If the criteria of being a good ball is increasing your score without improving your bowling then this is a good ball. That seems to be what bowling's all about today anyway. Self-deception is about all todays bowler is proficient in thanks to the efforts of the BPAA controlled USBC. Brunswick, like many companies, will accommodate any destructive notion as long as there's a monetary reward. That's why all their balls are made in Mexico by Mexicans rather than made in USA by Americans.
@BowlwithBrunswick I'm still trying to fine tune my game as a bowler and was wondering what you mean when you say things like "3 and 1 inside" or "4 and 2 outside" that kind of thing. I understand the inside/outside, straighter and wider. I'm just getting lost with the numbers. I assume its talking about board movements, but is it Feet and Mark or the other way around?
@jonglifunchow Okay, watch the video with Del Ballard Jr. at the tournament of champions. That is one example of what can happen when you play with fire. Thats why high curving bowling balls aren't the best.
@AustinClos Watch Sean Rash with his Alpha Max. He isn't as consistant with his throws as he could be because you have to be spot on to get a good carry with the Alpha Max.
@BowlwithBrunswick I don't see how you can be consistant with this ball. The guy in this video goes out to about the 4-5 board without the polish. With the polish, he is out to the 2-3 board. I don't know about anyone else, but if I was to do that, I would be consistant, alright. Consistant getting gutter balls! You guys should create a video with the Hammer Taboo and the Alpha Max. The Taboo has room for error, unlike the Alpha Max.
@900Perfect. That is a tough question, and it is best answered by only talking about the alpha-max relative to the other Brunswick balls.
The alpha-max is the most aggressive ball in the Brunswick line. The overall difference in ball motion between the alpha-max and the Nano may vary based on the bowler's style and lane conditions.
@BowlwithBrunswick ok well just for fun, let's say its the same bowler using the new VG Nano and the Alpha-Max, both balls drilled 45-5in-45 dual angle layout, throwing at 17mph and 450rpm. which ball would have more overall hook and also which ball would carry the pins better if they were to throw the same line? (whatever line that may be) just out of curiousity, because I think you can answer that question and your last response was pretty vauge in addressing the person's question :P thanks
@AugieGK4life We want to help and are not trying to be vague. There are 7 major variables that contribute to ball motion. Lane Surface and Lane Oil Pattern play a big part. Picking a general lane condition like the USBC pattern and Brunswick Pro Lane, the Alpha Max would have more backend reaction with slightly less overall hook. The Nano has a rougher surface out of the box and should roll earlier. Re: pin carry, the ball with the strongest backend will carry better than an early rolling ball
@900Perfect I would say they are both excellent balls. As far as reaction, from my experience the Nano hooks harder at the back end than the max. However, on really heavy oils (i mean drowning in oil) i pull out my alpha because my nano doesn't do the super heavy oils as well.
Have only had it two days has 6 games on it and i already love it. this ball doesnt quit it keeps driving threw the pins, can the the ball real deep to the point you dont even think its coming back. 233 256 248 for 752 tonight i went 246 298 237 for 781 averageing 255.5 so far. If your even thinking about getting this ball stop thinking and get ordering.
@rotogrip138 i see what you mean but thats not the ball rolling out. look at the shots with the wicked seige, that ball keeps hooking through the pins. and the shot at 1:10, the alpha-max didnt roll out at all, it almost overhooked. but also with his and her release you can adjust so that the ball rolls up into the pocket instead of hooking hard through it cause that leaves a lot more solid 9s. this is a good release by brunswick (i usually prefer storm)
@AugieGK4life I can agree with you on some of that, but i threw brunswick for almost 2 years straight. Im a heavier tweener and im between up the back and around the ball at release. With brunswick equipment it is very very typical for it to roll out on friction because of the fact it wants to hook earlier. Thats why a good amount of the brunswick staff bowlers either have some loft in their game or get the ball threw the heads with speed.
@rotogrip138 haha yea thats true now that i think about most of them having speed or some loft. honestly my first opinion was they roll out a lot more often than any other line of bowling ball ive thrown. this release just looks better than some of their others thats the bottom line of what i wanna say i guess. i know the first ball i bowled 300 with was a scorchin inferno and ive shot 290-299 back to back with my twisted fury. but most of that was just having the right lane conditions for sure.

Ive heard bad things about the 4.5 but I love the 3.5 I think this ball needs to get in my bag soon.

im so glad brunswick introduced the c series.. the 3.5 is a monster and i cant wait to get this one.

@mlim23 That's prefect. The 4.5 and the Alpha Max are complete opposites in ball motion. You should pick one of these up as well.
