nothing happens if two galaxies crash, a few million years later they would merge into one supergalaxy, but the stars would pretty much be unharmed. galaxies are mostly empty space

the chances of these two "cores" to collide so directly are a trillion to one, it's more likely that they start orbiting eachother, and even if their combine gravity should be enourmous, there is still an eventhorizon around a black hole marking the limit to which objects are going to be "swallowed"...
