But gangsta rap is just a branch of the hip hop tree. Hip hop is already diverse enough that there's a place where everyone can "get in where they fit in".

Steadno: No one is disputing the strong African roots of Hip Hop but Hip Hop of today originated in the English language and not, for example, Swahili language. Of course going back far enough we can find worldly connections in everything. English (and most European languages) originated in India (from Sanskrit) so could be argued that India takes a piece of the Hip Hop pie too.. Its a funny old world..
