  • the ones who have it real hard in boot camp are the dudes who don,t know how to swim cuz you don,t graduate boot camp until you learn how to swim, i know a few who ended up 3 weeks longer in boot camp until they learned how to swim..........

  • @derail14 - It's true! We had two guys in my division that couldn't swim at all. They eventually got ASMO'd shortly before Battle Stations, and they then passed the swim test right after. WTF?

  • th hardest thing when i went to boot camp was........ NOTHING, lol , maybe the party showers ;)

  • @joshkilla67 - Yeah, that was weird to get used to lol!

  • So do you wear contacts when entering the water for the swimming? Since you wear glass. Or did you not wear any at all. Cause I do wear glass too

  • @k3vinyAng - While in boot camp, you're not allowed to wear your contacts at all. Some people wore their BCGs (Birth Control Glasses) to the swim test, which freaked me out a bit. Then again, I could see myself losing them at the bottom of the pool or something stupid like that. When I took the test, I did it without my glasses and passed just fine.

  • I'm not a great swimmer, but i can swim, how good of a swimmer do i need to be to join the navy?

  • @MCWhiteee90 - As long as you got the basic form down, you'll be fine. Watch my swim test NFAQ for more info!

  • @MCWhiteee90 Just being able to doggie paddle will get you by, it was enough for me. All you have to do basically is jump from a diving board that's maybe 20-30FT high and swim for a few minutes around the pool and that's it.

  • @MCWhiteee90 - @sapher2020 is right, although I personally went for the backstroke over the doggy paddle since backstrokes are the easiest to do for me. Whatever works best for you is what you should use.

  • oh hey guys the hardest thing in the navy is the seamen :D

  • @Lmfaoyoumad1 - Lol!

  • @jacksxnbxss. Oorah!!

  • Join the marine corps

  • What's the regulation for wearing sunglasses in uniform? Are you allowed to wear all black Ray Bans?

Also how do you get a division job in bootcamp? Do you have to take a test to qualify for the job, or do they just ask "who wants a job"

  • @myprettypinkdiamond - Great questions!!

From what I've been told, you're only allowed to wear all-black sunglasses in uniform, and you can't wear them in ranks (ie everyone's all lined up in formation). The most common sunglasses I've seen are Oakleys, which actually give a pretty sweet military discount.

Getting jobs in your division varies depending on how your RDCs do things. In my division, my Chief asked everyone questions and he handed out jobs accordingly.

  • What kept you going in bootcamp? Or in other words, what kept you motivated? I leave next month, I'm really nervous and excited. But I keep reminding myself its only two months out of my whole lifetime,

  • @myprettypinkdiamond - Honestly, seeing the proud looks on my folks' faces when I graduate is what got me through everything. There were some tough times, but when it's all said & done, you'll miss it.

  • Sup, if you don't mind I got a question on my mind that recruiters have kind of given me a shaky answer on.

I'm wanting to get into the navy as a CS for education and discipline. I'm a fairly capable person, at least average in most fields, but I lack a bit in confidence. All I know about boot camp from the videos is that it's very physically and mentally challenging, but is the atmosphere of support or hostility? If I do what I'm told, will I still get demoralized? What if I struggle at all?

  • @Colorfulspheres - Overall, the atmosphere is supportive, but it'll take some time for you to figure that out since it's a "tough love" kind of support. Initially, the RDCs get on everyone's case as they break you down to change your way of thinking. Only the first three weeks are really tough, but after that it's not so bad. If the RDCs see that you're trying really hard but struggling, they'll help you out. Just remember, it's all about tough love.

  • @AndySan Cool, that's just what I'm looking for. Thanks man!

  • @Colorfulspheres - Not a problem!

  • @AndySan Thanks for the reply. I leave tomorrow for boot bamp

  • @AndySan i hear the NAVY is CO-OP. are there a lot of girls living around you? i wanna know because thats one of the reasons id wanna join;D. My second question is have you deployed yet?

  • @5bishop5 - There are a lot of girls here on base, but I'd prefer not to get involved with them since it's basically fucking your co-worker. Everybody knows your business and when you break up, everyone gets on your ass about it. Too much drama for me IMO!

  • @5bishop5 if the navy wanted you to fuck they would issue you "girls," as you put it. dont join the navy for a stupid reason like that.

  • @plurpatrick - Word.

  • @AndySan I heard they give you a pill for the ass shot now. I hope to god that's true now.

  • @pongstick - That's only if you're allergic to penicillin.

  • What about all the shots u get when u get there? I heard u gotta get one on ur butt?

  • @Kboogie219 - The Penicillin butt shot, aka the peanut butter shot, wasn't as bad as everyone hyped it up to be. Then again, I have a big ass so your mileage may vary ;)

The only shot that actually hurt was one in my left shoulder. I guess that corpsman's aim was a little off that day.

  • there was a girl in my brother div, who no shit fell out 5 seconds into every run and couldn't do one pushup

  • @chazm00 - Really? Lol! Bet she was on FIT forever, haha!!

  • @AndySan no she got seperated lol

  • @chazm00 - Oh. Well, it happens.

  • are the as harsh with yelling and stuff like any other boot camp or are the stern but chill

  • 12 min

  • I'm a 18 year old male, how long do I have to do the 1.5 mile run?

  • @MrBryantT254 - At least 12:15 according to navy hyphen prt dot com

  • If you fail the PFA the first time, do most sailors pass their final? Do the Chiefs work with you if you fail? What happens if you fail your final?

  • @28bsascout - Depends on how motivated they are to pass. I failed the first two and then the final PFA, but I only failed my final PFA by 5 pushups so my Chief arranged for me to retake it a couple days later and I passed everything! Like my Chief said, if you work hard and show motivation, they'll step up to bat for you when stuff like this goes down.

  • Dude i suck at push ups i can only do like 20 max in 2 mins i dont wanna look like a punk...everything else im confident about ....and advice?

  • @jadpapi - On pushups, you mean? I'm recommend practicing dips first so your arms can do a proper pushup (ie hands facing the ground squarely bending your elbows back instead of in a diamond shape bowing your arms outward).

  • Because you didnt prepare yourself to PT test, instead you post videos instead of working out dumb!

  • ...... their is nothing hard about navy boot camp

  • @navgunner89 - True. PT was the hardest for me, but it was far from impossible though.

  • why did u upload this on 9/11

  • @deridaking24 - Oh wow, I didn't even realize that! Thanks for noticing!!

  • u should ask someone and look into it

  • @wyatt8s - I might make this into a new episode of N-FAQs once I get word on what the verdict is for laser corrective eye surgery ;)

  • @AndySan cool beans mention me and tag me in it , wyatt aits , thatd be the tits

  • hey why dont you get prk surgery? doesnt the navy cover that kinda stuff?

  • @wyatt8s If you've had it I believe it is a medical disqualification. I don't know why.

  • @TheEpisteme - Hmm, I'll have to look into that since I want to get rid of these confounded glasses lol!

  • @AndySan Seems strange to me. I really don't know much about it and I would have no clue why corrective eye surgery would be a disqualifying, but my recruiter told me last week that service members who get it and try to hide it will probably be thrown out if caught. I wondered why it isn't allowed but I don't have a vision problem and I had other stuff to ask him.

  • im glad the marine core isnt teaching me how to fold sheets...

  • @messy9293 hahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahahah everyone does their bull shit.

  • just wanted to ask when your at sea how long are the terms? and how often do you get deploy? thank you for all the info. is of lots of help mr. andysan

  • @akire151 im on deployment now...im on a 3 1/2 year deployment in afghanstan and have not seen my son and im to reinlist

  • You failed the final PFA, really guy? Thats sad. I have sickle cell got 13:09 for my first run 60 push ups 62 sit ups and 10:02 for my final run 112 push ups and 103 sit ups at my final.... Didint they PT you guys everyday but Saturday?

  • @IxBOOSTxBKs - I wasn't in very good shape when I first got there, and I was worn out by the time the final PFA came around, but I still passed in the end so it's all good.

When I did a mock PRT a month later after I got out of boot camp, I ran in about 12 minutes and did slightly better on the pushups and situps (I don't remember the numbers since it was awhile ago).

  • @IxBOOSTxBKs

    cool brag...

  • @petervischiofilm Its called motivating yourself to do your best not just barely trying to get by, thats what the Navy preaches and thats what i live by

  • for my sailor PFA was hard for him at first too, he said the showers was really the worst part for him but he was the RCPO for his divison as well so he said it made it that much harder for him, he had Cheif Z. good videos:)

  • @sweetnoelle94 - Thanks, Taylor! Yeah, being the RCPO (or Arpoc as we called them) is a tough gig, but if you rise to the challenge, you'll come out that much stronger!

  • in the navy boot camp do u actully get time to eat lol?

  • @callmeblainer - Please watch N-FAQs 03 to find out lol!

  • @callmeblainer 3 times a day

  • Best of luck to you young shipmate. Use your love of posting youtubes to develop training programs / advancement at your first command.

  • @doc8406 - Thanks!

You know, I never thought of using YouTube like that. This ought to make things interesting indeed!

  • reminds me of full metal jacket the beginning of them in boot camp.

  • @sonicsteev - Kinda, but not quite that intense.

  • @AndySan they didn't make you choke yourself? if not, i don't wanna go... jk jk

  • @btodalew9890 - No, that part didn't happen lol!
