I've used this platform before with no problems...I really am not trying to be a smart ass, but i'm 90% sure your problem is either a shitty computer or shitty internet. Next time don't try and use your Windows 98 and a dial-up connection to trade on :)
@KATOMATE01 Actually, I presently have an Intel dual core laptop with 3 Gig of Ram. I run Windows 7 and my Cable Modem clocks in at 10 MB/Sec. That's not what I had at the time, but I keep pretty much up to date every year. The documented issues are what they are.
Oddly, I thought the stock market was a scam for most of my life and avoided it. It wasn't until my IRA tanked that I became personally involved. If you have no interest in trading or 'just don't get it' then you are better off with betting on the horses or whatever. Trading is a learned skill set like anything else in life. Just like any business, you have good days and bad days..Good weeks and bad weeks. Trading is anticipating stock moves and controlling risk. Just like any business.
Funny that sports betting is illegal in this country and this so called "investing" in the stock market is legal. Both are gambling...except stock trading is glorified in this country and sports betting is frowned upon.
Complete bullshit all these companies like TD Ameritrade and E-Trade. I'd rather throw money on a point spread in sports than invest with all these fucking frauds in suits trying to steal your money.
August 12, 11 Ameritrade decided to make investment decisions for me. Without notice or authority, they swept over $400,000 into their MM acct. Then blocked me from exiting/ liquidating those funds, which prevented all trades. Calls, emails, and pleas for help went unanswered. They changed my login without notice. Sept 30,11 their entire platform is shut down. Can't enter, exit, or manage any trades. I have filed complaints with the SEC. Any ideas on where I should move my trading?
I have never had the particular L2 problem that you have but my charts would freeze up alot. I downloaded CCLEANER and use it to clear my cache or whatever it does about every 30min. Ever since then SD runs without a hitch. You should try that
I worked at Toronto Dominion Bank at Sutton Place Hotel and another branch in Downtown Toronto during a summer as a part-time job during college.
I also had my wedding reception at the top of this luxury hotel. MY father the late Henry Siegal Queen's Council had died 7 months previous in 1980. It appears that TD Ameritrade may have links to the astounding fraud of the estate of me deceased created by numerous attorneys in both US and Canada. If that is true it is my intent to resolve the prob
Not sure what you mean exactly..Sounds like you are saying TD Ameritrade has reneged after committing on a sale. Sometimes as has just happened with EGMI, sales of the stock are stopped. Yet every morning I see what appears to be sales that are going through. These are errors and the company handling the trade has to back it out again. Best is to ask them why the trade was canceled.
However, my experience with TDA would suggest they will say anything rather than admit their system, product or staff has screwed up. In other words..Lie!
Thank you for responding. Our sell definitely went through and there response, when it was reversed many hours later, was that we cancelled it, though we didn't, and they had no back up proof, etc. Perhaps they did make a mistake and wouldn't admit to it, but the trade went through fine originally, and it was not a stock whose trading had been stopped. We have had too many instances where they don't explain anything, just leave you with errrors. It's not a good company to trade with.
Oddly, I was with Etrade for my checking, savings, personal trading account and IRA. The trading platform is nothing to speak of. But in my 'humble' opinion, the company is staffed with people that can't keep a job at McDonalds punching pictures of hamburgers. I left them for TD Ameritrade because they were incapable of providing sensible answers. Factually, even after insisting on speaking to supervisors, I was given incorrect information.
(cont) When I transferred my last account to TDA, there was a hangup.. After waiting 10 days for my account to show up in TDA, I called Etrade to find out what the matter was. They told me that the transfer didn't go through because of an Etrade internal policy and that they didn't letting me know because it was now TDA's problem. IMHO, I lost about $750 as FIG dropped during this transfer. Etrade should not be allowed to handle other people's money.
k thanks I am pretty new to trading and just started an account on ameritrade but now I need to learn WTF im actually doing before I buy anything.if you can help me out or give me suggestions I would appreciate that a lot.thanks.
It would be helpful to know which version of Strategy Desk is being used in this video. (they're up to version 3.3) And it appears you're using Windows Vista, which couldn't be helping any. Their recommended OS is XP for this app. See their manual "TDA9241.pdf".
Please note, I don't work for them. I'm just trying to determine which online broker is best for my purposes, and I'm a computer geek by trade.
It was an earlier version. And this problem seems to not occur as much as it did. Although I have used Vista for a year now, I have had no problems with the platform..(I've been on computers now since GWBasic 1.1..About 32 years.
I never did post my other issues with TD Ameritrade as I am migrating to Interactive Brokers. I'll be using either RightEdge or TradeProject. Both are programmable with C++ and both interface with Interactive Brokers. Rightedge is $50 p/m and TradeProject is free.
IMHO, they are abandoning STDesk in favor of ThinkorSwim, which they just bought. Supporting my opinion is they have disabled the autotrade function in StrategyDesk. Without this function, you cannot automatically save an entry-value. That means you can't automatically set an exitpoint. They have also not fixed many common issues such as the erroneous results you get in backtesting.
@samyo01 - when I recently inquired to TD Ameritrade about the merger with Think or Swim, the response (as of 19 Jan 2010) was:
"Good afternoon. Thank you for contacting us about our purchase of thinkorswim. The merger will take place later this year. I do not have an exact date as of yet."
Seeing as Think or Swim's interface is now a "free tool" from Ameritrade, your opinion may indeed be correct.
TD Ameritrade will stonewall you rather than admit they have a problem. And at $10 a trade, that's just BS.
Although I liked the interface for many things, and really like the charts, StDesk does not have a variable area, it cannot save an entrypoint, it has no stop function, if you have a stop set on on TD Ameritrade's system, your programmed exits will be ignored, and if your computer dies, you have no preset stops to fall back on...
Thinkorswim has been offered to TD Ameritrade customers for several months now and if you check the 'Chart' (Not Prophet Chart) you'll find it branded 'TD Ameritrade' faintly in the upper left corner. As far as I know it is still free to everyone with or without a TDA account.
I am posting a new video that is an amazing accumulation of many serious flaws with Strategydesk. This video is just one. They said they were unaware of that problem, as they are with all the problems I and others have had.(Yeah! Right!)
I've spent a lot of time video capturing many serious flaws with their software. I cannot believe they are allowed to run ads applauding their software. In fact, I feel it is false advertising. I'd also like to know why Barrons rates them so highly.

I am new to TDAmeritrade and would give them 15 more days to fix it (when my 30 day free trade ends) or its Adios for me.
