Anybody who thinks anything on the new album is in any way divergent from previous offerings is nuts. You're imagining it. BNL ALWAYS dabbled across the genres from adult contemp. to folksy to alternative. They still do all of those things. If you hadn't noticed this about them previously, then as far as I'm concerned, you're just another wannabe who only ever listened to One Week and Brian Wilson. Listen to a whole album for once. You KNOW I'm right. The new album fits right in. It's excellent.

They sound good but I feel like a lot of what they had is lost now that Page is gone, their music has taken a more typical approach and seems like they are having less fun with it. They are still fantastic just in a different way that I'm not sure I will be able to associate with the BNL I like.

@d2gensan I dunno. Have you seen them live since Page left? I feel like they're at least having a better time on stage ...like they're just happy to still be together. They even brought back a version of the Barenaked Rap! Towards the end there, Page seemed to be really depressing in any interview or anything I saw him in. I'm sure they'll get a bit more peppy once the initial shock/emo-ness of Page leaving wears off :)
