I never heard of a Hawaiian sun god. Haleakalā probably is a variation of Heleakala or "snaring of the sun" All the stories I read and heard, they referred to the sun as "ka la" not a proper noun.
This for me is one of my post I want to do Yoga one morning . It shall come to pass this I know for the AllMighty told me so . As I believe the cosmos shall bring it to me.
I think your culture is wonderful. I dream about visit your land one day and to have the chance to know your culture better. I think I have so much to learn. all my respect, and love, June from Italy.
My brothers let there be no conflict here as to what you are or where you come from.....Native, Polynesian, African we are all First People and the voice of the drum speaks to our hearts.....this portal to the world of all our ancestors..binds us..one to the other...I am thankful for Kealii"s brilliant soul and the beauty of the Polynesian People and to the Native Americans....we are One Voice...I say this to you from the heart of an African.
@kahunahawaii No one is native to this planet. We are all pure spirit soul (animals too!) and are "of the gods": all souls are part and parcel of the Supreme Lord.
Aloha! Wow, what a powerful video! ..very moving with the chant and the view above the clouds as the sun awakens is just beautiful and breath taking! :D Much Mahalo for sharing!! :) -Ali'i
Mahalo for your response. Yes, I have searched His name and can't seem to find which album this song is on. I would love to listen to it in my car. Do you know what CD it is on?
He is gorgeous! Oh My Gosh...he's gonna break a lot of hearts. This video is so awesome I posted a link here from my webpage so many more can appreciate this.
I use to live in Ana Kula, behind the Kula lodge. WE lived on the Haleakala Mountain and I miss it so. My Granddaughter lives on the Island of Oahu. When my parents pass, I am hoping and praying to move back home to Maui. I never thought I would ever miss a place so much. Thank you for bringing some heart felt beauty to me. May our Lord Father keep you safe. Aloha my brother!

life's work of historic idealology. Sounds extreme but new work is also based on old work
Catagorize your heart out, debate the issue til your blue the fact is the debate will carry on until you get rid of it.
They aren't mainland Native Americans, but they are Native Americans, they are on America, the New Land, and they are the first to be on their land, therefore they are Native Americans, and Native Hawaiians are also part of the American Indian Movement, look it up yourself.
I guess I have a different opinion on that. I'm not an Indian. I respect their beliefs and culture and like any indigenous society, there are similarities in cultural beliefs, life styles and religious practices. But to combine us all in to "Native Americans" is a bit much. There is no American people. American's are a mixture of people who come from their own home land.
The difference with both American Indians, Hawaiians and even Eskimos, is that the land we live on is "our" land. We were born here. We come from our "gods". Our land is our life. A similarity in all of our cultures is that we don't believe we "own" the land. We coexist on it with other beings. So when the initial contact came with foreigners, we were totally unprepared for the concept of "buying" or "claiming" land.
The concept of "connecting" our situation with that of other cultures is way to adapt to the current government and how we can get ourselves heard. This is just my opinion, and I'm sure others have theirs, but I don't think an American Indian would consider them selves "like" a Hawaiian just because we are a part of the American nation.
Awesome!!!!!!!!! I'm transferring to UH in Spring of 09, so I decided to look up the non cleche' Hawaii and this is amazing, I'm soo glad that they are considered to be Native American, and it'll be surrounded by Natives who know that they are, unlike the mainland. It's going to be such a great experience. I'm not so worried about not being around my native culture anymore.
...I'm assuming you are native american. Hawaiians are Hawaiians and Native Americans are Native Americans.
Hawaiians are from Polynesia and Native Americans are from the continental United States. I hope you learned geography and Hawaiian history in school... >.>
Aloha !
