  • Oh boy, the Simplex 4051+4050-80 and 4251-30 combination. I've seen those all my life; in fact, the school I went to for kindergarten had those! Nearly all of the alarms and pulls were like that, though there was also a Wheelock NS horn/strobe in the music room, as well as a few newer Edwards 270-SPOs and Simplex 2099-9103s (newer break-glass pulls). This system is still there to this day.

I am guessing this building was added onto in the 1980s, judging by the newer alarms and pulls you mention

  • @wileyk209zback Hmmm. They must be loud. I love this combo! Thanks for the comment!

  • @msj191961 Yep, those 4051s were REALLY loud. There are quite a few schools in my city that also have the same 4051+4050-80 and 4251-30 setup; most of them with Simplex 4207 or 4208 fire alarm panels (the school I mentioned has a 4208 tied into a newer Simplex FACP, probably a 4005 or 4010). They renovated quite a few schools in the mid-to-late 1970s, and that is why they have systems like that.

They also have a fire alarm system like that in the Art Center at Bridgewater State University.

  • Beautiful 70's Dover classic here.
