It's just a low E dropped to D. You can get the tunes from thesession dot org and then work away at them.
Not all tunes work well on the guitar, they were written for other instruments, e.g. flute, violin, etc. but some come out alright

AKA 'Dropped D' tuning. Common in Irish music.
