The main problem I have with people talking about sexual attraction and equating it with eye color is skin color is that sexual attraction is not static. If anything, I would liken it to simply a preference of food or something. I don't think its genetic. I have not been attracted to guys all of my life. That came long after my attraction for females. I know people who didn't like men until they were 40 years old with no prior attraction. We need to get over this idea that people are born a way.

The thing I hate about being gay is the persecution. When I was growing up (over 30 years ago) gay bashing was a "sport" that often turned out fatal. And nobody was held responsible, cuz they ridded the world of "another filthy pervert", or "useless fag". I have been called worse, and have been beaten, harrassed, excluded. There was nogoing to parents(you would be disowned), no teachers(parents would find out), siblings would deny you. Am now in my forties, and feel like I missed out on a lot =(

Also, are my sexual experiences different than the majority of people? I chose to be straight. I could change back pretty easily if I wanted. I can also chose who I want to be attracted to pretty easily. There are some environmental factors (like the media telling people fat is ugly), but even then, if I like someones personality, I can overcome that and become attracted to them.

The main problem I have with people talking about sexual attraction and equating it with eye color is skin color is that sexual attraction is not static. If anything, I would liken it to simply a preference of food or something. I don't think its genetic. I have not been attracted to guys all of my life. That came long after my attraction for females. I know people who didn't like men until they were 40 years old with no prior attraction. We need to get over this idea that people are born a way.

The thing I hate about being gay is the persecution. When I was growing up (over 30 years ago) gay bashing was a "sport" that often turned out fatal. And nobody was held responsible, cuz they ridded the world of "another filthy pervert", or "useless fag". I have been called worse, and have been beaten, harrassed, excluded. There was nogoing to parents(you would be disowned), no teachers(parents would find out), siblings would deny you. Am now in my forties, and feel like I missed out on a lot =(

Some people are attracted to animals. Is there an "animal attraction" gene?
Also, are my sexual experiences different than the majority of people? I chose to be straight. I could change back pretty easily if I wanted. I can also chose who I want to be attracted to pretty easily. There are some environmental factors (like the media telling people fat is ugly), but even then, if I like someones personality, I can overcome that and become attracted to them.

If at a young age, your friends tell you how attractive girls are, and you begin to check them out, then you become attracted to girls. What you believe is attractive, becomes attractive. I think if a straight person masterbaited to gay porn everyday, then they would become homosexual. The same thing is possible with animals. It's the same way people get fetishes. It's the same way people become heterosexual.

@ItsTheDairyQueen I was exposed to sexual stuff at a very early age. I remember having an arousing fantasy at the age of 6 (it was about kissing). Since the only friends I was allowed to be alone with were male, I became attracted to the same sex. I later became attracted to women also. When I was 15, I became a Christian and decided I didn't want to be gay. Every time I started to have a fantasy about a guy, I thought about something else (usually girls). I'm 22 and I'm now 98% straight.

Okay, Maybe I'm a homophob. I saw a gay couple kiss and It made me sick. I was hoping I'd never feel that way. I have friends who are Gay, but they rarely kiss infront of other people. I know...I know....I wasn't taught to discriminate against anyone. But Something in me just points that homosexuality .......is wrong !!!! I just don't see it as something natural, I see it as a alternative choice. To me, it's like a perverted person getting their rocks off. This is how I feel.

My Aunt does not work in the medical field, so when she has seen blood from a wound, she has fainted - yes physically dropped to the ground unconscious at the sight of blood. In my opinion, while a fetus is developing, the mother’s body is sensing the repeated number of male children she has given birth to, and is naturally changing the sexual orientation of subsequent males in some cases, so the competition among them to reproduce with females is diminished. As a part of the “natural” order, the mother’s body is reducing the “survival pressures” for her own offspring. Anyway, I think this is a sound theory.

at first i hated completely hated everyone who was different, i hated gays to the T. but now i understand that everyone is different and i have become more accepting to different ppl, if every one was born gay and its natural to be like that, and someone decided to be straight, then its there would still be criticism and hate of straight ppl. i have no problem with homosexuality now and im very glad for that, and im more understanding :)

humans are potentially homo, bi, straight. always were, are will be. can one change? I think to some degree, yes. but not forced, "cured", fixed, ect. It would just happen. And other mammals are that way too. Not ONLY humans. Our closest relatives in this way genetically, behaviorally are bonobo chimps. They are completely omni-sexual. What does this prove? That in our genome, and thiers, the different orientations exist. How these are expressed is probably epigenetic, and genetic.
