  • Japaneses education is the devil. All study, no life.

  • Crazy theory: They secretly don't like foreign students because they come and cause "havok" and don't respect Japanese culture.

  • the answer to this? Learn Japanese!

  • Why notjust got to IIT in India instead? After all it's ranked 350th in the world.

  • J universities are worried about Educating the Enemy.

  • Old Dude: I wish we could start a fund to buy you one of these gopro hd cameras for your "car talks". They have a nice super wide angle lens and that way we could see both you and out the car windows much much better. I got $10 towards it right here...

  • I see. Their passiveness raises my level of curiousness... Ninja tactics :D

  • I've never been to Japan so I'm certainly not an expert, but I think Japanese Universities hold a higher standard than other Universities in the world because I've heard many Japanese people themselves can't get in, not just because of the price but because of the testing they do as well. I've heard from many people that they are very selective for the students that come in and only take on the best students. If this is true then that's probably that's why global publicity isn't wanted by them.

  • @wiseguy12851 I´m no expert, too. But I can contribute something to that. What I heard is that the selection tests are probably harder than we imagine. Many high schools focus 2 years of teaching onto tests of certain universities because the harder the test the "better" is the school. At least in the minds of many Japanes. BUT here it comes: In fact the universitary teaching is not that hard. Even european students could handle it with an ease.

  • I've applied to a few Japanese Universities. Initially I thought that study in Japan would be more affordable than US or Europe, but now I'm starting to change my mind. I don't see myself studying there unless I get a scholarship.

  • Oh, and thank you for the work you are doing. You've done massive amounts of work for this case alone.

  • Kansai Gaidai, anyone?

  • Maybe they just don't want foreigners to take spots off of Japaneses students.

  • I found a school that had the pacific master degree I was looking for, but every time I get to form's they are all in Japanese, and this school is part of the Global 30. I emailed them and haven't yet received a reply. Thank You for the video(s)

  • Maybe they just don't want foreigners in their universities. Them saying yes could be out of obligation rather than really wanting overseas students.

  • Must be some strange cultural thing

  • Thank you for the video, and thank you for trying to get more info.

  • It may be a little dumb question, but why do you always refer to you as "we"? ^^

  • Here's my guess why they're not interested: Multiculturalism; they want no part of it.

  • As someone who is hoping to study in Japan in a few years, I really appreciate the effort you went to try and get the Unis to come to the party. Such a shame they didn't take up a wonderful opportunity. Their loss. Anyways, thanks for trying!

  • @hugobossdb Definitely. I know my Uni does exactly that. You see commercials for it on television now and it looks so nice, but if you actually go there you see all the problems. This is universal, I'm sure most Unis are the same in this sense. Protect against bad publicity.

  • I'd almost bet money that if you got the right (Japanese) person to say to the right institution "this would be a good idea, and would benefit Japanese students who want to study abroad" (or something like that), they'd fall like dominoes. You'd have more invites than you could handle.

  • I have some information for you the Japanese Institute of Advanced Science and Technology (JAIST) is a bilingual school and has classes in both Japanese and English. I know this because I have checked it out myself you can look them up at. Google them up and I hope that helps you out.

  • thankyou for your efforts!!! :) you are seriously awsome old dude

  • on of the best ways to find a university is to go through one that you already attend in your home country. Often times they have connections to schools over in japan.

  • I have a theory. I think the universities said no because they are afraid of terrorism. Afraid it might get bombed and think universities are a target for terrorists.

  • Maybe students at the campus can make a vlog or something?

  • I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO GO TO TOKYO U. !!!!!

  • I wonder if you had a Japanese friend go to the university and ask the same questions if the universities would change their answer. One thing I cannot comprehend is the Japanese aversion to interacting with foreigners in a real manner and not doing it just for show and looking good. I won't speculate if its discrimination or just plain disinterest, but it is irksome how if a Japanese person approaches and asks the same questions in the same manner that their answers will change.

  • Thank you for clarifying this. It's unfortunate they aren't gung ho about the idea though..

  • I'd love to study in Japan, but as I understand it - language barriers limit your choices.

Also, what are the chances of an average intelligence (& grades) foreigner making it into Tokyo U ... not very much I'd say.

  • @MoronHunterD Even top international students might not even make the cut. Too competitive.

  • I think alot of these universities don't understand the concept of marketing because they don't have to invest any effort to attract students, most students seek them out. And Japanese society is very bureaucratic, everything requires approval. So that is probably the other reason they won't let you video their campus.

  • Seems to me the most basic reason universities don't want it know they accept foreign students is because they don't want the business. Either that, or they see putting the information out there as taking too long and requiring too much money or effort for the return they can predict.

  • I wanted to ask about this for some time. Any idea about researcher and university professors life and work? Like does employ for life apply to them too? income? work load?...

    Any info is appreciated :D

  • @waltermh111 okey thank you for the info! :D

  • Hey is it easy to get a job in Japan? i really want to become a masseur and im just wondering if its hard to get a job then.. please tell me ^^

  • @Fiiainswe honestly, if there is a japanese person to take the job they will always get it first.

    Likewise, it is difficult.

  • Interviews and pictures from students of the school would also be helpful and interesting.

  • They don't like gaijin they are just trying to be nice.

  • i went to the "Japan Exhibition" event in London a few weeks ago and there were several universities there with stands to attract English students. These universities all had English taught programmes for international students, and generally all that is needed is a form filled out, sent in, interviews, and done. If anyone is interested in attending a Japanese uni, it doesn't seem too hard to apply at least. There are also several scholarships available it seems. Just gotta do some searching ;)

  • example of the polite japanese brush off?

  • At any rate, I do want to thank you for going through all that trouble and frustration on our behalf! But at least, you did a big favor to us by disclosing to us the bureaucratic nightmare that Japanese Universities are! Thanks again, and keep the videos coming!

  • i dont like it when these japanese institutions have strict rules and dont even attempt to open up to outside suggestions.

  • Im doing a study in holland and in year 3 we go to Japan for 10 months four of them in a university of your choice (from the list of university's my school put together) so they do seem to already have connections with other university's abroad.

  • @kingjeshua0 We can even go to top university's if our grades are high enough (keio, Sophia univerity)

  • @kingjeshua0

    What/where are you studying? :O

  • @Ruvigy HBO trade management for asia you can do it in rotterdam and amsterdam

  • @kingjeshua0

Thank you, I live in Holland myself and was just interested :)

  • Hi how are you? do you have a video about school of 3D animation or video games? I am interested and I want to known that about Japan how is an 3D Animation school

  • @MsMilkytheclown .. I know MsMilky ! - I've been subscribed to your channel since the start of this horrible mess. You have been very very helpful and i would like to thank you for all of you amazing hard work and dedication to helping our planet!. Ive sent many people to your videos. :).

  • Why not just enter uni from your own country and take exchange student program to Japan?? IMO this is the only way to go to Japanese Unis... I mean what are the chances of entering Japanese uni like normal Japanese.

  • Thank u so much.

I really appreciate all the effort u put into providing us with info, links, vids, etc.

    U've helped me a lot!

It's bcz of ur video about gogoNihon that I'll be going 2 Japan soon! so I'm more than grateful for ur help during these times!

    I'll keep watching!

Sure wish there was an iphone app that i cud put a search word in, & all the vids/info u've provided b4 wud pop up!

(i can see myself standing in the middle of the street in tokyo & browsing ur vids for emergencies! hahaha)

  • maybe they just don't want English speaking students from other countries.

  • How many miles do u drive per week?

  • you can... time for an undercover mission?

  • That really sucks. I wonder if it's because they want A FEW international students, not a lot, and they don't want a bunch of people prowling their campus or gaining all kinds of information on their university and then not attend in the end.

  • I live in Boston and we have a lot of Japanese students here and they are well treated and informed about the school and the surrounding area.

  • Dang it. I was looking forward to this. :(

  • Hey guys, PLEASE stop suggesting universities we should ask.. we really have asked them ALL.. a number of times each.. NONE of them were interested.

    Sorry.

(If you really want to do something.. you could contact the universities and suggest that they list the information on the directory!!)

  • Try Nagoya University of Foreign Studies, thats the university im going to study at. My university in America are partners with them.

  • Great video!

  • Inexplicable... it seems really strange that they wouldn't want to take advantage of an opportunity to do a bit of promotion.

  • Don't see the point of studying in japan, rather just stay in england which is cheaper and more convenient.

  • Thanks for your hard work.

Even though if you get accepted at the university, you have to be ready to blow a huge load of money annually. (I do think that at least it won't fall under 10000$). That's of course not counting living expenses, rent and similar stuff. Is that even possible for medium class people? No! I wish to study there but the truth hurts hurts hurts..!

  • @Paganbreeze $10,000 a year is actually pretty affordable compared to many US universities. I'll be transferring to University of Florida which is one of the most affordable schools and even the estimated cost for that is around $20,000 per year.

So at least to many Americans, $10,000 per year seems like a good price for an education.

  • Thanks for trying your best! I can't imagine what could be so bad as some easy publicity, but there must be something behind it if they all deny you. Still informative, despite the difficulties, and that's why I watch each of your videos.

  • can't you just walk around with a video camera on campus talking as you go? i don't think anyone would have an issue with that. i mean, you could tell them it's a home video or something.

  • Im planning to go to Sophia universtiy in tokyo, the only thing i need to know is if the government gives student loans

  • well at least you tried

  • @hugobossdb

    Maybe so...

So.. they came off looking like arrogant, unhelpful dicks :-)

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom Just a thought, most unis around the world are connected in some way shape or form. If you were able to find out the unis in Asutralia, America and Englind that exchange students with different unis in japan, you might be able to go through them and see if they could assit in getting the unis to put info on the site.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom I guess they just don't want to gamble with their reputation on the line.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom Just a thought most unis raound the world are connected to each other. If you got in contact with unis in Australia, America and England that have connections with japanese unis you might be able to get them to request that they put info on the site.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom you were think they would want people to come there so they would want to help. wow its pretty sad that they dont want to help. i thought japanese people were so helpful

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom Little do they know who you are! It never fails to amaze me how places like to think that they are up to date. When in reality they have no clue LOL.

  • aw, that's a bit disappointing ._. Thank you for trying so hard though.

  • Wow, thank you for all the effort you're trying to make to show us a video about universities in Japan! It's a shame that those people wouldn't let you take any videos, it would be a very good opportunity for them to have more students from overseas (And the the campus of a university in Japan that I visited before were very beautiful).
