I'm sorry my friend, there is alittle bit of money spent on the Northeast corridor where you live. That's not the way it is west of Buffalo. We have few trains that sell out often. Most service is once a day or three days aweek. We get nothing! This is unfair, and it's because of the highway and airline lobby. Example: Hartford, CT Insurance and Banking center what, ten trains daily? Des Moines,Iowa. Much bigger than Hartford. Insurance and Banking Center. Trains Zero!

Railroad got rid of the property because they paid taxes on it. These funds were used along with the highway trust funds to build roads and airports putting the "Green" way of traveling out of business. Trains! But cheap oil is gone. The oil companys are pushing bus rapid transit (there's a joke, rapid buses) you might end up with one in this area from Hartford. It's just an other road project.

The buses in Watertown are government subsidized as are the railroads today. I can't knock the companies that make money.. William Vanderbilt made his and created a lot of American Jobs. I'm all for road projects and i'm a railroad buff.

I feel this way, because I'm not just a FRN. I'm a customer. Customers demand good service. The roads are way over build, and have distroyied our cities. The buses no longer pay fuel taxes. (Charters I think do) fixed route services also get grants to operate. They pay no real estate taxes either. The bus stations are city owned or they stop at train stations. There were so many bus passengers in Chicago Union Station. Amtrak had to throw them out. These were intercity buses. Not City service.

For the past 38 years the government tryied to shut down the popular rail passenger system. This is the first time Amtrak has had the money to run.The transportation policy has just been unacceptable. Most people in government that have voted against the trains were thrown out. In Minneasota it was ALL of them. Minneapolis not only has streetcars again, now they have commuter rail. The streetcar system is so popular. They can't take a car out of service to fix it. They are running wrecks.

President William Howard Taft arrived in Dowrtown Watertown early morning Dec. 18 1909 He rode on the regular Watertown train. In 1974 the tracks were torn up and the railroad bed was given to Watertown.
