@efertheredfish2 I'll see what I can do about that in the future. Right now I have a new addition to the family and I'm spending more time calming her, burping her and changing her nappies than anything else!
That is an awesome setup man. If you sourround processor offers you the possibility to run everything threw a tube preamp, you may try. You will be amazed!
@efertheredfish2 While I like the nice warm glow of tubes, I'm not really into waiting for them to warm up nicely and having to deal with adjusting/replacing them. Keep it simple :). I enjoy listening to tube systems at friend's places though.
@70short I've looked at a few power conditioners, but haven't seen anything that really meets my needs at a price point I'm happy with. Complete power regeneration is my preference, but after a friend put a scope on one model he noted that it was running at 49Hz instead of 50Hz. Perhaps it can be adjusted, but it still didn't make me want to go and put down a few thousand dollars for one!
Replace that super-slow Blu-Ray player with something from Oppo. Get the newest one so you'll be ready for 3D and grap a proper receiver. It will make everything simpler. Dont forget to pick-up a "Buttkicker" system too. You can thank me later.
@bujoun76 Yes an Oppo Blu-Ray player will probably be the next thing on my list, but honestly after the movie is loaded the Samsung still does the job for now. I'm not into 3D at all. Even at the cinema I find it barely adds much unless it's something like Avatar. As for the receiver, well I've always been waiting for the Emotiva XMC-1 and will upgrade to that if it meets my requirements once it is released. In any case the Emotiva UMC-1 is still an improvement on my Emotiva LMC-1.
That's one sweet setup! I'm familiar with all the equipment, but not the speakers you got. How does they sound? Bet they sound great since you are still using them, but could you tell abit how they sound?
@Soundlikeme It's a bit hard to describe the sound of a speaker :) Anyway, I'm very happy with mine. There is plenty of bass from the main speakers which is controlled well from the Bryston power amp and the bass traps behind the speakers. The speakers have two 8 inch metal woofers, so they can pump the room! Whether it's classical, rock, jazz or R&B the speakers work for me, but my system does reveal poor recordings. Moving from the 2 way IM8200 to the 3 way 400s was great for the midrange.
would be also nice to see a music video or movie! here on youtube played threw your system :)
