"keep your hands inside the rocket" --- HELL YEA, unless you want your new nick-name to be "stumpy".. There's at least twice where you can see a solid steel beam pass inches over your head.

While it doesn't look like much with the lights on, the sheer amount of engineering and construction is amazing to see.

it was originally designed for disneyland. as a four track ride. the ride could not be added to the park however becuz there was simply not enough room.. so in 1975 it was added to disney world where space was not an issue. and two years later, a smaller verison was opened in disneyland (:

Just a quick fact. Space Mountain was not meant for DisneyWorld. Space Mtn was not in the original plans. This is why it's the only ride outside the WDW Rail Road.

In Disneyland CA.The Space Mountain has a transition called rockin' Space Mountain. They replaced the regular soundtrack with a song from the red hot chili peppers and they put lots of lights on the inside.

i have 2 comments...

1. the unique thing about this ride is that you can look up or down (depending on your position) and see the entire ride.

2. XPLoSiVeNL: even though a roller coaster may not have corkscrews or loops does not mean it cant thrill you...take Space Mountain DLC (currently in Rockin' Mountain phase), it has no loops nor corks and it maintains one of the highest popularities in the world.

That was always my 2nd favorite ride at disneyworld. It rocks! I always wondered how it actually looked with lights on,but it's really weird to see it with the lights on...When did they turn the Lights on!? Do u work there? cus both my parents worked at disney, that's where they met,and they say that they gave kinda like behind the scenes tours.

I worked at EPCOT in 2000, and cast members could do behind the scenes tours of many attractions at Disney.
