@jdcha9163 maybe but the STI cost around what .. 5K more than a mustang minimum .. ? :D you can run the new mustang gt 2011 5.0l 412 hp for around 30 grand + tax .. 12.8 on the quarter mile .. what about the new STI ? 13.5 on the quarter mile for around 35 grand + tax .. yeah the quarter mile time while depend on the driver .. but still .. even if you look at the price just to maintain a subaru STI .. the mustang win hands down .. i love the STI but for the price ;)

Ok first off common sense and logic both lead you to the conclusion that, mod for mod, an engine with a larger displacement will beat an engine with a smaller displacement. Sure a stock STI would probably beat a GT, most forced induction cars do beat most naturally aspirated cars. I find it funny when STI owners make excuses when a Turbo GT beats their stock STI. They use the fact that it's modded as an excuse when really all the GT owner is doing is going mod for mod.
When I say mod for mod I mean making both cars turbocharged. I know you're thinking well the STI comes turbocharged stock but if you used an IDENTICAL turbo from an STI and put it on a GT the STI would still get beat in a drag because the GT has a larger displacement engine......there now I feel as though I've educated some people, mostly fanboys who probably listen to my logic anyway but what the hell, there's my two cents, enjoy!

Honestly though, the STI driver can't drive, and we all know it. It was a terrible launch. Hand the STI keys to someone who can, and the AWD launch will kill ANY other car from the start. Period.
Mustang lovers enjoy this vid. It's not very often you'll see a Mustang beat an STi. The only times it happens is when the STi driver is no good or the Mustang has more mods. Subarus are faster with half the engine. Mustangs require much modding, are less reliable and couldn't win ANY race with a turn. Get owned horse breath.
Stock for stock, I say you're right about the winning of races with turns. However, with about $5000 to burn on a '89 Mustang GT (bought for $1000) I could easily attain world-class handling via Maximum Motorsports. $2500 buys me the Road & Track box, which holds/held (tied with a '98 Viper GTS) the third fastest slalom times ever recorded in an otherwise stock Fox-bodied Mustang in Motor Trend history.
More modding? Heard of the cobra or shleby? Put a grand in a new shelby and you're laying down 580whp yeah WHEEL HP. Or throw the Helion turbo kit on a 03,04 cobra over 1100ho at the WHEEL thats with everything stock but the fuel system and a better clutch.

the sti was stock, i know this cause it was my sti! The only thing i did to the car was remove my muffler so i wouldn't have so much turbo lag.
