Thanks Bob, and they do sound good!!! Bob, if you notice in the second clip, even though they are both GE units, you can hear the difference between the 3200HP and the 4000hp unit trailing. The second unit has more cylinders, and sounds like its running faster than the lead unit. Take care, Jack
Thanks for that Jack, I know very little about these wonderful locos, and your highly detailed notes and explanations are very helpful so thanks for that...Bob
If you watch closely, (and I played it over and over), the locomotive pass at 1:40-1:45 unless I'm mistaking, you will see the number is 6249. I also have it on my note pad as such. Is it possible, they haven't been renumbered yet for the new units coming?
Where you out there??? He had a big train tonight, and a B&O coach bringing up the rear. I had an aproach on the signal for him, and tried to get on the porch to give him the highball...

Great clip, but a minor correction I think - the second unit would be 6049, a C40-8; 6249 would have been either an SD40 or C40-8W.

The lead unit is a C32-8 which were used in conrails " ballast express " trains. All have been scrapped as of now.
