude comments on your utube video.

    :)

  • Thanks for video - its takes strength to share personal stuff.

  • trying to understand what the meds are for? As there is no real medication treatement for autism/asperges, is it just anxiety medication?

  • Yes, anxiety medication, antidepressants, that sort of thing... all of that is not "part of" Asperger's, just a lot of times comorbid with it

  • you dont have it

  • your an idot - remember that.

  • What makes you say that? Do you feel better by treating people badly? What goes around comes around. I hope you never have a child with Aspergers or any disability to see their suffering.

  • Is a male with Asperger Syndrome only chance to get a girlfriend or date is if the girl makes the first move on him and asks him out? eventhough that is rare, because it is usually vice-versa, guy asks girl out, not girl asks guy out, what do you think? Is it hopeless for a male with Asperger Syndrome to get a girl he likes? does the girl have to like him first instead of the other way around? I turn 21 next year and I am still single, been single my whole life and it is frustrating, I hate it.

  • Lulz holy shit sucks to be you, virgin.

  • you're right, you are a dirtbag! What good have you done for yourself? If you don't have anything intelligent to say to people with Aspergers, please don't post any comments.

  • ha canada what a joke

  • It is possible for a male w/ Aspergers to get a girlfriend if he plays his cards right and is a nice, sweet caring guy.

Unfortunately a lot of lower-functioning autistics and a few aspies seem to get "making a move" confused with sexual harrassment

  • im going to doctors soon though and i guess it will help me understand what i have/

  • i have a similar problem, like i cant communicate with others and put my imagination and thoughts into words. its like i can explain it in my head but not outloud.

  • Good video. Sure it helps a lot of people to hear your experiences.

  • When you went off the medication your body was haveing withdrawal symptoms...I would strongly suggest getting of of the Abilify..Little movements are good and healthy and not abnormal..Sometimes people make a person feel self conscious about theses movements...they are not that abnormal..Also losing your train of thought and forgetting words isn't that abnormal..especially if you are trying to articulate complex thoughts,,Get off the Abilify an Zoloft ..It can cause bad side efeects..Peace

  • Be careful of those medications..they can do more harm than good...A lot of what you talk about isnt as abnormal as some people will act like...It may be just how you behave under stress..and somthing that with time and patience and healthy habits you can grow out of or learn to cope with and subdue with healthy living...Seriously..think about yoga, healthy diet..art, music ...Singing,,talking practice...Jogging hikeing...Movement and coordination improvement exercises..I know thinking can be

  • Ive had lots of hard time copeing with thoughts and images and notions and spontaneous thoughts that come from word assosiations or worries...Practice reading out loud to a metrenome work on soft to loud talking...so you can gain confidence in speech..I recommend staying away for Meds..a lot of those can have irreversible side effects..Check Out John Breeding's Youtube channels and Pychetruth..I know exactly what you mean Ive had all those symptoms..For motor coordination I suggest Yoga Yoga!!!!

  • good job for spreading info and being open dont listen to jerks who say mean things...Check out Mind Freedom International,,im against using medication and urge others to find healthy alternatives...Yoga, excercises...musical studies...chanting singing...emotional release...practicing speaking..reading out loud practicing fluidity in speech..Ive had the same feelings you express and it is hard to talk about with people who dont get it.I think theses feelings are a natural reaction in our time.

  • This guy looks like a fatass prick I went to high school with who threw a big bitch fit and tried to hit me when I told him maybe he should lose weight and stop eating so much pizza.

  • oh your so cool - fuck'n loser

  • I called someone on their bullshit, kinda doubt that makes me a loser. Why are you so offended? Are YOU a clown-faced pizza-gobbling fatass?

  • No, he is not cool. He is brave and a more decent person than you are.

  • Good on you for posting this. I'm an AS sufferer too, was diagnosed with it fourteen years ago and only recently got told it was dissolving. I know EXACTLY what you've meant in everything you've said.

    Kudos to you.

  • I've been watching a lot of videos of people with Asperger's, and most of the time, I wouldn't even guess there was anything "special". You're very articulate, you seem very nice, and if I talked with you, I'm not sure I'd notice anything, you know? But then again, maybe it's different talking solo and talking with someone. Thank you for the video!

  • Don't lose hope, there are people out there who will help you. Join a group of people of Asperger's and the likes, you can do it! Please don't give up.

  • Hi Daje. I have some questions for you. I would rather keep them confidential. I am new to you yube. Is there a way to email directly with out exposing your email?? or mine?

  • Fuck off wanker.

  • The sooner you learn how to shut the fuck up the longer you will stay on the face of Earth, fucking dick! Just a warning!

  • You need to shut up and let this kid do his thing. He is very brave for doing what he is doing. At least he is trying to inform us parents of kids with Aspergers. What good have you done lately?

  • I have been away, what have you done? You need to let this thing go, because it will lead to nothing. Trust me. Have a nice day, sir. I wish you all luck. Besides, I don't really know what you're refering to. What kid? Nevermind, I don't want bring this further. I've got other things to take care of. Bye.

  • sometimes when i play games like Advance Wars, Tetris, or Reversi, after I finish playing the game, for hours or even days after I play, I will still thinking about the game in my head. Like formulating strategies and stuff. Recently It's been happening with the game Reversi. I can even see like a mental image of the entire board, and play both sides of the game by myself in my mind, while i'm doing day to day things like having conversations. Is this something dealing with aspergers syndrome?

  • oh and another thing, youl proly find your speach improves if you just relax your mind when your trying to put thoughts to words. just say what you want and if someone dosnt understand try again! if someones rude then tell them to fuck off! HAHAHA :P

  • Don't bother with medication of psychiatrists. there all a load of rubbish!!! trust me! iv got it and iv been fine sinse 14 without it.

  • My son has AS and you are an inspiration! Please keep it up as most of us parents need this kind of actual, legitimate information as opposed to mere "data."

Thank you for making this. You're awesome! Never let anyone tell you that you are less than brilliant.

  • Daje, great video. Thanks for sharing your story. I'm studying to be a school psychologist and I want to learn more about students on the Autism spectrum. It helps to hear your perspective. Take care.

  • I CAN HAVE ASSBURGERS!?!!??!

  • They used to have me on six different medications, but now I refuse them all as I'm trying to find my place and role in the world with this different kind of mind.

  • Reminds me of myself

  • Daje, do they try to give you medication? The more I learn about aspergers the more I think That is what I have. In the past they tried to give me medication for depression, which only seemed to make things worse.

  • just stop to say hi!!

you are realy young, hope your stomagh is doing well.. (with all the meds)

nice video!! to bad you dont live in tucson... you could have been a huge help when I took english writting!!!! :)

    take care!

    God Bless you!

ps. dont forget to strech the legs once in a while ;)

  • Hi Daje, Your video clip was nice to see it gave me a few anwsers to my questions. My son Javier was diagnosed with autism over a year ago, he is 3 yrs old, he does not speak yet just blabbers like baby talk and it gets fustrating for both of us as he cant get words out, he understands alot I knw that cause he listens. How do I help my son? What are little things that might have helped u as a child that I can help my son with, this is all new to me, it would be great to hear from u thanx...

  • i really respect you CONGRATZ FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO

  • Really informative!!!!! DaJe, u rock!!!!!

  • thanks for this. it helps me. i too have problems with communication and friendships, like making new friends or simple conversation especially with knew people. i daydream a lot of what i could do or could become to make life better. i have thoughts in my mind when i talk but they often dont come out in the right time so the topic switches when im ready to say what to say. i will look for someone to find out if i have asperger too, cuz it would explain a lot. my problems started in the puberty.

  • yeah, i think the best thing you can do is to learn more social habilities, and to get off the drugs, they kill your soul and emotions. Well i know sometimes it's difficult to get the intentions of the people but i'm convinced that you'll get little by little. i don't have these syndrome, but i do had in my past lots of difficult to make social life, and thanks to the phsicology books i have learnt a lot how to manage... although i have some problems of the way of comprension. Be always yourself

  • I'm self diagnosed with asperger's and what your saying seems so similar to the problems I have had a lot of the time. The only thing I can say is I'm 28 now and it seems to get easier to deal with "normal" people as you get older. I actually watch a soap opera now every day just to watch how their non-verbal communication works. The first time a woman gave me the "I want to have sex" look on her face I didn't even know what it meant.

But nowadays I am getting more confident in communication.

  • Congrats on doing this, I'd never have the guts! I also have Asperger's and I know what you meant about drifting off and the surreal feeling you can get upon 'coming back' to the real world. I'm also similar in that I have trouble verbalising my thoughts and have problems with speech especially with people I don't know particularly well, I'm prone to stuttering and getting words mixed up. I would do a video response to this detailing how it affects me and my life but I'm too self-conscious :P

  • I have AS and I could relate to a few of the things here. Namely being more happy inside on the computer. I'm quite happy to sit and talk to people on the computer as I don't have to think about actually talking in person. I'd much rather type too. Secondly the communication thing I can also relate to too because I will be able to think about what I want to say and as soon as I go to say it it'll be like I've hit a wall and the words just won't come out..

  • Another thought, have you ever had problems expressing emotion? I have as it seems I have no definitive emotion for anything unless it's for something I feel very strongly about i.e my girlfriend etc

  • Get off the drugs.............

  • you're very brave.Well Don

  • Very good information, thanks.

    Edna

  • An inspiration. My 7 year old has been recently diagnosed. If when he is 18 he is like you.I will be very proud.Well done :)

  • CONGRATULATIONS ON UR ENGLISH CLASS!

  • screw u!

  • My 14yro recently diagnosed w/ Asperger's. He had issues with ADHD, OCD, tourettes, depression, socially withdrawn, unable to effectively communicate. Finally someone recognized he cannot have all these disorders without a reason. He was diagnosed with possible PDD at 3yrs but my preconceived idea of Autism didn't reflect him. I kept a controlled environment around him, I didn't realize how many issues he had until after we moved to new city and school. My goal is to get him through high school.

  • THANK you for what you said about communicating being easier in typing than speaking! U R the first person that I've heard this from & that's just how it is with me! I am 47 & just discovered on my own that I have AS... thanks & best hopes 2 U... now I knew why I always felt I was SO "different" from others.

  • Well you look fine.

    Just saying.

It could happen to any of us.

I think I'm with you too but I'm undiagnosed.

  • Thank you for sharing. I am trying to get a test or to talk with my Doctors and Therapists more about Aspergers myself.

    I appreciate your information.

  • i personally have asperger's syndrome and it's not very fun... i suffer from similar effects... i'd like to see more from you... 5/5... glad to see i'm not even close to the only one...

  • I used to take Zoloft for depression, I suppose you took it for your social anxiety issues that you thought you had?

I'm glad to see that you're happy with your situation. As long as you're happy, nothing else should matter.

  • how does the abilify work?

  • Helps with focus

  • Hey, very informative video, I'd like to say I have Asperger's as well, I'm always having social problems in my life, I'm glad now that I know I'm not the only one...I used to be very shy as well, I'm 19 now and within time you basically overcome that part of your AS, I sure have, but I still have my moments...

Your's seems kind of mild, like mine....heh heh....Ass Burgers :P Sorry had to say it

    Again great video dude :)

  • Oh and about the medication part, have you ever tried going off it often? I was on a few but not taking them anymore. Its been working for me not being on them tho.

  • Hey man nice video. I have AS and I know exactly what it was like for you.

  • all the best to you i understand i too have asperger's

  • *Points at tags* Spot the /b/tard, haha.

I think I might have AS myself, I surely can relate to what you say. Does that happen a lot with aspies, sorta self-diagnosis?

  • like mid way through u started talking a lot better.

  • You were very articulate and I agree look into diet instead of meds.....it sounded like you were experiencing the come down off of meds....it can do very weird things to your mind....so see if you can wean off slowly and get ahold of a good alternate nutrutionist......

  • Most people with Asperger's are all right, most are fairly decent people who are pleasant to be around. However some people with Asperger's (like the person who posted this video) give it a bad name by acting like 'tards. Unfortunately theyr'e the ones most people think of when they think of Asperger's.

But seriously, it's not something people need professional help for in most cases, if anything the diagnosis is based on minor personality quirks that don't really affect much of anything.

  • Becareful not to keep experimenting with psychiatric drugs.. they are likely to label you alsorts of horrible labels. It sounds you need a nutritionalist. Not a dietician, but B vitamins, and a book like treats check your histamines and hypoglycemia, candida albicans diet. Magnesium, fish oil. I have a severely autistic son and I know life is not simple. Best wishes. Thanks for putting this video on it was helpful

  • Your real brave to talk to the world. Thank you for who you are, and may the future hold the world for you. You may not know it, but this video affected me in a good way, thank you. Your a good person.

  • HAHA! Fun watching you! Not in the negative way! I just enjoy it - the honesty you have.

  • Is it normal to have never had a girlfriend or dated if you have Asperger Syndrome? I feel suicidal because of this

  • i know how you feel my brother has the same thing and its hard for him to communicate and he doesnt have a girlfriend and he's 18. but my mom has some friends who have the same thing and are married. dont worry youll get a gf one day. it happens to everyone.

  • yeah but I'm 20 and have never had a girlfriend or dated, I know I will have a girlfriend one day, but I want it to be soon while I am still young, it's unfair, like almost everyone, most people have their first boyfriend/girlfriend in high school and before the ages 20 and 21, it's not fair, how do people get into a relationship so easily? it's like second nature for them, it's like it never took them practice

  • okay well i dont have it but for advice just like dress up cool maybe do the emo thing. wear tight pants because its hot from a girls perspective. and ya get the hairstyle and just chill. whooooo walla youll have girls all over.

  • you'll date...i've dated someone with AS and I think I have it but never been diagnosed...don't feel bad...it'll happen for you at the right time

  • yeah, well hopefully before I'm 25 or 30, I don't want to become a 40 year old virgin.

  • come join our internet group for aspergers at freewebs (dot) com (slash) aspergerkids

  • Thats really beautiful man thank you

  • Hi. Iam James from the UK. I also have aspergers syndrome. I am 21 now and was diagnosed at the age of nine. I used 2 suffer with my motoring skills, I still do now but I aren't as bad. For e.g, When I was at school, I found things more difficult to do that came naturally 2 others and it really used 2 frustrate me. Did you ever have that problem?

  • I do have A child with autism and he is taking the same madication and also almost everything that you are seying it happening to him.Thank so much for you vidio.Kenia gil

  • Come and join our Aspergerkids group at freewebs.

  • Hei DaJe!

Did you have as-traits when you where 7-12 years old? If you had what kind of symtoms?

  • Great vid. I'm a bit of a dreamer myself, but after wathcing this vid and little info 'bout asperger, I kind of notice myself there.

    - I'm not much of a social missile, difficult to meet new persons

    - Difficult to speak

    - "own world conception"

    - strange movement(s) patterns

    Q:

Are/were you interested or good in math? Or did you always get drifted into your thoughts during math-classes? Do you talk yourself when alone? Does the medication have side-effects? Does the diagnosing take long?

  • good video

what do you think of my new video versions of the musikvideo "How can you" remix?

The song is about understanding the one's whit Autism or Asperger's syndrome.

    //Hjalle

  • in my case was different, before i was 12 yrs old i was a normal child im really normal im so talkative and have a lot of friends but at an incident on my gradeschool GRADUATION, after that i just acted so strange and im the most quiet person in class.

  • holy crap I like pie 2 man dude lets get married!

  • i to have AS,i seem to score pretty high in english but have a hard time communicating. Although, i can be very social at times and at other times i can be very shy if i dont know someone that well, the social part isnt as hard for me as learning things, when my mom told me about this disorder she said it was a learning disability. i have very weird learning patterns but once i do learn something it comes very fast and easy. Like the kid on the video i also seem to chat online alot which is odd

  • I have asperger syndrome. Mine is kind of mild, i have obsessions that are unatural like cartoons and stuff, i used to HATE crying, laughing, coughing. I don't soicalize with many people. But do love to talk on the phone!

  • haha coughing! coughing sucks, with or without it! =)

  • You said that you make weird twisting movements and other strange movements. This could be Tourette's syndrome as well.

  • If you do have Asperger's, and have "weird" hobbies, the key is choosing a hobby that feels natural to you, that you truly love, and find a way to share it with other people so they can enjoy it in their world, too. Look at Tim Burton. He likes moving shapes of clay a millimeter at a time for hours and hours (animation). It works for him, and it works for the millions of people who pay to see his movies. I call it building a bridge, from one world to another, and it can change a life.

  • i might have aspergers syndrome i struggle to meet new people, last year i had a job but left that because of anxiety and panic.

ive had that when you feel like youre not that my brother got married last year and im obsessed with that and have intersted in weird hobbies

  • What makes Asperger's difficult is that we can be virtually "normal", whereas autistics are normally virtual. This means we are constantly almost fitting in, rather than obviously not, so we can be torn apart at parties an autistic would never be invited to. No little bus for us; we have to take the big one with everyone else. Sometimes I feel like we're astronauts who don't need suits in space, but rather on earth.

  • I to have Aspergers and connect to almost everything you said in this video. I'm not sure if I could put a video together has I find things so hard to be put into words. I also stay in all the time Role playing games on my PC are pretty much my entire life.

  • I find things hard to put into words at well. Luckily I was able to do it though. Sometimes my mind can be more clear than others, and it's easier to do.

  • You sound and look pretty normal to me. Drifting into your own world, social anxiety and having difficulty finding the right words are all common to most people. Nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion. Of course, if this happens ALL of the time then it's a bigger issue.

My quick observation is that the biggest problem is giving you a label. Twenty years ago, this would have been called shy.

  • You're right, and everyone does have these sorts of problems occasionally. But for some people, it's a lot harder, and they really do have an issue and need something extra to help them out. For me, I've been seeing my psychiatrist and multiple counselors and being on and off various medications for the past 7 years.

  • That's how I'm able to present myself well enough today. I still have issues though, some of which I may never get over. but of course the way to truly get over something is through yourself. Medication is only an aid to help you out a little. For me, it's gotten to the point where I do not leave the house at all to meet people. I'm a lot better than I used to be though.

  • do you have problems following rules? or like not following rules unless you see the true purpose (spell?) of it?

  • Hi. I have a son (21 years old) who has Asperger's. He also communicates best in written language and has only online friends- and is happy with this. I have had to accept that it's MY need (as his mother) that he has friends IRL, not his. I really liked your video - yhank you so much! Best wisjes from Norway

  • I'm glad I was able to help you understand better about what he has to go through. Things can be hard for people at sometimes. We just have to accept that some will lead different lives, and that is okay.

  • My niece has Asperger's. I'm trying to understand the socialization aspects of the condition. Many people talk about not having a best friends. You mentioned having online friends. Is that enough for you? You said you were happy, but what about dating or getting married some day? It is certainly not a topic I have found many people with Asperger's talking about. Comment only if you feel comfortable.

  • I do have people I know who I would consider friends, that I could go out and meet and they would know me and all that. I don't that though. I've actually never really done that. I really only saw them at school. Once I start classes at a local college in January, I do plan on trying to meet some new people, but it's something that makes me feel really anxious. For me, my online friends are enough.

  • We all know each other really well. I can even use my headset and camera to talk with them. I do plan on meeting someone special some day and getting married. It can be hard for me to deal with people, but it's possible, and I'm better at dealing with it now after all these years. If I can really get to know somebody well enough, usually it's aright. But I might have trouble even just starting to talk to them or understanding them.
