I loved Past Sins, but I think it could have been better if it were just a little more dark. There were so many times when it should have been, but wasn't. Either way, it is an amazing story, but it felt like it could have been grim-dark.

@L337pony i agree that some parts could have been darker and still be a good story, but i think they were going for something that complimented the canon MLP story, sadly MLP:FiM is not very dark at all, and thus a fan-fic like past sins will probably have to conform to canon more than fan's desire for a dark story.

Ohh, awesome! I feel a bit bad for Pen Stroke and Batty, though. It must be hard for them to read all the criticisms for Past Sins, especially after they rewrote it, but they're amazing sports about it. The tear-apart debate sounds like it'll be even harder. I would be a writer who didn't only have to such harsh criticisms, but also at the debate be surrounded by them audibly as well.

Unless y'all are going for more of a "critiques" idea, which would be super cool. Otherwise, lovely interview!

@Lazarus2009Effect Well, if you have a creative vision, you can accept criticism which fits that, and disregard the rest. People are always going to have different opinions, but YOU are the writer, so it's your work, and your opinion is in the end the only one that matters (unless you just want to be popular and reduce yourself to a writing implement for others to interact with over the Internet).
