The context is that when he went he did Jamie's pregnancy he blamed the parents because they had no control over her. She was allowed to run wild. Bristol was supervised when she got pregnant. It was two different situations so there were two different analysis's. Anyone who watches his show knows that.

One of them said "you endorse marijuana in one of your books." But he never read the paragraph where it was. He just made the assertion and everyone believed it.

He couldn't provide context because it was never read aloud. If the kid really wanted to prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt he would have just said it but never did. He clearly showed he didn't care what Bill said so why did that stop him. It's because he had nothing. It was a bluff. And it wasn't an exact quote but that was basically what he said.

I remember that episode. The kid did attempt to read the paragraph, and he even said the page number, but Bill kept talking over him and trying to end the segment. I believe he said Page 67 in that book, but I cant remember. There's a clip of it here on Youtube.

Out of context? I saw both pieces (Spears, and Palin), and I don't think those edits were out of context, or character for Bill O'Reilly. He's always been a vicious defender and advocate for republicans, while always finding fault with Democrats. Sure, he throws a line out occasionally to make you think he's unbiased (like the oil industry comment), but overall, it's very obvious where his allegiance lies.
