This episode was okay. I actually figured some of this out long ago but then again I'm not 10! And that scene where the Doctor transports back to the Earth with River Song looked a son about to escort his mother somewhere. Unless she IS his mother GROSS!!!! Now if she does turn out to be his mother NOW THAT WOULD BE INTERESTING! It would explain alot! How she knows his real name! How she can read and write ancient Gallifrean! And she would be married now wouldn't she.....To the Doctors DAD!

Gallifreyans are created by something called a Loom. The Loom is a genetic weaving construction created by Rassilon following the Pythia's curse of sterility on Gallifrey. The Loom also kept tally of all the people it birthed, keeping track of how old each one was and how many regenerations each had gone though. Each house (or tribe) had one. If one person died, another would be created by the Loom.

Having seen the entire new series, it's ok,not great. Smith is ok . The series is interesting enough that I'd watch whoever was the Doctor. The writing for the 2 part finale was not as good as I'd expected. It's a bit jumbled and frankly Smith acts likes he's having an epileptic fit in his silliness. He's amusing sometimes, but he's over doing it. If the companions get any younger, they'd be doing an after school special. I'm not 'anxiously' awaiting the next series, but I'll watch it.

With RTD you didn't realise what the running theme was until the series finale, letting the fans have much more fun trying to work it out. And then, once you'd found out that it was "torchwood" or "bad wolf" you'd instantly want to go back to watch all the previous episodes again. You see, that's another reason why this series isn't as good as the rest.... but I digress. lol. Great teaser Sarah. Now I'm actually looking forward to seeing the ep! XD

@1066gull Well, I can certainly admit that there have been some very nice moments this season. I found *something* to like about nearly every episode. But I do miss what I guess you refer to as the "drama", as it took that final moment in the Vincent episode for me to feel a modicum of emotion for anything that had happened up to that point. That's a lot of ho-hum stuff to go through for one minute of "aw...[sniff]". Can't we have both our hearts AND our heads engaged? That would be perfect DW.

As others have pointed out there has been some piss poor scripts this season. but luckily in my oppinon it has been leveled out with some good episodes as well.. but yeah Episode 3 gotta be one of the worst episodes ever. I might be in the minority with this group, but I've been pretty disappointed with this season - mainly because of Amy, but partly because of too many poor scripts. (Matt's great, I hasten to add.) But the point I want to make is that you are so talented, you can take any steaming pile of dreck and make it exciting, suspenseful and shiny. Would it be too much to ask if you'd pretty pretty please just re-edit episodes 1-10 and re-upload them? I miss my favorite show. Thanks a bunch...:)

@seduff Re: Ep 3 - Anyone associated with that who has an ounce of humility has already turned every extant copy of the script into bum fodder. I've already scheduled the surgery necessary to excise the little piece of my brain that still carried memories of it. It will be worth every penny.

As for the finale, it will have to be almost unimaginably, spectacularly, gobsmackingly brilliant to redeem most of what went before. I mean, there were some lovely highlights, but overall - hit & miss.

@someone332 There's always room for unique & fun. That's why I liked "Love & Monsters" , even though it's almost universally reviled. But a whole season of that wouldn't have been a very good idea. I would have been willing to trade clever plotting (RTD's weakness, Moff's strength) for some genuine emotion (RTD's strength, Moff's weakness). Every attempt to tug at our heartstrings has just been an annoying yank (or nonexistent). But Teh Clever - not making up for it. Glad that ur loving it, tho!

@smlivingstone I know Girl in the Fireplace is probably Moffat's best job at the emotional stuff, with (probably), massive editing by RTD. RTD is very strict with his editing. Moffat doesn't edit as much, for what I can tell.

I agree that his were usually better than the ones by other writers, but even his own best scripts from this season haven't been the best he's ever done. Wish they'd let Seduff do the editing. Things might improve.

Though I disagree with you on Amy, she is perhaps not the best companion the doctor has ever had but she is by far not the worst. I can name 3 that were far more annoying and boring. Adric, Tegan Jovanka, and Peri Brown. I too hope the writing improves as I find myself struggling to keep my interest in finishing some episodes.
