  • Unbelievable. It's as perfect as the studio recorded version. The sol sung by Cheryl Wheeler (the composer) was not on the studio version. Glad they sang it here! :-) Thank you for posting this. RIP Dan. We miss you more than you know. :-(

  • I love this version of Adicted, especially the last verse that Cheryl Wheeler adds at the end.

    Ann

  • Wasn't this guy the brother of Jimmy Seals ( Seals & Crofts ) ?

  • @195511SM Yes. Dan's brother is James Seals of Seals & Crofts.

  • do you have an mp3 of this and the lyrics?

  • what a great duet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! New Cheryl Wheeler fan (longtime Dan Seals fan) so glad to have stumbled upon this video while checking out Cheryl Wheeler's Facebook Fan Page...

  • im probably responsible for half these plays.

  • @gwbadgett And I am responsible for the other half!

  • Very unique guitar player.

  • I didn't realize until just now that he had passed. Such a loss for the country music community! I always loved his songs and his sweet delivery. RIP Mr. Seals.

  • just saw, Jerry Douglas on Dobro, sweet piece!

  • what an amazing song. cheryl wheelers voice cuts right through you. dan seals rip buddy your music will live forever...

  • i lived this song for 11 years

  • Mark O'Conner on guitar and Kyle Lehning on keys.

  • Dan will be sorely missed. Being brought up a small town boy in McCamey and Iraan,Texas he had some geuinine roots. His father and grandfather are buried in Iraan and folks talk about the old times when Dan, his brother and father all used to play in these local small town clubs and dance halls. His songs will be forever remembered for many years to come.

  • absolutely amazing...pure music at its best!

  • @remmor669 could not agree more .tugs at your heart like no other song.is their a god.to take this amazing person .i dont think so

  • nice how he steps back in the end for her, probably one helluva nice guy.

  • I've always loved this song. They are great together and Cheryl Wheeler is such an amazing talent. Love her voice, her songwriting and the emotion she puts into both. I feel every word she sings. unfortunately, these lyrics are alittle too close to heart right now.

  • When did Dan Seals die?

  • how can you not cry when you hear this version? so powerful.

  • I never noticed until just now his guitar is upside down!

  • LOVE the harmonies on this! Looking forward to seeing Cheryl in Cincinnati on Friday!

  • one of my faves rip dan

  • nice tune and voices. but i think it's stupid for anyone to hate sleeping alone. you get the whole bed to yourself and don't have to deal with snoring!

  • i keep playing this one! Such a nice combination of singers.......

  • The one dislike must have been a typo...Great song and singer...Cheryl Wheeler is great too!

  • Beautiful song dan! I sang it at 4 - H camp when i was younger.

  • Possibly the best song ever!

  • I love this song.....melody and lyrics.... Just wonderful!! Thanks for posting!! Thanks so much!!!!

  • I had no idea this was a Cheryl Wheeler song. I loved this song and I like it more now.

  • wow they sounded great together!!

  • Dan's cover of Cheryl's song hit #1 in Billboard, 9-24-88. God bless!

  • I haven't heard this song in so many years... what a voice. Grace & peace, Dan Seals. You were an angel on earth and will always be.

  • If this don't move you then nothing will... or your name is buffy or bobo

  • Exceptional musicians and singers. American roots music, at its best.

  • Dan sounds just as good live! Sad that he had to die :(

  • God Bless You, Cheryl Wheeler - When I lived on Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard, I had all your (I hate to say this, but).. cassette tapes - lol showing my age - at least you were recorded after 8 tracks~! Yep, had one in my first car - a 1967 Chevelle!! Love you and your music!

  • A classic.... I can't tell you how much this song has brought me to tears over the years; beautiful work. Thanks so very much for posting---

  • why does she hate the Lord?

  • . . . perfectly ! ! ! RIP Dan

  • The great one, Dan Seals!!!!!!!!!

    Rita, your french fan.

  • Had not seen this before. I've got five or six albums of each of Cheryl and Dan. Also great to have Mark O'Connor (one of the greatest musicians in the world) and Jerry Douglas (by far the best dobro player in the world). What an awesome lineup of talent!

  • Hewas a good looking man. When I sawhim I always wanted to just lay in his arms. hope he had a good life!

  • Definitly i see myself in this song...especialy in the part that Cheryl sings...LOVE THIS SONG

  • Love this song, it has been so long since I've heard this... Definitely one of the best...Thanks For Posting!!

  • This is from The American Music Shop that ran on TNN

  • two great talents

  • You can sure hear that 12 string.

    Love it!

  • The best song ever ...i could listen to it 24/7 :)))

  • Anyone know what is the first part of what Cheryl is saying just before the song starts. It sounds like it was funny, but without the first part I don't get it.

  • LOL you are in luck I know EXACTLY what they were talking about. They were talking about how they both had lost very expensive Gibson guitars to careless baggage handlers at the airport. She is saying the audience never gets to hear the best instruments as they can never take their good ones with them anywhere they go...This is an episode of Austin City Limits, a PBS broadcast, haven't seen it in a long time though.

  • @dwade1962eagle

WOW thanks. I didn't actually expect an answer. The internet is sooo cool.

  • LOL....yes it is. And I don't even know how to use it to it's fullest. But I hadn't even listened to this rendition in over 6 mos. So the randomness of your question, and my just happening to stop in is what wobbles my mind. Makes one want to believe in karma or something.

  • I sure love this song, brings back memories of the good old days!

  • This is a great song but it sounds better when Cheryl sings the lead.

  • Don't forget about "Aces" which was recorded by both Cheryl and Suzy Boggus. Not hard to see that both these brilliant songs were written by the same talent.

  • That is Mark O'Conner!

  • that is dan seals!

  • Yes it is Good eye

  • Thank you. I couldn't remember his name for the life of me.

  • A simply amazing song. Could someone please tell me who the gentleman wearing the hat. I know I should kinow him.

  • That's Dan Seals. Another wonderful talent taken too early. Cheryl Wheeler wrote the song, and Dan recorded it. It's my favorite song by Dan Seals. Dan sang every song sincerely. Dan was originally the England Dan of he and John Ford Coley Duo.

  • This is one of the best songs I've ever heard. I remember looking for this for yrs and yrs and finally found it through a few lyrics I knew in google!! The story is amazing and the lyrics stunning. Her voice is beautiful. RIP Dan Seals.

  • that's the most touching interpretation of heartbreak I've ever heard.

  • "If she could bear to walk away, she thinks he wouldn't mind." Wow! Simple, powerful expression of the emptiness and frustrations of unrequited love. Some of the saddest words I've heard.

  • What beautiful harmony. Their voices together give even more meaning to the message in the song.

  • both of them are superb. i just recently found cheryl wheeler. heard estate sale on my way to school and thought it was funny. now i like her a lot. especially her song arrow.

  • now this is awesome

  • thats odd it looks like Dan is playing without a kapo but Cheryl is using one on first fret,.

  • It's a small Capo but he does have one on the first fret. What's really odd to me is that he's playing it upside down with the low E on the bottom. I didn't know he did that. No wonder the finger positions look so unusual.

  • I remember seeing this when it originally aired. That's when I "discovered" Cheryl...have been a huge fan ever since. I LOVE her song "Estate Sale".

  • Dan should have recorded the song with the final verse

  • The song was over 4 minutes as is, so it was long. Cheryl said she felt it was better for pop radio w/o the final verse.

  • Thru this song, i discovered that my beloved one has been betraying me for a long time already... This is very superb. But i love this song so much... so meaningful.

  • This may be just me, but when I close my eyes and listen to Cheryl sing, her and Sara evens voice are so similar...

  • you are right on!!!!!

  • I love it. I LOVE IT!!! She has a beautiful voice! Dan seals as an amazing voice as well!

  • :) you have great taste

  • I can't stop watching and listening to this!! It is ADDICTING!!! Can't get it out of my head! love it love it love it!!!!

  • wow! thanks 4 sharing! I've always loved this song. Never heard of Cheryl Wheeler but wow what a beautiful voice! will be looking her up now!

  • Rest in Peace Dan, A true artist, thankful to have him as long as we did....Heavens band needed another voice

  • fantastic lyrics!

  • The song is great he sing the heck out of it.

I was too young to know who he was but I have recently came across his music he was truly gifted.

  • i love dan seals..one of the very best...

His song ONE FRIEND is even translated in one of our local dialects...

  • Somehow i missed the news that Dan Seals had passed, i had known he was very sick. He was a gem, and his music is still some of the best i've ever heard. I hope he knew what an impact he had on people.

  • Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!

  • My God what a sad night..to find out that Dan Seals and Vern Gosdin both have left us here to sing their songs by ourselves. What a beautiful song..and timeless classic is truly the best way to describe it. I know I would truly be more lonely to feel that I were the only one to ever have felt this way and to have never heard Cheryl or Dan sing this song. God Bless you Dan! We will never forget your songs that helped me get through my youth.

  • @gpfarmdog

dont know how old you are, but i agree. i love this classic heart felt music. its a fading art

  • I have always loved this song. It's timeless. Dan Seals is a legend who made his mark on the music scene. He will be missed.

  • I love last verse that was never recorded on the origonal album release

  • This is great country music....great any kind of music

  • His guitar playing is nothing short of MAGIC!!

  • BRod313 - I'm SO Happy that you've posted this. I saw it when it was originally on television and loved it. Cheryl Wheeler is an amazing song writer as well as singer, and what can you say about Dan Seals other than THE BEST. RIP Dan....you are missed.

  • Can anyone tell me why his chords are so hard to play? Look close, he plays some messd up chords. (i know why, just testin fans)

  • Because he was a Left-Handed who plays on guitars for Right-Handes. He plays with the bass string on the "down side of the guitar" ! and the little strings up. Just like Jimy Hendrix

Well, i'm a French man and i don't writre and speak english very well, so i hope you can see what i mean.

  • Danny was decided left-handed. When he was part of The Southwest F.O.B. (before England Dan and John Ford Coley), I had the great joy of ATTEMPTING to play his 12 string ... I'm right-handed, so one can only imagine the sound that came out of that guitar!

    Danny, you are missed.

  • Dan Seals....he will be missed.

  • Man do their voices melt together!

  • Dan was an outstanding artist, and he will be missed.

  • Vio con dios amigo. Because of the man you were and the songs you leave behind you will live forever.

  • wow so sad to hear that he is gone, I will always be "addicted" to his music, what memories they bring back. Enjoy your rest, you and your music will always be with your fans forever.

  • I discovered this song years after it was released, when I started workig in country radio. An awesome recording, an awesome song. A great talent, but we will never lose him completely thanks his recorded music.

  • Rest in Peace "England" Dan Seals. I'm glad to have found this vidfeo as I am a huge fan of Cheryl Wheelers 'as well.

  • ...I have good memories hearing this song,Cheryl sings the verse Dan Seals left out in his famous recording.

The song is inspired by a sister of a friend of Cherly who had a hard time obviously.....thanks for posting this!

  • what a voice on cheryl. beautiful. best version of this song i've ever heard.

  • Ditto, Baby

  • A very under rated guitarist. Dan's playing is beautiful

  • Wow, i love this song. I too love the duet performance! GREAT!!! Amazing! WOW!!!

  • This is as good as it gets!

  • great now i have frikken tears in damn eyes...damn it...stupid girl for leaving me.hope she "feels just like a fool".....grrrrrrrrr

  • thats one ugly ass cherryl but wow she sounds good.who knew lol.i love this duet version WAYYYYY BETTER then just him.they sing well togeather.i think my ex needs to hear this lmao im so taking a trip out of town lmao this month.we were 6 years and 4 months were apart now. :( so im living this song

  • Wow. This by you is a compliment? Cheryl Wheeler is an amazing singer-songwriter, and from what I know of here, a wonderful human being. Oh, and she's happily married, so apparently not everyone shares your opinion about her looks.

  • Guy was just a troll, he will never do anything this beautiful. I am always amazed at her voice. And lyrically? Wonderful, "bounces like a yo yo when he pulls her string" How many men and women have felt exactly that way?

  • Yeah, I know, he just got my Grr, Arg going because I'm kind of sick of the stereotype that you have to be a photoshopped fashion plate to be worthy of praise. :/

  • Oh I agree, you have be super model to even be on stage today, and there are some talented ones, but we would have missed out in my generation on Janice Joplin, Momma Cass and so many more if they were trying to break in today.

  • @dwade1962eagle I can think of one woman -- many, many years ago!! I lived this song. I'm married 34 years to him now, so I guess I'm still addicted! ;-)

  • @ChrisCurtisFan Well bless your heart, 34 years! Always amazed at that, I can't even add up all three of my marriages and come up with that number! He is a lucky fella, tell him I said so. Of course sounds like you rode out the rough times waiting for him!

  • obviously you're a shallow little man to look only on the outside. Cheryl has a wonderful sense of humor and is an incredible song writer/singer. Too bad so many judge by what's on the outside...you really are missing out on a lot in life by walking through it with blinders on.

  • Cheryl Wheeler recorded this one on her Cheryl Wheeler CD and sang all four verses. I have a copy which is the only CD that I'm aware of that has her performing the song. Dan omits the fourth verse on his CD. Sheryl's voice on this song is hauntingly beautiful. I saw Dan perform twice at the Wagon Wheel in Warsaw, Indiana, in the late 80's. Truly an outstanding singer, song writer, and musician.

  • Nice performance,vintage Dan!!

  • Outstanding! My only small criticism is that it would have been better if Mark was playing fiddle on this.

  • AWESOME!!!!!! 5 *****'s

  • wow. i taped this when it was on tnn years ago. i lost the tape ahwile after and never found it. i had the audio of this but lost the video. then you tube comes along. thank you for putting this on. i love cheryl doing this song...her song...real cool...

  • Cheryl Wheeler writes songs that smash through all the barriers and go straight to the heart. She takes heartbreak, joy, anger, peace, passion, indifference - and every other emotion one can feel - and gives them beautiful expression in her lyric and her melodies. Dan Seals gives this one the perfect voice.

  • Dan Seals songs are realy great, especially addicted

  • Thank you for this great video. I have been a fan of Dan since the 70s. This is great to see the writer sing with Dan.

  • That was great especially to hear the extra verse. Thanks for this special post.

  • Yes great song does anyone notice that he plays a right handed guitar upside down?

  • Wow!! never noticed it! That's really cool! All this time, I kept thinking to myself what are these weird chord shapes he's playing...Now I know..Thanks!

  • They sing the song beautifully together.. and their guitar playing is also wonderful!

  • Kudos to you for posting and to the show AMS for bringing the writer and the popularizer of this great song together for a fantastic duet.

  • A rare treat, seeing Cheryl play and sing with Dan Seals as they do one of her songs that he brought fame to.

  • Great song! Would you mind sending it to me?
