  • Great job man! I just wanted to ask you for some advice... I also use Nuendo and I can't seem to hear the Alpitude distortions unless I have already recorded a guitar track. In other words I can't hear the Amplitube amps and I can't understand why.... Please help!

  • starting at 2:00 its a pretty awesome riff

  • thanks for making this.very informative

    cheers

    Jim

  • hey man great video. really trying to find a solution to get the best tone possible through playing with headphones. tempted to buy this. BTW, what is that last riff you are playing? it's DT right? which song haha! killing me trying to remember which >< Maybe it's not DT lol.

  • @flamen89 thx for watching, the last riff is indeed a DT riff's, its Stream Of Counsciousness (spelling?) from the Train of Thought album :)

  • @Lafronde haa! thanks! i'm gonna listen to it now!

  • mate ur underestimating urself! amazing playing!!! i just got this app and its pretty mad :P when i connect the guitar to my laptop, i need one of those usb things, right? where do u buy em?

    cheers, from australia :P

  • @Frank3c0m Hi,

Well thx for your words ;)

what you need is an audio interface, usb or firewire (preferably USB but not cause its better, just cause your risk of incompatibility is lower with USB than with FW) it will allow your computer to reproduce what amplitube is doing to your sound with a low latency.

I have absolutly no idea where you can find one in Australia, i guess you need to try in your local music store, or over the internet...

    Best of luck ;)

  • Sounds great man. Think I might get this. Some very nice playing too.

  • Bad playing? I think it sounds great. I'm really interested in getting a converter now.

  • the stomps and the rack that you are using belongs to amplitube 3 or maybe you are using x _ gear...by the way is there a way to customize ,and install just stomps and rack only to what ever amplitube you are using?

  • man , with a usb interface , am i gonna have latency ? , i mean the sound always gonna be few seconds late ?? and if is not like that , what kinda usb interface is great for amplitube 2 ( without piece off sounds , 0 % latency , playin' in real time )

witch one man ? , i need help cuz my guitar sound terrible , so much latency and the damn piece off sound . thanks dude

  • Haha nice Damage Control in the begining. JP for the win. And your playing is good dude.

  • Me passa a tab desses solos? por favor !?

Pass me the tab of these soils? please!?

  • To connect a guitar to your computer, try a Behringer UCG102, 40.00 US. Sound card interfaces pale in comparison.

  • does this realy need to have a usb interface? or its fine without usb interface?

  • @cheberli09 doesnt matter USB or Firewire, or PCI, but it HAS TO BE a low latency audio interface, otherwise you'll play and hear the sound few seconds late.

  • @Lafronde ahw ok.... still the same with GR4.... still needed with usb interface tnx btw

  • do u need to connect into ur effects before connecting to the computer?..cause ive tried this..just guitar to computer and it sounds horrible..what should i do first to have a plain clean tone??..is there any instruction?

  • terrible playing!!? haha I enjoyed it, thnx for the demo

  • John Petrucci Damage Controle!!!

  • I have a question, can i use the pc's line in?

  • @h3kt0rshr3d

    Yes.

  • I have the amplitube 2, and i can connect the guitar, but it doesn't sounds, i use asio4all and all the configuration it's ok. I can't hear the effects in my guitar, but i can see the input and output levels iluminating. Could you help me?? I can't find help in google. (Pd: Sorry for my horrible english)

  • can you hear your guitar outsite the program? i mean clean, just with windows? plug it to "line in" and see that is not muted, if you can hear it then it would work with the program as well, also see if the small jack is correct, I think you need a stereo one

  • i'm pretty sure you'd need a daw, since amplitube is a VST plugin for workstations. if there is a standalone, i'm not sure that it is powerful other than listening to the tones.

  • can someone explain how to connect the guitar to computer !!???

  • hmm...its like for making babies, you take the male jack coming from your guitar and insert it in the female jack in your computer, no need to come out of MIT for this, no worries.

And if you still cant make it, google search will help you out more efficiently than i would ;)

  • tnx

  • but i thought you were using tha m audio fire wire solo? or are u jst telling him the nooby way?

  • @Lafronde It sounds like crap for me even if I have a good enough comp. Guitar is crap too, but not that much, works on other software.

  • @farcry1942 you need a sound card of some description, your computer will have one built in, although the connection will most likely be on mini-jack and it will be of very low quality. Your best option is to buy a small sound card such as an m audio fast track, that connects to your computer via usb.

I believe Amplitube will run in stand alone mode so you shouldn't need any other software.

  • yess someone can explain how to connect the guitar to the computer!please!

  • Is someone can explain to me how to connect guitar to computer ? plz :/

  • thats a nice program and playing is good

  • this is good but guitar rig4 owns anything out, it's so sick

  • Absolutely agree, gt has more edge, at least for me...

  • the song in 3:50 is Dream Theater Stream of Consciousness. :)

  • not bad playing at all !!

  • what's the riff at 3:50 until the end?

I reminds me of something from Dream theater, but which song?

  • what vst host do you have?

  • And I'm using old SoundBlaster Live... Is that the problem? Do I need soundcard with Instrument In ?

  • u should get an audio interface

  • My guitar is pluged into MIC-IN and there's a little problem... Everything works, but I can still hear the original (Clean) sound of the guitar over the amplitube's one. How do I get rid of it? If a record the something, the original clean sound is gone and only the amplitube's is there.

  • go to volume settings of ur pc/laptop. Thn mute the mic input.

  • Very good review.... 5*

  • Im very excited... its great to learn all this kind of things from youtube... things people close to me cant teach me. My new Mbox 2 is ready for so much adventure...

Can anybody give me some cool link for tutorials?? Ill be very greateful...

  • Hey :) Nice video

What's the name of the song at 2:20 ?

    Thanks you =)

  • Hi thx for watching,

Its Andy Timmons Electric Gypsy that i play at 2.20

I had some notes to give names of the songs apearing in the video, it'll be easier for everyone :)

  • How come whenever I play something, it waits a second and THEN plays it?

  • My setup with this software :

    *Windows 7 RC / Vista

    *Creative X-fi Titanium

    *Audio Creation Mode

*LINE IN selected (not mic )

    *Cretive ASIO driver (5ms)

*Plug ins ur guitar in da line in / mic jack

*Play damn smooth wtihout noice background or watever...

hope this can help for some people, the main things dun put guitar cable inside the mic jack, try LINE IN jack. this can apply to other soundcard to..try !~ :D

    peace!

  • hey ..i use a guitar ,a cable, and this soft...but when i start this..the sound from speakers...the real sound of guitar it's earlyer than that sound from soft...with effects

  • i have amplitube and a lightsnake USB cable, when I use the lightsnake it comes out incredibly distorted. how do i fix that?

  • Dont use the lightsnake. I bought it too and I really regret doing so. Its completely unnecissary. Go to your local Radioshack and ask for a 1/4" to headphone jack. It should have a big opening and then a headphone jack. Plug your guitar into this and plug this into your line in on your computer. Then in sound options select recording device, then line in. This will give a decent sound. You may want to download ASIO4All to minimize latency too.

  • Do we need to buy a usb cable connecter or something, how shall i connect the guitar cable into the computer, i don't understand, and one more thing. do it work with a acoustic guitar with input, because it work on a normal amp, answer please : ) i really want this!

  • Please tell my name on the song 2:05.....p.s. awesome video and very good playing

  • It's a Andy Timmons song called Electric Gypsy, highly recommended guitarist with awesome guitar tone and feeling, if this allows you to discover him, i'll be really glad about it!

thx for watching and for compliments :)

  • andy timmons ftw!

  • can amplitube be used for vocals?

  • i guess it can for special effects...as much as a guitar amp can be used for vocals, but its not its main application

  • i hear electric gypsy.

cool stuff, can you just plug your guit directly into the line-in on the snd card?

  • yep you can, that's what its actually made for, just make sure you have a low latency soundcard or you'll hear what you play with few seconds delay, which is quite unpleasant

  • you need a pedal for this??

    or just in the computer??

  • the pedals on the computer.... i have it but ya u click it for it to work.... or i think if u actually have a pedal and run it through to the computer i think it might recognize it though im not to sure

  • you dont need a pedal to make it work, but you can also buy with it the stomp I/O that goes with it and which will allows you to control the program.

But just in the computer it works too :))

  • hi!do u know how to use amplitube 2 in sony acidpro7??need help..

  • Can anyone help me with this? I'm not sure if this is just the program itself or what, but to me it has no sustain what so ever. Like guitar rig 3 you can disable the noise gate and stuff and turn it way down, and this one only has a small range and it always cuts off the sound too early. Anyone know how to disable it or make it work better? Thanks.

  • yeah and i noticed you played Pink Floyd...just i forgot what song...:D...

  • Its Breathe from The Dark Side Of The Moon ;)

  • really nice demo man...just wanted to ask...how come that you don't have that noise when you use high gain...i know that there is noise gate but that cuts sustain...so plz can i get an answer?

  • Well i guess its cause the preamp of the Maudio soundcard are not that bad after all, cause i dont use the noise gate, as you told, it kinda sucks on AT, but i do get some noise depending on the amp i use (Marshall simulation is noisy e.g) :)

  • does amplitube works if i use line6 toneport?

  • it sounds great :)

    good work and nice demo

    can i ask you something

what kind of sound card do you use to connect the guitar with your pc ??

    external??

    do you have latency???

  • Hi, thx for your comment :)

As stated in the video description, i use a M-audio Firewire Solo, external soundcard, as its name says, plugged in firewire on my pc, and i have almost no latency once buffers are down, just few milliseconds

    :))

  • thanks a lot for your answer :)

    you really helped me :)

  • dude! one question, how did you get amplitube to sound so clean. Mine's funcioning well, but mine has too much hiss when I use the lead channel, and even worsens when I try to boost it to get my chug notes. I saw your video, you werent even using the noise gate. Are you using large speakers , or a high end sound card for your PC?

  • HI,

I guess the soundcard is "responsible" for the quasi absence of noise, it all depends on the preamp's quality you have, apparently for most of high gain amp simulation the Maudio is not as bad as it seems to be, but some amp do make a lot of noise british tube lead 1 for example is a noise maker for me too, i just try to use this amp on crunch kinda sound to avoid noise and other amps for high gain sound :)

  • Really great demo. Just what I was looking for today on YouTube. Thanks! :)

  • im glad you like it! thx :))

  • Great sound man!

  • is it free ? ... :S

  • no its not, visit ikmultimedia dot come ;)

  • pfffffffffffffffffffft!

  • you can get a trial

  • Can Pod Studio GX give me the same quality of tone?

  • i have a no idea about Pod products, but i suppose the fast track could, i suppose its the same input than on the FWsolo, so no reason it doesnt sound the same :)

    andthx for watching

  • Really nice tone...

Amplitube 2 sounds awesome.Could a Fast Track USB, Jam-Lab, Tone Port, i don't know... give me a good tone like the ones presented here? This Firewire Solo is a bit more expensive, and all I want is just to plug the guitar and play, maybe record something, but only the guitar. Nothing beyond that.

  • i just got this and how do i hook up the guitar to my laptop..do i need a cable that runs from my output jack to a usb port? or will i need the firewire set up like yours?

  • You will need an audio interface of some kind. A usb interface is the cheaper option, but a firewire interface is lower latency. Consider the Tascam Fireone if you get a firewire interface

  • i have a usb interface now. and it has no latency. i can tell from the imput volume in the bottom left corner. im using it thru ASIOALLv2 but when i select that for my sound settings i dont have an output device thats compatable with ASIOALLv2, any suggestions on what to do?

  • ill look into it

  • Hi!

Good playing. I have a Creative SB X-Fi sound card, this sound card is ASIO compatible, with low latency. Very good card for Amplitube 2. But my guitar is not good :( I was thinking to buy an Ibanez S470 BK.

  • what calls that last song? It is great!

  • hi, i beleive you're talking about "Damage control" of John Petrucci

watch?v=v8pUqln36po got a live version of it here, thx for watching ;)

  • no.i mean LAST. not first:)

  • oops, my bad, its called "Stream Of Counsciousness" from Dream Theater on the album Train of thought ;)

  • thx man:)

  • Hey I just got this and I was just wondering, I can't get any sound to play through amplitube... I plug my guitar in through the line in, and I can hear my guitar play through the speakers but when I try to play through amplitube it shows no output sound or input sound... Any ideas?

    Thanks

  • how do u plug your guitar into ur computer?

  • into a external soundcard, as said in the video decription =) the Maudio Firewire Solo, plugged in to the computer with a firewire cable

  • tabbing with your left, strumming with your right, and moving the mouse around with the third and fourth ? :D

How many hands do you have ? :D

  • if u look at the top u can see that he already had the music pre-recorded

  • just as JBxWinters said, i recorded first the guitar parts, and then just played the track with amplitube on, so i could be able to play with it to show you what are the possibilities :D

    thx for watching ;)

  • i have a m audio fast track

should work with this software ?

  • Hi man how r u doing with Damage control - Good playing

I got amplitube2 but i have a serious problem when i lunch clean sound in amlitube it sounds great but if i change it to distorsion it sound bad it has some backingnoise. I dont now if the problem is with speaker or anything else

P.s I plugged my guitar Direcly to sound card

  • well it sounds like your soundcard is a cheap one (like the motherboard one, or a soundblaster, something like that) cause what you describe sounds to me as a bad A/N convertor which generate noise, like "sshhhhhhhhh" kinda thing, from what you say, investing in a soundcard wouldnt be a bad idea (line 6 UX1, Maudio fast track USB e.g)

    thx for watching :))

  • can You upload this presets on RS or something? Man... That IS GREAT VID !!! 5/5 !!! nice playing :) sry 4 bad english :/

  • that's because what you hear is the direct mointoring of the soundcard, it's the sound of the guitar directly to the speakers, you need to deactivate somwhere the line input in "reading mode" of your soundcard and activate it in "record mode"

It's hard for me to solve the problems without having the computer in front of me :/

  • really cool video :)

just a question though...do you know if i can plug my guitar into my comp using the mic input instead of the usb connector thing?

  • what USB connector thing are you talking about?

Talking about the Stealthplug? well i couldnt help you, i don't use it :/ sorry

But for a regular version of Amplitube, yes you can use the line input, as long as the soundcard has low latency drivers.

  • need a serial for this if anyone could help would be much appreciated, thanks.

  • search in the net for a keygen, they really work =)

  • My mate sent me one lol it's good =]

  • linr 6 do a cracking audio interface box that i use for amplitube...also comes with ableton lite which is a bonus paid £70 cheap and sounds spot onnnn

once installed in amplitube go to settings audio setup and make sure the input is asio ux1 or whatever interface u use

    hope that helped some people

  • I also am using the same gear as you do. the prob is the signal is not going in and i cant hear the play back when i try to record. the software is kristal audio by the way. do u have any idea to solve that prob ? coz i can only use it when i dont record. I just dont want to get stuck with gearbox software to record.

  • i am having the same problem as you. did u try the sound card and did it solve your problem???

  • hey how did you add a limter? Is it in amplitube itself?

  • no, it's not on amplitube, it's a plugin of the sequencer, but it has no effect on the sound (in this case), as i said i put one just to avoid the master of the sequencer from clipping. =)

  • well, i'm sorry to say but...terratec is not what i'd call a soundcard, so you won't get good result with something that cheap, the preamps must be bad, that explains the bad sound you get from it.

About latency, as i stated earlier to another comment, you need a ASIO compatible soundcard to get low latency, try a maudio fastrack USB for example it's cheap and it'll do the ting.

Main fact to keep in mind, a good line in preamp, and ASIO compatible, that's all you need.

    Good luck!!

  • did you connect it with a line in?

  • yes, i used the line input of my soundcard

  • can this program be used as a full recording source, does it have multitrack recording, or can i stay with my old recording software but run it with this gizmo?

  • It's a plugin, so to record with it you would need a VST/RTAS host (such as Cubase, Pro Tools etc etc) you can also use it in standalone..

Try to go on IKmultimedia's website and there you can download a demo of it, usable for 30days, that'll give you the time to see how it works ;)

  • is this the amplitude 2 upgrade? or the electric amplifier and effects one??

  • i'm sorry i don't und what you're asking here :/

  • Just a question... how do you connect the guitar to the computer?? what kind of hardware do you recommend me?? Thanx

  • stealth plug

  • yeah stealthplug is one option, however i didn't read great comments about it (bad signal/noise ratio, cheap cable etc)

But basically you don't need anything special, even a motherboard soundcard will do the thing for recording (not playing live)

If you wanna play live with amplitube, what you need is a ASIO2 interface, it's the main thing to know (will allow you to play with no latency (like 7ms for example which is for human ear like no latency)

  • Is it possible to turn the noisegate mine cuts out with no sustain cause of the gate

  • What did u start at 2:05? that sounded sweeet

  • hi, thx for watching,

it's a Andy Timmons song called "Electric Gypsy"

check it out here watch?v=KgELKnnHtkc ;)

    He's amazing

  • sick playing dude. how long have you been playing?

  • hi thx, well tbh i don't think this has anything to do with the skills, a dude playing for two years 8hours a day could sound better than another one playing 5hours a week for 10years

But i touched my first electric guitar in 96, i was 14 and my very first guitar in 94 (i let you do the math for my age at that time ;) )

  • yea but i have no input signal on amplitube 2 and guitar rig´s input signal is "crackling" strongly. i have no idea, i searched for help and found nothing.

  • Awesome !!:D

i really love this video, and youre a good player too. nicely done, best ive seen so far :D

i cant get amplitube and guitar rig nicely working with my FW solo ... :/ dont know whats rong and im not a proffessional...

  • Thank you!!

Well to make it work it's not very hard, you just have to be sure to select in standalone mode, the FWsolo Asio Driver in the amplitude audio/midi configuration and to choose the audio input: FW solo audio in 2, also be aware that in your FW solo panel, if you put Asio/wdm buffer size more than 1024, you'll have latency (384 or 256 is a good number to put) and that's all you need to do ;)

  • Hey

care to explain the standalone mode?

  • well, what to explain?

you have 2 ways of using AT2, as a plugin in sequencers like Cubase/Nuendo/Protools/Logic etc, and you have the possibility to use it in standalone, which means, without any host, when you use it as a plugin, you have nothing to do with its configuration, as the sound goes by the host

In standalone, you have to configure it with the correct ASIO driver, input and output in order to make it work :)

That's pretty much it, the config depends on the soundcard you're using

  • Sorry for the bad playing?? you say??

I've been a drummer for 26 years, your quite good here, so never say your sorry. Keep it up buddy, I was impressed with your playin

    Regards

    Rob

Pop by my page and say hi sometime.

  • thank you, i say that cause when i see some friends of mine, or even guys in here, i feel small, and i also don't want people to think i think i'm good, the vid was to show Amplitube, not my playing, that's why i said that, to be sure there's not misunderstanding and also to prevent bashing, which is like...all the time on youtube lol.

    Thx for your words

  • I have a firewire solo and through the front input jack i can only get it to do audio though one side. do you have any clue how to fix that?

  • hi, there is no solution for that, with all soundcard you'll have the same thing, basicaly, your XLR input is the left and the guitar input is the Right, if you choose a stereo track, you'll have the sound only on the right, but, when you apply amplitube, it corrects this and the sound comes out in stereo, if you don't need any stereo, just use a mono track to record :) a guitar uses a mono jack, so...you can have a stereo signal into your computer with it

  • are you using an A/D or straight in the audio port?

  • hi, as said in the comment, i just plug my guitar in the "guitar" input of my M-audio firewire solo, just a regular jack from my guitar to the soundcard :)

  • sweet, do you know anywhere to download presets?

  • no sorry, i don't, but try google, you might find some stuff :) or create them yourself, it's more fun, thx for watching ;)

  • Whoah, what are you playing from 0:22? It sounds awesome.

I haven't actually found out how to use Amplitube yet, do you have to record clean stuff before you add the distortion and effects on?

  • hey :) the riff you're talking about is something i learned from Dave Weiner's Riff of the week (look for "VolA Part25" in his channel).About Amplitube, it's an insert FX, so you can add the fx on your track, switch on the monitoring and you'll hear what you play through amplitube in realtime.

For the vid the guitar was prerecorded to let me play with the soft during the vid to show a bit how it sounds.

Hope i answered to your question :)
