  • he makes a math statement.

more "oil saved by conservation" than "oil we can drill for".

    Do the math.

tires are better than they were when this tired 1970s talking point went out of date.

    drill.

  • *O*ne *B*igass *M*istake *A*merica

  • Didn't this jackass just approve offshore drilling? He did exactly what he made fun of McCain of wanting to do.

  • Talk about saving america money when his spending plan is 8 trillion in ten years. From G. Washington to Bush our debt is 1.5 Trill. Obama's plan would put us in 6X the debt were already in. Thats like someone trying to Drink themselves Sober. Global Warming is a political Hoax, it gets colder every year. Trillions of dollars of oil under American soil and we rather spend money on earmarks like "Tattoo removal for gang members" ($250,000) and "Research of Pig and Manure Smell" ($16,000,000)

  • The defecit is actually over 10 trillion...

  • think about it, he gave the proper answer to the common nigga who asked "what can I do?" obama tells him what HE (the nigga in the audience) can do. remebr the audience nigga is jus an everyday dude. what obama gonna do, give him a bill to approve?

  • I'm sorry but in all fairness is 3-4% something to cheer him on and get excited about?

  • sixstringedstress, how much do you think offshore drilling will give us? So yes 3-4% DOES make a difference.

  • bull shit, I'm a mechanical engineer - tires, air filter, clean oil and take some weight from the car would save millions of gallons of gas per year you dumb ass!

  • While there is no doubt that proper tire inflation is desireable unconditionally, touting this as part of an overall Energy Policy is laughable.

Let's look at this policy initiative in alternate terms:

Gas consumption increases 2% yearly; Proper tire inflation may increase fuel economy 3.3%.

If half of all cars on the road improve their mileage then we shall reduce National consumption to where we where 10 months ago.

This is not an energy plan.

It is the folly of charlatans.

  • You're an idiot LetonBrain just like Republicans. He didn't say that was ALL of his energy plan - inflating tires. He was answering what the individual can do. Learn to listen.

  • Ha ha ha. And what has he done to ensure we don't run out of gas? Nothing as expected. It is YOU and your merry band of buffoons that should learn to listen. You are too steeped in idolitry to listen; Too stupid to understand; Too uneducated to analyze rationally. It is obvious that we have elected a buffoon to the highest office. I say this without the benefit of teleprompter.

The most ignorant, single minded ideologue ever elected to the highest office.

    Pathetic.

  • Yeah, so why isn't the GOP yelling Drill baby Drill? You think that is energy policy? It's called finding alternatives dumbass, so we're not dependent on foreign oil. Even if we drill every where and use it all up as our consumption is TWENTY-FIVE percent of the world's, we will completely run out and then we're DEFINITELY in deep shit. Our biggest buffoon was GWB - he could have used a teleprompter as he sounded like a dumbass like yourself. You should change your name to NeedABrain.

  • 1) There are no alternatives to date, jackass. Care to argue about ethanol? I'll set your sorry ass straight.

    2) Bush is no longer in office, you malformed cretin.

    3) Do YOU drive, you miscreant of nature? Yes you do. Its people like YOU that are using up all the gas for the rest of us.

YOU drive an old beat up car that spews NO2, CO, NO and sulfure into the air.

    YOU use incandescent lamps.

YOU place "Let's Go Green" signs, wishing people will know just how much you really, really care

  • @LetonBrain

I assume when you mention ethanol that ethanol actually produces more CO2 to produce than fuel.

Corn is a very nutrient- and pesticide-intensive crop.

The process of fermentation produces more volatile organic compounds

VOCs can be a potent greenhouse gas and have serious health/environmental impacts.

Ethanol does not have the same caloric content as gasoline.

As a result, consumption increases, resulting in exponentially more pollutions

  • @frankpaws

    Well said, my friend.

  • So his argument is literaly, I am right and some guys (unnamed) also say I am right. God why did I ever doubt this.

This logic only holds up if you assume that no one inflates their tires and no one takes their cars in for tune ups. Since people don't drive on flats and lube stations are still in buisness then we can rest assured that this is full of crap.

And yes, it is his entire plan when he states that drilling, nuke, and wind are off limits. Not that wind was going to help anyway.

  • No matter how many persons haven't inflated their tires properly, it will always decrease energy consumption to inflate them correctly. Therefore point 1: It is always better to inflate tires to the right level. This is basic friction physics.

Point 2: You can doubt the figures of 3 or 4% because you do not trust the experts he is referring too. However, they will have based their conclusion on actual statistical observations of how many cars do not have properly inflated tires.

  • Yes, if you keep your car taken care of you individual car will save gas. About 3 to 4%. A good estimate is that two/thirds of all vehicles are taken care of so only 1- 1.25% is actually saved.

Now let us assume that I really am ignorant. Obama says so so why not. China has doubled its oil useage in the last decade. Even IF we save 3 -4% over the next decade, China and India's growth alone would couter that. Tire inflateinf is NOT an energy plan, it is a red herring.

  • Thank you for the figures. I agree that inflating your tires alone is not an energy plan. But the way I understand it is that their is a lot of small things that we can do to reduce our energy consumption by a few percents, and tires are one of many examples. And the conjunction of all these improvements WILL lead to substantial savings.

I think what happens or does not happen in China or wherever (e.g. who gets elected) is irrelevant to the matter. We should do what we can at our level.

  • We should do what we can, and that is why it is important to raise public awareness of those simple things we can do. If that fuss about tires made people inflate their tires, that's good enough for me.

  • cars should cost less if they got 16 billion not more...

  • hmmm..nuclear energy? im not sure if america needs 45 more nuclear plants, chemical targets for terrorists. they wouldn't have to develop chemicals. just send a missle and there ya go. hmmm mccain sounds dumb as shit saying that. thats alot of money buddy. there should be a way that you can choose where your tax money goes, cuz repubs will see how useless 75 pecent of mccains plans are ad will switch to dmocrat or independent..

  • The tire guage isn't about the obviousness of it. Its about the fact Obama isn't offering up any real answer to alternative energy. 15 Billion to US auto makers to make more effecient cars a year isn't really an answer that gets results.

McCain has been offering more then just gas efficiency when it comes to dealing with energy. He has supported much more alternative energy and effectively creating effecient technology.

Another problem is Obama does not answer for his budget.

  • Mccain's energy policy? Like more nuclear power plants. People haven't even figured out a way to process the nuclear waste. You can't just keep burying that stuff. You know what happened in Russia in reguards to the Chernobyl disaster or what almost happened here at Three Mile Island. Yeah, we really want more Nuclear Power Plants. Get a clue.

  • ... Strange, I heard an echo come from your skull. Might want that checked.

Todays technology allows for the use and reuse of nuclear fuel. This means that we are not burying this stuff for 10k years but for only a couple hundered at most. "If this is true then why dont we have it?" That is because we don't have any powerplants built in the last five years, or even 30 years.

As for Chernoble and three mile island, well those scenerios are so unlikely that thinking about it is rediculous.

  • Oh really, France is the most successful reprocessor at 28%. As of 2007, the United States had accumulated more than 50,000 metric tons of spent nuclear fuel from nuclear reactors.[53] Underground storage at Yucca Mountain in U.S. has been proposed as permanent storage. After 10,000 years of radioactive decay, according to United States Environmental Protection Agency standards, the spent nuclear fuel will no longer pose a threat to public health and safety. In other words, it piles up.

  • Power companies refurbish old plants instead of building new plants because new plants have strict standards for emissions. They don't want to spend the money on cleaner burning plants that eliminate up to 90% of the polution generated. REad up before talking to me so you don't get embarrassed.

That echo is me bouncing peanuts off of your head.

  • so angry and so wrong. The plants (I mean ALL of them) have all been extended as many times as they are allowed. This means that in ten years every nuclear reactor we currently have will shut down. So they would have to build newer plants. Even if this were not true then they would still build more nuke plants as they all produce profit. Your lack of understanding of the econ. is probably why you are a lib. And your above argument is a negative restatement of mine. Not original.

  • It's amazing how Obama has bamboozled his lemmings off the subject that we need oil independence from foreign oil. He said filling our tires will save us about 3% so that means we will still buy 97% foreign oil. He even said McCain want to "drill under his feet there". Yes, because the oil under McCain feet is American oil and our only solution to get off foreign oil independency.

  • "Untapped Reserves Could Fuel the U.S. for 300 Years"

Find the article at MSNBC or do a simple search.

  • Have you realize that people are laughing at him not for him. If he keeps saying this childish crap, I guess I have to vote for McCaine.

  • Obama:

"They're making fun of a step that every expert says would absolutely reduce our oil consumption by 3 to 4%"

    Reality:

Experts say you may gain 3 to 4% miles per gallon if you properly inflate under inflated tires.

3% reduction in oil consumption is not the same thing as 3% increase in miles per gallon.

Even the 3% increase in miles per gallon assumes you have VERY poorly inflated tires.

Obama also assumes all oil is used for fueling vehicles. Wrong again.

  • I cannot believe a candidate for the President of my Country is this ignorant and thinks the American people are ignorant enough to buy his bullshit.

WHAT FUCKING "CHANGE" IS HE GONNA GIVE US????? Is he going to keep it a secret???

Why won't he say what changes he's talking about????

"Inflate your tires" BWWAAAHAHAHAHA! Scary people buy this nonsense.

  • do your reading before you post. if you just got your fingers together and used your keyboard to get to obama's website you could read his energy policies in detail and get allll the specifics you got such a hard on for. And the only thing thats scary is that people buy the fact that offshore drilling will even put a dent in US gas consumption. At least obama is presenting ideas. Maccain is simply presenting excuses to make his affiliate oil companies richer.

  • For one thing, Obama's website policies change weekly depending on polling data.

For another, we have more oil under U.S. soil but cannot get it because of Obama and the rest of the Democrats. They couldn't care less about average people suffering and thousands of small trucking companys now out of business.

Third, the "evil" oil companys you hate keep this Country going and make 5 cents a gallon profit, while the Gov't makes over 60.

Fourth, why are Canadians so interested in U.S. politics?

  • *sigh* I read up on petro economics. your "more oil" amounts to a potential 3-4% production increase. That wont save anyone. people OR truckers.

Also I'm not denying that the government is as bad or worse than the oil companies.

And the reason Im interested in your election is that I've already watched the US deliver 2 sucker punches to itself by electing an idiot twice and I'm worried they'll deliver a 3rd one. I have money invested in your crumbling economy and i'd like to see it succeed.

  • "Sigh"??? whats that mean? your better than me, are you another liberal eletist?

I didn't say "OFF SHORE" drilling did I? We have an untold amount of oil under Montana, Wyoming and Utah.

You would have lost any money in our economy under Gore or Kerry b/c our economy would have tanked. If you like Obama, "read up" on what Jimmy Carter did to this Countrys economy in the late 70's cuz thats what you'll get, plus communism.

How'd such an "idiot" get away with pulling off 9/11??? LOL.

  • my sigh refers to this: I've heard your kind of arguments the last 2 elections and I've heard Mccain's points of view (drilling, the war, etc) coming out of Bush's mouth for 8 years. Now listening to mccain its like a deja vu. But I thought that after 2, 4-year disaster-terms, nobody in their right mind would listen to the same silly type of candidate a 3rd time, but its kind of scary that they are. Also, I know the 70s but you cant compare the carter situation to now. way too many differences.

  • Your welcome to your opinion but I don't understand what the "disaster-terms" were??? Under Bush, we've had low unemployment, low interest rates, a housing market boom, economy grew, economy rebound after 9/11, no successful attacks scince 9/11, and the war is mostly won. Yeah were in a "dip" now but thats normal. Economys always rise and fall. Compared to the 70's, our economy right now is kick-ass.

My big problem with Bush is the illegal immigration issue. Give your "devil his due".

  • Ref the war issue, I have a neice and two of my best friends sons over there. They all say things are about 90% better over there than 18 months ago. We've basically won it, and the vast majority of the people of Iraq are grateful to them and love us. Would you REALLY want us to pull out now and let the terrorists retake Iraq and allow 4000 soldiers lives lost be for nothing? Not to mention the mass murder that would take place? That would be IGNORANT! Any lessons learned from Viet Nam pullout?

  • 2 wars, a credit problem that could have been prevented, unpopular government, unpopular status in the international community and 4000+ soldiers dead. thats 2 bad terms. As for Iraq, I appreciate the fact the soldiers there are doing good work.

  • 1 war in two Countrys(we didn't ask for, we got attacked), the credit problem is not Bush's fault (unlike Canada, our gov't does not run our lives, people are just stupid), our Congress and Senate which are majority socialist democrats have a much lower approval rating than Bush does. We really don't care what the international "community" thinks because they've ALWAYS hated America (but love our aid). 4000+ soldiers dead sucks but the lowest number of ANY war EVER! Equal to 3 months/murders.

  • 1 war 2 countrys (we didn't start, remember 9/11?) Our gov't does not control us, people's stupidity caused credit problems, not Bush. The Congress (socialist democrats) have lower approval rating than Bush. International 'community' has always hated us (but love our aid). 4000 soldiers dead in 6 years sucks yet the lowest of ANY past war EVER! We lose 6300 people a MONTH in auto accidents and murders!

I'm amazed how many Canadians spew hate about the US on youtube. I thought you were allies.

  • see, i know i wont get through to you cause i know about your motivation. if i had friends in iraq i'd have to rationalize supporting an inadequate government too. i'll just end my attempts with this, if you think that voting republican again will help the various existing problems in the US, remember the old saying; if you find you've dug yourself into a hole, stop digging. Obama, whatever his flaws may be...is a way to stop digging. a multi trillion dollar deficit is a big hole.

  • he is right again.... Whoever voted for Bush once shouldn't get to vote in this election and whoever voted for him twice should get kicked out of the country for being the dumbest dumb asses in the world.. now thats a plan to clean out ignorance

  • c'mon now, simply inflating tires isn't the ONLY aspect in his plan, give him some credit. His plan is as follows:

    1. inflate tires to proper levels

    2. push-start your car in neutral(if it's a manual transmission)

    3. remove bumpers, spare tire, back seat, tools, etc. (any excess weight)

    4. stay glued behind semi-trucks to use their wind force on the highway

just like that, no more dependance on foreign oil!

  • properly inflated tires do save fuel. only a complete idiot would say otherwise. talk on you republican idiots.

  • yeah, true... but only idiots would drive around on underinflated tires. (and maybe a few women..ha ha)

tire inflation won't help airlines that are in a huge stuggle... nor would it help shipping, nor would it help home energy usage, nor would it help power plants, nor would it help manufacturing(ie. the tires themselves)

so okay, good...lets all go check our tires... done. now lets talk about the fact that the U.S. still imports 70% of it's oil, and how to tackle that problem. cue Mccain

  • Even if we tapped out all of our drilling areas, we would still only up our oil production by 3%. That's why offshore drilling won't solve anything. We need to look into alternative fuels and decrease our dependence on oil.

  • well we've seen the damage that ethonal has done to food prices / shortages world wide.. besides it can't even sustain itself. I'm all for new / clean energy but these techologies are just as far away as people claim the benefits from drilling are. It's a complex issue with no "be all-end all" solution.

However I disagree with the 3% figure. ANWR alone has enough petroleum and gas to last the U.S. for decades. And shale oil in the Rockies could put the U.S. on par with the Saudis.

  • mccain seems to think like most ignornant men. oil is not the answer. go sit in your rocker and think solar wind and other free fuels grampa

  • DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB REPUBLICANS!

    John Mccain = ignorant policies!

    He supported a DUMB WAR!

His supporters are supporting a DUMB MAN!

  • Unbelievable! All these Mccain supporters are thinking just like Mccain and the Republicans! How fuckin stupid can you guys be? You are supporting a "DUMB MAN", and you guys TAKE PRIDE IN BEING IGNORANT!

    GOSH- DO YOU HOMEWORK

  • Do your homework!

Dumb Republicans feeding lies to their dumb supporters! I see why Bush was elected twice

His supporters are DUMB DUMB DUMB!!

  • I dont get why anyone should make such a big deal, he's suggesting you inflate your tires. It's easy and could lower gas conssumption. What the hell is wrong with that?

  • al3x4nd3rd4ril, why do you think that is? I can't believe you're even making this statement. This man said that inflating your tires is the equivalent to the oil that oil companies would drill from offshore. That is a loony statement and the media are not reporting it. He's linking air pressure to about 87 billion gallons of oil. 87 billion gallons!!!! what an enery policy, don't you think?

  • That's NOT what he said.

  • Most people have difficulty inflating their tires properly, over inflated tires can cause accidents as well as car problems.

It would be very easy to over inflate the tires and it is a lie that it would save that

much and it certainly is not an energy policy!

Maybe an energy policy for idiots, lol.

  • Only an idiot would buy the lie that tire inflation is Obama's energy policy. He detailed his energy policy beforehand and a woman asked what she as an individual could do and Barack suggested proper tire inflation. Please stop being a soundbite groupie and start looking at full context.

  • what a bunch of village idiots! Obama supporters must be representing villages all over the world!

Obama is a idiot and most people are smart enough to see it!

  • brilliant. Republicans are idiots.

  • The Republicans are not taking pride in being ignorant, they are unconsciously ignorant and have a false sense of pride while thinking they are clever. They can't see how much the consciousness of the country has changed because they are not part of that change. They will find out how much the playing field has change in November.

  • My joke with the Republicans

The "I want to vote for Bush because he is someone I would like to have a beer with" party. LOL!!!!!! You are now the " I want to vote for McCain because he was a prisoner of war veteran and he is a 'true" American" party.

P.S. That beer (ANHEUSER-BUSCH BEER COMPANY) you wanted to drink with Bush has been SOLD TO EUROPE'S INBEV FOR $50 BILLION ...

  • And the idiot Lemmings stand and clap this time.

  • ha. good point.

  • Because he makes a good point. You jackass. Watch the video before you make idiotic remarks. Obama is 100% right about this. It WOULD save oil. The republicans are just too ignorant to know the truth.

  • Honestly, it's less than 4%. Seems to be about the same amount of your brain you use. What about the 96% problem we still have after Obama solves the 4%.

  • Are you jealous? Stupid? Or maybe an idiot? I don't understand how you can call people that clap about facts, lemmings. MCCAINS followers are the real lemmings. They refuse to see the fact that Mccain is ignorant and lies about his POW camps, and just follow him blindly. You need to reevaluate yourself.

  • Honestly, it's less than 4%. Seems to be about the same amount of your brain you use. What about the 96% problem we still have after Obama solves the 4%.
