  • 3 people ain't got nobody...

  • How lovely. Thanks ! : )

  • The Nostalgia Critic brought me here.

  • It's not recorded properly; they should have had one microphone for each brother singing individually in a booth, with a pick-up on the guitar plugged directly into the board (separately recorded, of course) and it should have gone through high and low-pass filters with special attention made to LIMITERS; this would have made it sound better, at least that's the way they would have done it now!

Indeed, with one microphone, you can't even have STEREO, let alone "surround sound."

  • This is just the greatest. I wish my grandparents could still be here to see this. They loved the Mills Brothers. I'm from Dayton and they are from Piqua Ohio., just about 25 miles north of here. I know people that their relatives used to let them practice their songs in their basement

  • what year is this?

  • surely before 1935,date in which the elder brother died

  • @Patrick3183 This is from a 1932 Fleischer Studios cartoon.

  • Actually, Harry was imitating a trumpet. John was imitating a tuba while he played guitar. Donald (the first singer)could imitate a trombone and Herbert did the imitation of the second trombone.

  • can someone tell the member of this amazing group voice (from the guitar)

  • now thats OLD skul

  • This Mills Brothers clip originally had a sweet opening and closing bit of animation by The Fleischer Brothers that used to be a part of this video,

I wish someone would bring back the whole thing.

  • they were a fav of my mom's. Bing and Dean and everybody else's, including the Mills' bro's, main influence was Satchmo. it's not a harmonica. kazoo or maybe a comb.

  • That still doesnt explain the tones that they all use whilst accompnaying the solo. I dont know what Dean is using but the whole section sounds un-human.

  • When Harry comes in singing at 1:23, it's apparent where Dean Martin got his influence. Same phrasing and timbre.

  • "When Harry comes in singing at 1:23, it's apparent where Dean Martin got his influence. Same phrasing and timbre." And one of Elvis Presley's big influences was Dean.

  • That's for sure!

  • Dean said many times that while Frank, Bing and Perry Como were inspirations, he got most of his stylings from Harry Mills. Used to have the group on his show a number of times.

  • I personally think Dean was the best of the Rat Pack

  • John Jr. was great. It's unfortunate about his early death.

  • right. pappy may as well have been a metronome.

  • They weren't called "Four Boys and a Guitar" without reason. The only instrument is the guitar.

  • I think that's a kazoo not an harmonica! :D

  • PLEASE TELL ME HE HAD A HARMONICA TYPE INSTRUMENT?!?!!?!?!?!

That is just scary, such talent, such Legendary skill.

  • FYI hes using hes nose to play harmonika instrumen

  • The Mills Bros. were giants.

  • very nice song, cheers for this haldee.

  • Thanks for posting this! I love this song and it's nice to finally see the actual singers instead of just only hearing them.

  • When harmony and musicality is this good, who cares about a scartchy print. Thanks
