@thatswhatsheread no, it's not the OBC. It's the final broadway performance. As far as I know, they just have the movie and OBC recordings, but I think in the OBC, they do sing live. Roger is played by Will Chase in this version (original is Adam Pascal), and they breathe before certain notes - it takes a long time to learn to hold those notes though (took me over 10 years to get it perfect.)

saw this 40 times around the east coast in the 90's and twice on Broadway about 6 months after it open at the Nederlander Theatre . Top 5 shows-concerts I've ever seen! Some casts better than others but all good! THANKS!! (BTW, the movie was bastardize and not only didn't like it but hatted it!) they should of just taken this footage and used this as the movie!!

I fell in love with this show's soundtrack years before I saw the show live and long before I knew everything about Jonathan's story and what an amazing legacy he left behind.This show just continues to find new ways to blow my mind on stage and behind the scenes. Every emotion you can think of comes to the surface and while it can be hard at times, you love every second of it. Beautiful music and a beautiful story... Thank you, Jonathan Larson. We were the lucky ones.

Words can't explain how much I love this play! Even though I just discovered it about last year I've learned to love it so much. It gives you so much to think about and so much to learn from. Every time I watch this play I get so emotional, I get excited,sad,angry there is never a time i think Iv'e watched this with out crying. @lesley915 There's the 'revival' now, off-Broadway. Different costumes and some changes in the set but otherwise the same as far as my understanding goes. I want to see it. :)

@lesley915 Oh god no! it closed over a year ago. I think its off-broadway, but it isn't the same. they butcherd the songs and the cast sucks! (no offence to the RentHeads) but really, the off-broadway version sucks. I wish they would of taken Larsons orginal off broadway score and used that as the new off-broadway show.

@thestar13 you're not the only one. When I first heard the cd, I loved it. Saw it with most of the OBC on broadway... loved it, but then I started seen other casts, traveling, different b-way casts and you are right on the money. CD if great, but I've now heard better performances.

when I saw this show i was unfortunately too young to fully appreciate it, but recently I have discovered that it is the most inspiring and emotional experience and show that I have ever seen. My outlook on life has definitely changed because of this show. I listen to the music all the time. Rent is the biggest gift that has ever been given to the broadway stage. Thank you, Jonathan Larsen, and I will be the first to buy tickets when this show comes back <3
